Nice to see NRN bounce back from $0.65 last week, now up around $0.87 in only 5 trading days. Hope it keeps going along with PLE, but I'm kicking myself for not buying more of both last week......:dunno:

Ya PLE is a daytraders dream! I'm loving getting in and out on the swings. Plus it looks good for long-term as well.

If it goes down, I'll buy back in. If it goes way up, I'll kick myself like with ROL.A

Apparently RBC just bought 1 million shares today and other institutionals are snapping the stock up like wildfire.....it may be a good hold.

I got a tip from a friend, apparently her uncle works with this company. Check out SOG.V, its at about 1.20 right now, he said its going to be around the 10 dollar mark by the end of the year but no guarantees :P

It underwent huge accumulation over the past 2 weeks and just broke a 52 week high..... add that to the 10m shares traded today and a close over .50 and you have a stock with some good potential on the upside IMO.

I'm into ASX at about 1.94 just before everything went south....now is a good time to buy IMO as the price is slowly creeping up. This company has a huge parcel of land with a good potential for a significant find. I'm holding until fall when the drill results come out.

BTW this has made Canadian Business' top five growth picks for the second year in a row. Last year they made the recommendation at .18 and this year at over $2.00.

As for ple if youve noticed how the news releases work...the day the news is released is always a down day then the following days are what drives it up...plus with all that volume im guessing there a huge sell off happening cuz people would like eto take profits. Im holding...we will probably see 47 again today or tomorrow but after that itll be a new 52 week high and up from there

I think there will be a bit of a floor in the 40's for time to come due to the heavy accumulation over the past couple weeks. Many of the banks bought up large amounts of shares. Unless there is bad news, it will probably hover around this price for a while I think.

I thought I had it bad with SPX in at .18 and .14. POS stock. Sold half of it at .14 just to get back out while I could. Still have the other half...

PLE...no one is trading it today. Normally at about 15 minutes into the day, it's traded (sometimes) over a million shares. Usually it's a few hundred thousand at the least.

Today, after almost 20 minutes it is 7000 shares traded. *LOL*

BPA and OCL are still my picks...

BPA is a junior Oil in Calgary with a LOT on the go right now.... come september they will be at around 700-1000 BOE a day, and right now its only at .23 cents

OCL is more risky, being located in Romania and Yemen, but has a lot of potential.... all it will take is a single positive news release to push this to the .70's.....Although, the management is sometimes questionable.

As soon as PLE drops back to .35, I think i am going to scoop some of that up too.

As I said in the thread earlier, I didn't buy it immediately (when it was $3.00) the day you posted in the thread...as I could not free up any cash.

I eventually freed up 7k, and was to split it between ROL.A and BME. So, yeah, I bought into BME the other day at 3.37...so, I got to go along for this little ride. And now, I wanna go f-a-s-t-e-r on this little ride!

VRO (Vero Energy) is a good pick - has been down for a while due to low natural gas prices. Finally started to show signs of life over the last week with the potential that Hurricane Chris might hit the Gulf Coast and with winter right around the corner (I know, it's only Aug) - consumption of gas always goes up in Q4 (assuming we don't have a really warm winter). I'll be loading up on natural gas stocks in the short term since n.gas is big time under valued (rule of thumb is ~ 1/7 of crude - which it is clearly not at this point).

Same story w/ NQL - only they provide the tools to get gas and crude out of the ground. If natural gas prices pick up like I expect in Q4, we'll see more put into n.gas drilling activity from companies like VRO and therefore, more purchases / rentals from NQL.

Both are good picks and don't seem to be well covered by institutional investors at this point (hence the low volume)...which is a good thing for you and me.

Personally, I would stay away from UTS. Trading very expensive relative to competitors and it seems overhyped. Too much risk for me.

This award is a major step towards obtaining the drilling permit.

The decree covers the first 8 concessions that were originally staked and optioned, which constitute the core of the Bolsa del Diablo project. The application process has already started to obtain a second Decree for the remaining 17 concessions. The process is expected to be a lot shorter this second time around

According to the constitution of Peru, within 50 kilometers of the border, foreigners cannot acquire any mining titles, land, water rights and oil & gas rights directly or indirectly when backed by foreign capital unless they are awarded a Supreme Decree by the Council of Ministers. The process is a lengthy one and requires approval by the Ministry of Mines, the Army, the Council of Ministers and then by the President of the Republic himself.

Guy Bedard, president says: "We are delighted to have been awarded the Decree in record time. This is another milestone for the project; Plexmar is now the only foreign Company in the Bolsa del Diablo sector to have full legal rights to operate. The process was started in February 2005 and was recently completed. Only a few similar Decrees have ever been awarded to foreign Companies in the past ten years."

Ground geophysics is progressing well and should be completed along with the airborne geophysics near the end of this month. Assay results are pending from the lab and are expected shortly, patience is needed as labs are extremely busy this time of the year.

In Ecuador, the due diligence is progressing well on the 900km(2) property. Geologists have visited key areas of the property and a legal team is revising the titles status. Shareholders will be informed of the results as soon as they become available.

Also, the Company has signed a contract with a local prospector to purchase 100% of the mining rights of 3 different concession blocks covering over 7,000 hectares (70 km2) located near the Bolsa del Diablo project. On block No.1, local miners who are mining high grade zinc, silver and gold ores, which is being shipped directly to Asia for process. On block No.2, the concessions surround properties already owned by our subsidiary near Sapillica. Approximately 100 informal miners are pulling out gold on a daily basis. Block No.3 is directly in line with the structural corridor of Bolsa del Diablo and is adjacent to 2 small underground mines being developed by local mining companies. Plexmar will issue a total of 2,000,000 shares to the owner and a cash payment of $50,000US.

How does everyone in here pick stocks? News releases? Fundamentals? Technical Analysis?

I tend to first look at sectors or industries that are getting beat down. Well, how do you identify industries or sectors that are down? That's a little bit more difficult. Everyone tends to do it a little different, I use multiple sources and try to glue the pieces together in my head - everything from reading the paper, to watching news and financial shows to setting up custom portfolio's on Yahoo to watch indices in specific areas. This will only give you a general view of the landscape. Once you identify a sector or industry that might show signs of life, then you want to go bargain hunting (at least that's my style of investing). I generally try to buy a couple hundred units of the industry leader in that sector and maybe a half position on one risky stock (small cap or speculative stock). So a good example of of where you might want to go bargain hunting is the financial and tech sector IMO (personally I think financial will revive sooner and slightly more recession proof than tech but that is just me)

Anyways, not sure how everyone else does it but that's how I do it with my investment style (value investor) and it seems to be working ok.

I think commodity's should stay high till end of the year - so I would hold on to TAH - but I don't really follow that one too closely. I've never heard of BCM - so can't help you there.

Anytime I double my money, I always sell half unless there is some compelling reason for me to hold on to the entire lot. That being said, there is no way you would have known it went to 7.83 at the opening. It could have just as easily gone to 6.83. The one thing i've learned is that it is NEVER A BAD THING TO TAKE MONEY OFF THE TABLE.
