Watch ACTC on the OTC:BB. They have just developed a proprietary method to extract a stem cell without harming the embryo. Up 357.5% today . Should be in the news tomorrow.

The significance of this news release is between the lines. This is also only one of the properties that they have options to purchase and is not from Bolsa Diablo where the results earlier this year came from.

From stockhouse.com.

ARU is clearly open NORTHWARDS of 700N, PLE has visited 5 km NORTHEAST of ARU....

Excerpt from PLE's news release

A team of geologist visited only a small portion of the large property. They focused on an area located within 5 km northeast of Aurelian's Fruta del Norte deposit and took 44 samples (See maps attached). The visit confirmed that all of the visited areas contained primary and secondary gold. An alluvial gold deposit has been identified grading a minimum of 0.3 g/m3. Some of the Escondida concessions are crossed by volcanic rocks from the jurassic period similar to Aurelian's Fruta del Norte deposit.

The following excerpt taken from the ARU news release

"The early stockwork and silicification mineralization types are interpreted to dip moderately west, and to be overprinted by the later massive quartz veining phase which, based on presently available evidence, is inferred to be subvertical and to occur at the northern end of the system. The system strikes north-south and is confined to a 200-m-wide, fault-bounded corridor. "The Fruta del Norte mineralized corridor is clearly still open northwards beyond
section 700N, where the indications are that the massive quartz vein as well as the intense silicification and quartz-carbonate-adularia-base metal stockwork should persist."

In other words, the huge ARU discovery runs north right into this section. It is also possible that PLE is sitting on the majority of the find and that ARU is on the tail.

The day low today was 0.76. 1 Cent higher than my buy order. I think it will drop even further over the next couple of weeks before the next PR.

Probably my best tip for research, although it isnt as real time as I hope, its a fairly effective tool.

Ok this may seem as a rookie question. So just give me a quick easy answer. I understand that when you work at a company that a week or two before a revenue release that the employees cant buy or sell. So if you dont work at the company can you still buy at anytime around the release? Also I have a stock that hasent moved at all in two days. Does that mean there releasing info soon? thanks guys.

The blackout period typically encompasses only to the employees, some companies extend it to immediate families. The essence of the rule is to deter insider trading. However, if you bought a stock on a tip from an employee on inside information, you could be liable too.

Btw...I hate ECU's anti-climatic 3 day halts...

maximus, still like OCC and BDZ? Not much movement on them the last couple of weeks!

maximus5502
08-28-2006, 03:26 PM
BDZ is on thier way to having a $0.12 per share earning this year and they keep putting out record quaters!!!

At $0.12 per share earning taking a multiple of 7.5 - 10.0 would make this stock worth $0.90 - 1.20!!!

OHS Capital will make its move once they file the OM and Infocirc in the upcomming 10 days or so. Also, keep an eye out on thier new releases.

OHS is in it infancy as a CPC and this is the ground level for investment. The real movement will happen after the Major/qualifing transaction (AS per Policy 2.4 of the tsx-v handbook) is complete!!!!!

I'm telling you guys...just keep an eye on the above. That all!!!!! Watch for new releases!!!!

Benyl, did you buy back into PLE when it dipped after you sold it?

I'm thinking you could have really made a WHACK of cash if you did. :poosie:

If I would have done nothing with this stock since July 7th, I'd have $38,500 sitting in it right now. Uhm, kind of a bummer. I've only made about $11k profit off it. I know people who've made WAY more than that.

I feel as though I missed the boat, once again. I'm just glad I am hanging onto 5000 shares until drill results. This could continue to get harder and harder to get in to.

No, I have been waiting for a dip and kicking myself in the meantime. The dip it made wasn't big enough for me... I was being greedy!

Fawk, even if I bought in this morning, I could have made 20% today.

I am super pissed that I sold some in early august at $0.53 that I bought at $0.25. <-- I made $8K on that sale, but I could have made so much more had I held on. Then I sold more at $0.67 that I bought at $0.38. Made about $8K on that as well.

The last 15,000 shares I sold at $0.90 were bought at $0.12... hahahaha.

Made some decent cash... but

I missed the boat... I am fawking pissed!!!!! :guns: :guns: :guns: :guns: :guns: :guns: :guns: :guns:

The worst part is that I have 40,000 shares of SPX and I refuse to take the loss even though I have made so much on PLE.

Also out of rol-a for now as there will not be any significant climbs until news I beleive.

Oh snap!

I thought the fact that when I buy stuff, it goes down, and when I sell stuff, it goes up was only happening to me! We should get together and we could control the whole market with our powers!

Had Vasogen for a while here, decided to sell it at .42 and in the last couple days...well, now it's high today was .83. Took a $.18 per share loss. And could have had a $.23 per share gain. In just a couple days! Damn!

*FAWK*

I'm not touching PLE until it's well under $1.00. Commission goes way up after it hits $1.00 per unit. Example, buy 10000 shares at $1 = $100 commission. Buy 25000 shares at .99 commission = $9.99. LOL

Big difference.

I'll bet you $1,000,000.00 dollars it won't move a cent up or down on Monday. My crystal ball says so.

I have researched the companies I am invested in after hearing about them from investors, institutions or investment boards. Its hard to just pick a stock and say its the winner but by combining a lead onto a potential opportunity with some of your own research on a company I think it safer and more comfortable to pick winners.

Do you think SPX is going to move? I've been holding for awhile and am starting to wonder....

Well, this is what I'm using.... and let me know which of these you guys are using... in addition to any I don't have.

- Simple graphical understanding. Cost fluctuations.
- Earnings
- Price/Earnings Ratio
- EPS
- Volume
- Sometimes Moving Averages
- Basic news on company.

My pick right now is GNY. I picked them up at $4.60, and now they're floating at around $5.50. They have huge upside, and I see them sitting at around 6.50-8.00 by Christmas.

My other pickup is THI, which I got in at 27.60.... now at 29.50.

I find that a general consensus between analysts gives a good indication. I'll have to dig up my theory books to quote that research where they tracked the predictions of football analysts and showed that not one person consistently did better than the conglomerate.

Then refine the approach using simple MacD, Bollinger, Stoichastics etc. Further refine that by looking at news releases and industry reaction to releases, as well as look for any trends and post announcement drifts.

That's if I have time....I stay away from using specific ratios as if I don't have time because they are subject to earnings management. The reason is that I'd rather look at all fundamentals rather than just specific ratios because you could be buggered if you look at the wrong snapshot. History of management also helps and how strongly their compensation is tied to firm success (also check for options being exercised).

Again..that's if I have time...

I sometimes also use this guy. (http://forums.beyond.ca/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=153) Djayz's and Mckenzie's opinions ain't bad either.

I've been doing some research at the university on earnings management for one of the accounting profs and its incredible how common it is.... thus making certain performance metrics unreliable or simply misleading without other peices of information.

Also, without similar companies to compare to, many financial statement numbers and performance measures are hard to interpret.

I feel that if you buy the management that you are off to a good start.

I'm a beginner trader but from past experience October tends to be pretty ugly (sea of reds), do you guys try to cash out before Oct and just buy back in later or just ride it out. Or maybe there is nothing special about October and Im just being paranoids

Well I cant be specific as I have found a stack of academic research papers that would go from the floor to your balls, but most of the research has to do with how public companies use discretionary reporting methods in releasing financial reports that will make them look better when in fact they are not. There are also studies on how to detect earnings management and what types of companies it certain cituations are more prone to use certain accruals in financial reporting. Basically it boils down to the fact that financial reporting is very discretionary and many tactics can be used to make things look great (delaying expenses and accruals, speeding up revenue recognition) or terrible (the big bath theory), depending on what the company is trying to acheive.

The papers are very heavy in terms of reading and most of it was over my head. The prof I am doing this for will be doing a research project on this topic but is not sure what his focus will be so I am just gathering the information for him right now and he will be doing a paper at some point in time.

I can try to post some abstracts or if you want a a few PDF files, email me.
