1 Buyer at $.89
Next maximum of $.77
Someone overpaid bigtime IMO. That's all. No real volume to speak of. This seems to happen a lot with this stock.

Nothing will happen with Sienna Gold until they make a PR. I'm crossing my fingers that its a good PR.
I continue to buy up Solium (SUM) at these low prices.
My next two big purchases will be the two explorico's that will be spun off the Penn West/Petrofund and the Daylight/Sequoia mergers.

Went up because of Bush and came back down because of analyst downgrades.

Anyone have comments regarding Connacher Oil & Gas (CLL.TO)? It has dropped quite a bit recently, assuming it is mainly due to the EUB uncertainty. Does it look like a buy and hold? Production will happen much much earlier than UTS. In addition, CLL has 100% WI. Comments would be appreciated.

I have been holding CLL since last June and I am going to continue to hold. I also think that it is the EUB uncertainty that is causing this drop in price. I would say at these price load up on it.

ohh im definately holding and i do hope prices come down to the low 30 cent mark that would be amazing.
holding for a couple years atleast...the uranium crunch that you hear about every now and then hasnt really hit cuz everyone is so focused on oil... Once people start realizing that energy created from oil/gas is not efficient uranium will be the next gold.
Im sure you guys have read that all the developing countries overseas are expanding their nuclear energy programs...well they are still under way once they get up and going youll see what the real value of uranium is. Thats why right now would be the best time to purchase uranium stocks.
Denison is a good one cuz they are producing and i chose purepoint as an exploration play from my own DD but look around theres lots of uranium explorations companies out there...juniors of course who could be huge in the long run.
Heres a list of all of the uranium plays...

Although I think PLE will settle back down at 0.30, I hope it doesn't. I hope it hangs at the mid to high 30's and then slowly goes up to 40's. Then the next NR should pump it up again. I betcha they release more results inside a couple weeks on another 10 trenches. We'll see.

Just based on the tips in this thread alone, I have probably made $10K or so since January. More with other tips.
I do have some dogs (based on tips from this thread and other people) as well... like SGP, WIN, CYTGF, etc...

haha, I was thinking the same thing.
You would have to buy 40,000 shares = $12K (0.30/share) to have 1.2 million at $30 a share.
I will buy another 10K shares when it drops and let it ride for a few years... haha

Flow throughs are a great way to gain tax breaks.

I'm thinking about buying $5K of the flow through shares. I need all the tax deductions I can get.
For those that don't understand how Flow Throughs work, here is a little break down.
For every dollar you buy in flow through's you can deduct that exact same amount againts your income for the 2006 tax season. The bonus is when you decide you want to sell, you only pay capital gains. So its a win win situation.
Altezza
04-28-2006, 05:24 PM
The benefits of FTS are a very attractive especially to high net-earners in high tax brackets. FTS are only a win-win situation if you can exceed your post tax amount at risk (which takes into consideration your tax rate). When you take advantage of FTS, your ACB effectively becomes zero and you pay capital gains on the full proceeds from your disposition. Even if your shares dropped by 80%, when you sell, you cannot claim a capital loss. In fact, you have to pay capital gains tax on the remaining 20%. So in this case, you get an extra kick in the ass cuz you lost 80% of your investment and now have to pay capital gains tax on the 20% you managed to salvage.
Example:
I buy $1000 of FTS at $1/share:
assume 45% tax
Gives $550 capital at risk after $450 tax credit
Break even point capital at risk post tax is $550
Break even point capital at risk pre tax is ~$710
If the shares dropped below a value of $0.71 each, the advantages of FTS just got erroded away. If you are in a lower tax bracket, your break even point is even higher than $0.71.
Shares increase to $2:
I pay full capital gains tax on $2/share sale since ACB is zero.
Shares fall to $0.50:
I pay full capital gains tax on $0.50/share and cannot claim a $0.50 capital loss since ACB is zero.

NRN up to $1.05
GL up to about $3.00
BNT has been hovering mid $0.40s for quite some time, still waiting for more NR and results.

They're in precious metals and they've been waiting for financing. That's what every shareholder of BNT is waiting for. If you're looking for a stock that's going to take off sooner, check out NRN. Market price tomorrow should be about 1.10.

if your going to get into for the short term...it may go lower alot of hedge funds and large investors are trying to shake out weak hands...atleast thats the conclusion i have come to thats why the price keeps riding up and down.
if your going in long term..i believe these are bargain prices compaired to what this stock will be a couple years down the road.
have you got a diversified portfolio yet AMG or you just gambling with a couple thousand learnings a few things?

I'm still a big noob, well I should put in some effort to learn but with exams coming up I really don't have the time.
All I have is SGP, bought it at 0.72. So I'm still gambling.
But my dad wants to invest as well. But then again hes told me about how hes got BT shares (British Telecom) like over 10 years ago when he joined them. During that time it's gone up probably no more than a £1.
PLE would be perfect for him (he wants long term), although he'll blame me for anything that happens haha, so hes gotta research. I will have to as well.

oohh so its like that eh. Yah if your gonna go long term get into some good funds and stick with them or get into some income trusts that way you still get payed a dividend. PLE is still a gamble its not 100% certain that its going to go up even in the long run...althought it most likely will we might only see a gain of 20 cents and nothing more. Its a speculative play.
Get started with a couple funds at first such as precious metals or energy funds with a couple thousand then as you get new money in gamble with that. Atleast that way if you lose the money while your gambling you still have some left in the funds and you wont feel like youve lost everything. Basically like a casino...have your limits

Man rol-a is tanking the last couple days...
Anyways, Zedi posted another record quarter yesterday and the stock closed up near .15 from previous close to about 1.60. They are a well services company that can improve operating efficiency for natural gas producers. They also have a good analyst opinion and a moderately strong buy on yahoo and have proved they are not a little flash in the pan like some of these mining companies. I believe it will be a great stock for a long term hold. Price target of 1.80. No debt. Strong financials this quarter. Excellent growth pick IMO.

find an online brokerage, either through your bank or through a 3rd party brokerage.. then you're off to the races.
if you go through your bank, just make an appointment with a personal banker.. takes like 15 minutes to fill all the forms and you're done.

If you get onlne statement through waterhouse they will wave the inactivity fee. I had an account setup for like 2 years and did not pay a cent because of the online statement option. You should give them a call and see what they can do for you.

So what'sgoing on with Purepoint? Not much movement either way, but you think it's a good buy right now?
Also, was anybody fortunate enough to pick up some Falcon Oil (FO) when I mentioned them last week when it was around $3.25? Up $1.40, or 30% today to $6.05, for those that did. Wish I'd put down more at $3, but what can you do?

i believe purepoint is gonna be huge in the long term when uranium actually gets into more demand and all those said nuclear reactors start up theres going to be a huge demand.
Really uranium on the whole is a huge speculative play but the risks are a fair bit lower due to the larger developing countries making moves to secure nuclear energy as their main source...such as iran.
purepoints on sale to me...anything close to or under 50 around this time is a sale...they have huge amounts of cash and can make aquisitions if they want but i believe they are doing some more drilling in the athabascan region which has been a proven spot for uranium... anyways do some research its a great stock ive already bought and sold it once before it made it up to the 50+ mark .

^^ I've been watching FO but didn't buy it. (Unfortunately) I was hoping PLE would do something. Hell, I was excited it went up 5.5 cents today.
I would have been better off selling all my PLE for FO.

Well, for the last week, it would have doubled my money almost in FO, where PLE did frick all. But I'm hanging onto PLE for the long run. I know it has excellent potential, and from watching it today, it makes me wonder what is going on...
500000 volume for pretty much the entire day, then in the last hour or so it does triple that for 1500000 in the final hour! Go figure. Something is up. So, I am expecting an upward trend tomorrow with very heavy trading.
And I hope it's another news release with trench information better than the last time...
I'm being patient. I promise.

Look's like Pure had an excellent Q1. You can see the results here. Should trend up again over the next month. Maybe even a good jump tomorrow.

As for CLR.UN. Revenue/Profit looked OK. Unfortunately they didn't start up the distribution again. Long term looks ok but I'm going to re-evaluate whether I'm holding on to this one. :dunno:

Did it start trading at $3.00?

Yeah, well, I am a little confused.
It opened at 3.00 it said.
So, the only people who made that were people who bought shares before it went on the exchange...
Right?
