I would wait it out of I were you, mind you I don't hold anything in NG but have been tempted to get into it at such low levels, thinking its really hard for it to go much lower...

Anyone hold any airlines? I have quite a bit of WJA, and have been very happy with the recent returns. It is being projected as high as $20, but I'm not to sure it will make it that high with oil looking the way it does... I wanted to get into AC wayy back when it was trading around 1.50, both still look good to me though.

I thought this last year... and it WOULD go lower. I mean, everything turns around eventually but how long do you want to hold it before you get back to black? I learned the hard way. Then you get back to black and sell because you're just happy to get your money out.

I'm not saying avoid NG, like how others preach... not for the faint of heart. But it can give you good profit and good losses too.

Yup totally agree.
I hesitate playing venture stocks (only got 3 in my portfolio of 20+ stocks).
I see the massive gains/losses on NG and even these potash plays that are all the rage and think fk I should just go with the flow. Then I rmb how much I lost on hnd a while ago and decide the risk is not worth it.

20+ Stocks in your portfolio? How do you effectively manage that?

Decided to jump on the Potash bandwagon. Purchased June 220 Calls of POT at 3.45 up to 4.85 today. 40% On something that I know cannot get sold down to zero value! :) I love options pricing!

expecting oil to find a bottom as early as this week or next week latest before beginning another new trend aiming for new highs

expect bottom between 78-84

NG couldnt rise due to falling oil, but I expect once oil finds a bottom, both NG and oil should begin another run up.

so far expecting NG to be a good buy under 4.00, trend reversal requires NG to re-capture above 4.25 (currently its way over sold on the daily chart)

silver looks like it may be on its last gasp towards 31 or slightly higher, then Id expect it to hit a wall. however short term it remains bullish on most wave count expert, those who got in near 26.x can attampt to hold here for a chance that if 26.5 was a medium term bottom we can have shot at our next target at 50.00, again still having the 22-24 area in the back of my mind so keeping your ammos ready is equally important.

The company has decent conventional assets, but it seems the market always trades them down due to their garbage oil sands project. Bottom line for me though is that there are way better plays to have your money in.

Which large cap plays do you have going?

max_boost
02-15-2011, 12:33 PM
Well trading in and out of the CNQ/SU/TCK/K/POT etc. or I would just track TSX60 with XIU.

But honestly with each positive trading day and index trekking near 14k, make or break I don't know, I'm really nervous lol I've been on this pullback wagon for months now but just have to go with the trend until it reverses. I even picked up some inverse TSX60 (HIX) a few months ago when the index was at 13,100 so I consider that my hedge should things go sour lol

Markets still seasonal? Sell in May and go away?

:D

TheRealTimHorton
02-15-2011, 12:53 PM
Whew... The implied volatility on TCK's options is ranging from 40 to 50%, thats nice premium for such a large stable company. March 55 calls are 4.80

That's actually strange... Why so high?

So are you selling options against your stock or just holding for capital gains? So many opportunities!!!

I'm looking to start going long on volatility through SPY options. See if the market will make a run down for some March lows and then I'll look to get on the trend again.

997TT
02-15-2011, 01:38 PM
Ya same here. 80% of my investing money is with Rbc ds. Portfolio with a medium risk profile given my age and long horizon. But most mid-large caps.
I have a daytrade account that I post on beyond where I buy more spec plays and volatile stocks seeking daily/weekly returns.

I should just my broker all my money as he's kicking ass while I'm not. Lol. But where would the fun in that be. Make more money or have fun and get satisfaction from doing it yourself.... Lol

max; Come on fella, drink the koolaide with the rest of us!

Who doesn't like to make money? Who really wants the market to go down? No one. So, people buy. It's more fun when the market is going up.

People ask me why I'm so bullish (15500! straight shot!), and why not? Should I be pessimistic? How does that help? It doesn't! Lets' buy buy buy!

There has been a TON of cash on the sidelines. People stopped buying mutual funds, stocks etc. Now they see the market is going up and they don't want to 'miss out'. When the market goes parabolic, then, it's time to get out.

That has not happened yet. It will. We'll get an almost instantaneous 500-1000 point rise. THEN you can think about selling.

My friend, dawerks:

A wise man once said:

"Be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful.

I'm not asking for the markets to crash, I'm seeking a correction. I think the term "overbought" has been thrown around a lot. We'll see though. Maybe things are just that rosy. :D

dawerks
02-16-2011, 04:43 PM
Are you hoping for a correction so you can buy more? (That's being greedy!). Is 'hoping' for a correcting being fearful or greedy? (Those market cliche's are always double edged!)

I think there are alot of pissed off people. They sold when the markets crashed a few years ago. They didn't buy when the market was low and now they can't believe how the market has rocketed up. They are 'hoping' for alot of things.

Don't 'Hope'. That only works for American political campaigns. The information we have says we're in a bull run. We've been in a bull run for almost 3 years now! I'm loving it!!

Oh Yeah, LLL = 8 bagger. Woot. But that's nothing, there were people that bought companies that are 50 Baggers. 50!

   I want people to make money (shorting is tough!), so nothing but love and respect for all.

You looking for a long entry or a short entry?

I wouldn't mind shorting here... :D The hype has passed, and as with any speculative stock such as this, typical pump and dump pattern.

My view would be different if they were actually generating revenues, but most exploration companies are the same.

wti isn't trading at actual delivery price.

Brent is well over 100$

Cash deliveries of oil in the gulf are going for over 100$ as well.

WTI is only one of the many oils.... The one that nobody actually uses, or produces that is.

SilverRex
02-18-2011, 08:23 AM
looks like oil has hit the minimum bottom of the 78-84 bottom call a week ago. Over all feels like oil bottom is in and cycle suggest we should have 3-4 months of a strong oil up trend from here, so long 84 oil holds, its going to be 2 steps up and 1 step down for the next few months

This may bold well for NG as well, again anything under 4.00 NG is a good play.

Silver's last bottom was indeed at 26.50, those who took this call should move your stop loss and ride silver as high as possible as next target would be 50.00 but gauging from where gold stands, right now gold TA is calling out to 17xx then pull back and a final thrust towards 2000 gold in 2012

if you use the current gold/silver ration 200 gold = 50 silver (but if the radio contracts to 20:1, then silver would gain even higher to a parabolic potential top of 100 dollar in 2012)

P.S with 100+ oil on the horizon, you know what that means for Alberta oil sands

The juniors have had a tremendous run so it needs time to breathe, go sideways before shooting up again. There will be plenty of time to get in but the big question is, do you think the market will correct? If so, be patient.

If you are itching, get 1/3 of your position now and be prepared to buy the dips.

SLW imo is the best way to play silver. It"s been running 20% markup from spot lately. If the spot price hits a conservative $50 in 2011 SLW will be a easy double.

Any thoughts on the RIM playbooks? I like the company, I like the price to earnings, but I'm not sold on these playbooks. RIM's biggest target is business and I don't know if I'd ever use one.

Crazy. Futures of the major indexes down all across the board.

Oil up $7.55 to $93.75 (+8.76%)
Gold up $20.50 to $1409.10 (+1.48%)

Shit is nuts in Libya.

If the overseas markets are any indication, tomorrow is going to be a blood bath on the markets.

HK and China both down 2%.
Nikkei is down 1.7%.

TSX is resource heavy and while commodities are up, this isn't the type of news to cause the equities to go up along with it.

Sleep tight everyone. LOL

I wager an 'atta boy and you're the bestest' that we hit 14,500 before 13,500. I think I won the last call :)

Is anyone buying the oil ETF's on speculation that the middle east situation gets worse?

If so, which ETF are you trading?
