For those into spec plays (i know there is a few). Just a few to watch for right now.

VST - interesting oil play. Already run quite a bit but very similar to ENG (except not deep offshore drilling).

VMS should heat up in the next 1-2 months. Good time to build a base at these prices.

Once again FYI only if into spec plays.

Oil's at $71.40, pretty much at the daily high.
HOD's at $11.15...

Time to find an entry into HOD? I might put an order in for $11...

Super_Geo

Took a small position in HOD... 500 @ 11.15 with a stop at 11.00.

SilverRex

added more hod at 11.11 myself

looking at hod, ive got a hunch it is retest the breakout trendline. so anything near 11 or below is a good entry

also notice the huge gap there circled in red.

typically from all the market that I have seen, most of the time price once opens with a gap will tend to find its way back to fill them at those price. so even if hod was to suddenly break down, it would be a good to increase holdings as its only a matter of time until price finds its way back to or above the current price gap

so the 70 oil critical price did not hold and thus it was only logical that price continued thru to its next resistance between 71-71.50, with momentum building and the dollar broking down to new lows recently (count revised see chart later) I now expect oil to make another dash but higher and the key resistance near 73.50 would be my bet, it happens to also be the 78.6% fibo retracement from the 75 to 67 drop. IF my count is correct and the last drop is a completion of wave I, we could see a typical steep retracement. so I expect the 73+ oil to be a great shorting area that would bring hod back to about mid 10s which is also a support area tested many times.

http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk118/genmaster/oil090909.jpg

going to throw this up first. ever since dollar broke down the up trend line holding price up for more than weeks it finally fell thru and price not only came down it broke thru 77.44 support easily, now the revised count is that (on the 4 hour chart) we are in a sub wave iii of V down. I expect further down side to the dollar possilby towards 75.9 for now, unless price can reenter above 77.80 and remain there on a closiong bias will it give us an early dollar bottom. otherwise expect all rallies to be short lived at the very near term.

http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk118/genmaster/dollar090909.jpg

And with that said of the above, that will fuel gold higher. while gold is temporary capped near 1000 because of a prior resistance. I am thinking this would not hold for too long and a shot to next level near 1033 will be tested quite soon, unless gold offers a retest of the broken trend line (purple) near the 975-980 area would offer a good buying opportunity but only if price breaks down below the red neckline, otherwise expect momentum to build upwards.

^ real what? its simply a bit of everything, its oversold and its making its mini rally as I see it, once its done then the shorting repeats itself

short term expecting further dollar weakness, and in turn I hope the market pulls back aka gold to 975-980 so I can pick up some.

and hope oil back towards 69-70 so I can exit all my position with a little profit then wait for it to rally back up to short again.

going to swing trade

right now nov contract for NG is in the 3.90s which is getting to the point where it is a crazy shorting level. I believe today its 75% oct and 25% nov. almost there, would be worth looking at hnd if oct ng could hit somewhere in the 3.00+

Natural gas was steady to slightly higher overnight as it extends the rebound off last week's low. Stochastics and the RSI have turned bullish signaling that additional short covering gains are possible near term.

However, closes above the 20 day moving average crossing at 3.126 are needed to confirm that a short term low has been posted. If October renews the late summer decline, weekly support crossing at 1.960 is the next downside target.

Natural gas pivot point for Wednesday 2.79

First resistance is the 10 day moving average crossing at 2.83
Second resistance is the 20 day moving average crossing at 3.13

First support is last Friday's low crossing at 2.41
Second support is weekly support crossing at 1.96

ahhhh i HATE NG!!!

hahahha, did you get out of hnu??

Nymex Natural Gas (NG)

Natural gas' recovery from 2.409 extends further and at this point, further rise might still be seen. But after all, upside is expected to be limited below 50% retracement of 4.16 to 2.409 at 3.28 and bring fall resumption. Below 2.63 minor support will flip intraday bias back to the downside for 2.409. Break there will bring fall resumption to 2.0 psychological level next.

you think will get to 3.28 ???

did you pick any HND or still waiting after the roll over and split to happen?

bought a position on hnd at 19.00, will add more if it dips towards 16-18

saving my ammo for possibly lower. but I feel we are near

we are 75% oct and 25% nov, I think in 2 days it will be 50/50

nov is trading at 4.00, there is resistance at 4-4.16

so I expect sell off right before it rolls over 100% because 4+ dollar NG in nov will be unsustainable

This NG rally has no basis in the fundamentals... I am looking for an opportunity to short NG like a mothafucker.

NG put into storage increased last week from the week previous (from fifty-something BCF to sixty-something BCF). Where is this rally coming from, other than short covering?

I expect tomorrow's report to be between 40-60BCF of NG put into storage (yet again). Unless the producers have shut in a shitload of gas, I don't see it dropping significantly.

How will the markets react to that? I'm guessing another sell off of NG, but with this ridiculous 20% rally of NG prices in less than a week who knows...

Maybe it was greatly oversold in the first place, given that we probably have storage capacity for another 6-10 weeks.

Dinan
09-09-2009, 08:36 AM
yeah last week was 65bcf and the week before was 45bcf...

that is because as the roll over approaches, price of the next month will start to be just as important.

why? if the front month was to break above 4.32 that would signal a technical breakout for NG and onto 6-7 dollars.

so as roll over begins, next month's price will and should be contained, and if we are going to get another wave of final wave sell off, the NG nov cannot stay above 4 dollar for too long. otherwise on the chart, the 1 dollar spike will look enormous.

I expect we get some sort of balance. so we should hit a bit of a sell off then as nov price comes in, it and is reflected off the charts you will see similar to when NG first hit 3.31, then an over night jump to 3.70s, then sell off continues. but you see, the sell off began way before the next month rolled in. this is to ensure price is under the critical levels of the front month.

am I making any sense

funny that even thought when price rolls over we dont get the benefit of the price difference but in the technical picture it becomes valid.

anyhow gold is fighting 1000 level, was rejected 3 times, finally broke above 1001, now back at 999. we will know soon enough if gold is headed towards 1030 or back to 975 retest

SilverRex
09-09-2009, 10:14 AM
ok lets review. so i got the wave III bottom and now expect a bit of a consolidation. mind you nov contract is 4 dollars right now, that means in order for it to fit under this chart, it will have to be sold off inorder to resume its downward bias to complete a wave V. we could possibly have a truncated 5th wave double bottom or the projected target of 2 dollars NG.

either way I think its headed down
pretty soon from here

http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk118/genmaster/NGtoday-1.jpg

SilverRex
09-09-2009, 10:27 AM
and HND chart is similar, max downside risk is 14 and 16 depending on how high NG will go

once the consolidation is complete, the wave 5 should at least match the wave I in length therefore putting hnd back at 28 or higher at 32 anything higher, well we'll deal withit if it ever gets there.

well im thinking NG would not just keep tanking, it has to at least make an ABC correction similar to the one before when it first hit 4.05 came down then shot higher to 4.16 before falling.

if it falls now, then expect it to fall further, but it wont make new lows, I would expect it to make a higher high quite possibly at 3.22 now then drop.

i cant get lucky all the time, but if I was a betting man, I'll at least hold it for further gain hnd at least until 21-22 which is around 2.80. then wait again for another pop with NG higher than 3.00 to get back in.

not sure if it will play out perfectly like that, but I hope

Where does the market go from here? Is it in limbo? lol

I expect the market to sell off soon if not today. I give the market about a week left at most before the trend changes

:banghead: I'm an idiot. Bought into HND this morning but had to step out around 12ish so thought I set a stop loss, but ended up hitting the limit button instead so i walk away from my computer and 2 mintues later my cellphone is vibrating telling me it sold. At least it sold at $1.25 up from what I bought, but still....:banghead:

I'm with both Scotia Itrade and SMDI and whenever I do any trades on them I get instant email notification that the order has been filled whenever it ends up buying or selling.

You looking to get back into HND?

ok not much happening with oil been stuck in a tight range between 71-72.5 if there is any momentum left the next area to hit is 73.50 which imo if 75 is to be the top then 73.50 would be the last barrier to hold oil price down. again all eyes on the US dollar. the earlier the dollar bottoms, the sooner oil can begin its decline, but until then its in limbo

as for gold, until gold breaks down completely and re-enters below 957, the short term outlook is bullish. after breaking down the neckline I mention, it was headed towards 975, however this morning it has found support near 983 which is the 200 EMA on the 1 hour. which ideally would be a retest of the triangle breakout now turned into resistance near 975-980. so price now has a few paths, either a fake rally only to test the 997 breakdown neckline, or the 7am smack down on gold comes into play pushing gold lower to retest the 975-980 area I mention.

but gold should turn bullish immediately once price breaks above 997 and test 1000 once again. So lets either wait for the break above or price in the 975-980 before making a swing trade. at this juncture it is more difficult to short gold at the moment.

http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk118/genmaster/gold091009.jpg

now the dollar index has temporary broken a sharp down trend line and price is holding above it. based on the positive divergence on stoch/macd I would imagine price should attampt to make a dash towards retesting the 77.80 resistance. YEs, if the dollar can retake above this area, it would call off any lower dollar since 77.82 is a wave i low if invalidated would turn dollar from short term bearish back to netural. otherwise expect dollar to make a new low soon next stop 75.9

HOD i'm not so sure, HND however i hope for a massive inventory build

SR, what are your thoughts around silver. Sites that i read daily have been recommending shorting it since $14...now its mid $16's. I'm contemplating taking a position in HZD ($13.XX) as i don't think silver has the strength to take out $17...but am worried gold might just pull silver up with it if it doesn't pull back anytime soon.

Dinan, got in at $19.30 stopped out at $19. Had a lot of shares so i worry about a 20% day as we've seen in the past.

euro tanked, so far so good, looks like the dollar may indeed want to test 77.82

this should be good to drag everything done imo

yeah while silver looks like a good top near 17, but gold remains bullish unless it can drop below 957, but that is a ways away. short term (today) I see gold/oil all coming down.

but would this simply be a pull back then move up, we have to see. all eyes will be on the dollar if it can over come 77.82

you can short it now, but if your up either take your profit or use your profit as stop to see how far it can go

No change in Natural gas' outlook. While some more recovery might still be seen, upside is expected to be limited below 50% retracement of 4.16 to 2.409 at 3.28 and bring fall resumption. Below 2.63 minor support will flip intraday bias back to the downside for 2.409. Break there will target to 2.0 psychological level next.

maybe i'll try to buy hnu at 2.63 with a STOP, if it doesn't work out i'll try HND with a stop.....

so 2.63 and 2.41 should be a good support to get out of HND.... and yet i sold right in the middle :( i suck.....

Depends on what kind of candles you are looking at.

some charts use white to fill in from opening to closing when closing up, and black to fill in from opening to closing when closing down.

white black, red green, blue white, depends

Another large injection for natural gas where supplies are heavier than ever and demand still weak. Natural gas in storage rose 69 billion cubic feet in the Sept. 4 week to 3,392 bcf.
