I decide to short the TSX/S&P500/Gold/ and they all move the other way. What gives? :whocares:

BUT

I have two positions to average down if this rally or upswing or whatever you want to call it gets out of hand here.

I predict -300 on TSX/DJIA tomorrow.

I might hedge myself on the way up before averaging down. You know it will come down after the honeymoon with the stimulus package is over. :D

Why.... why did you sell and take a loss this morning? Panic? Knee-jerk reaction? (like I mentioned last night)

What's your problem with holding for a few days/weeks and riding it out a little longer?

SilverRex

Friday.

Ok so oil continues to sell off premarket like any other day. Glad I sold my 3% gain yesterday morning, its trying to make another new low and based on the last few lows, its headed to around 39.30, now will it get back above 40 once again? I wont be surprised, so I will again try to get in below 40 and take my profit if it gets to about 40.50 so trade 39.50-40.50?

even if there was a sudden break down below 39.50, I can see it will at least come back up to retest the 40 area, there is just too much buying (starting at 40 and below)

now the roll over is coming soon for HOU and for the charts, its another week. even if oil was to hold around 40, the roll over technically will put it to 44-45 area. And that just so happens to be 1-2 dollars away from its 50 EMA which has held up against it so well the last two run ups, 50 and 48.50? so just watch for oil price to begin sell off once it reaches around 46-47 area regardless how it gets there.

39, 37 and 35 oil will be nice.

as for gold, after gold got rejected off 920s yesterday morning, it was unable to penetrate the important 910 support. it held up 3 times up until now. but I see max peak to be around 923, and its only a matter of time until it breaks below 910 and sustain it there, then we will see another crach at 900 which will be a good fight, then 860-870, however it could take between 1-2 weeks before it gets there based on how it moves once the trend is made clear.

wow Bank of america is up 50% since yesterday low.

too bad I missed it, I had an order at 4.18 but it only got to about 4.21 then it took off phuck.

anyways gold is really trying to beat the bears here, even though technically its due for a pull back to the 850 area, but of course anything can happen, I shorted it around 920 and I will move my stop to break even. Still looking for my target to hit around 901 (200 day) then short again when there is a 7-10 dollar bounce.

the only thing that worries me is

would the 800 billion package be viewed as gold positive. I know the market will try to rally on this when it becomes official, and so that will temporary shoot down gold for a week. but the scary thing is, if suddenly people jump ahead and actually load up gold even when the market siginificant rallies, then that would suck, because I dont get my 850 entry.

and look at silver, even when gold drops 10 bucks, silver just doesnt go down. ??>? dam, I should have not got greedy waiting for 10 bucks (when it was at 10.33) I dont know if I mention this but I had two huge position at 10.55 and I closed it out hoping for a ultimate 10 dollar and then I just let it ride to the moon. I would have double my money by now. (forex terms)

wait cant look back now, just going to play it technically. Still believing in lower gold price before moving higher, if it doesnt happen, then I guess I'll just sleep on my bullion coins and bar and call it a day.

update: oil just formed a very bullish and long hammer on the 1 hour chart. which means, the bottom you see today is done. and there is a high likelyhood that it will move higher at least till 40.50

Here is hoping to oil going up. I was watching it on the Nymex with E-quotes as well and decided it was a pretty good time to buy so what I didn't put in to BAC yesterday, I put back in to HOU this morning at 6.76.

Hopefully I can flip it today for a quick buck and make up some of the losses on HOU using those shares and my BAC shares, which I have set a stop at now that still sees 1000 USD profit from a small investment...overnight...which is finally a good thing that happened for me. :dunno:  :poosie: :nut:

Well, I should have flipped my HOU this AM at 6.94 but I went out for 15 minutes, and came back to find out oil is back in the deep shitter again.

Which is only annoying because I could have bought it all back again at a good profit.

BAC running strong. I guess I should push up my stop loss.

for gold bulls

here is a good read to recap some of the reason to own gold

http://news.goldseek.com/EricHommelberg/1233939600.php

it refirms my believe that gold will be very strong going forward, HGU could easily double,

if anything I would start addin to any gold stock, fund, or bullion.

unlike oil which everyone is afraid it could hit rock bottom to 30 or even 20, the fact is gold and silver has already bottom, and now in a tug of war to overcome their resistance levels.

worse case, we may never see 870 again for gold, so best bet or recommendatoin to play it safely is to split up your position, start buying now around 910, then 870, 850 and 800.

same with HGU and HBU, if you see a big pull back 1-2 dollars, its time to start thinking long. HGU could easily double from here few months later.

Good job.

I bought mine earlier than you did, so I am in at 4.5x on my shares. I have a stop loss at 5.60. I'm hoping it goes up as it was just at $5.8 and dipped to $5.7x, BUT it was just over $6.

Either way, I feel I've locked in good profits on that one. Not sure I will hold it over the weekend though...

We'll see what happens. It's early in the day still. If I get stopped out, I still made over $1.07 per share USD overnight.

I just don't understand what gets the oil price moving. Every week there's a new force moving it.

You can't even anticipate it. Today's reason for movement is because of the unemployment data.

I would have held onto my HOD but I easily figured that a market rally would drive oil up but apparently not!

Z_Fan
02-06-2009, 11:18 AM
Yeah, I'm having a problem with the oil price too. Almost always when oil goes down, the market goes down and vice-versa. So to see oil down so much in a single day, and the market up is kinda f'd up.

Just missed another chance to bail on HOU. Cuz I thought maybe this bounce it would actually break out and rise up. Hahah. Fuck it, next time it hits $6.92 or so I'll dump my shit from this AM.

So guys, here is the advanced warning. If HOU hits $6.92 or so again in the near future, be prepared for a nice oil rally driving HOU up into the $7's.

My theory goes on with both oil and gold that there are some big forces outthere slowly picking them up. So either anything 40 or below for oil and any dips in gold.

No one or country is stupid enough to just spend all their dollars and purchase everything up in a single day because that would drive the prices up to unreal levels in a short periods of time.

I am compeltely not surprsed that is whats happening here, thus you see how every dip in oil, prices gets back up even though the trend is lower and lower.

but short term I dont think you will see as huge of a gain in oil then you will see Gold.

therefore even if oil was to make a huge rally? what to 47? or maybe the roll over of 4+ dollars will be what's lifting it? then quickly it will sell off again.

I'm slowly migrating all my funds towards the yellow and silver metal. ;)

I'm not sure what to do. I think I will just hold. I didn't sell, and so I can't take credit for the rally this time.

I am hoping we go way up on Monday and hope the market rally lasts a few days. Wow.

Oil at $41.25 just in the time it took to type those two sentences from $40.90. LOL.

I'll sell now its testing the 200 day EMA, at least you can feel good going into the weekend.

even if it were a breakout, then you buy when it gets back down to the 200 day. no need to risk all your gains, or set your stop at oil around 40.40-40.50 since this is the breakout and it will be the support

Everytime HOU has done this in the past, it spikes and then drops significantly even though it is a gain. I expect it oil to settle under $42. Maybe $41.50 or $41.20 but here's hoping for $43!

civic_rida,

RBC offers real time quotes!
Instead of looking at the oil prices, just look at HOU and keep refreshing!
