45% drop for NFK and no news out? I'm not in on this one but that seems like something has leaked.

Panic selling is unreal today. I wouldn't sell yet. I may buy more today depending on where we get down to today. The sell off today is 1000% pure fear. I doubt there's a leak. I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't even perfed yet.

I don't know why people are saying its halted? IIROC has nothing about it yet?
EDIT: NM, just saw it.

Company: Africa Hydrocarbons Inc.
TSX-Venture Symbol: NFK
Reason: Pending News
Halt Time (ET) 12:28
edit: so it's not necessarily the end of the world, but results are delayed
CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Nov. 22, 2013) - Africa Hydrocarbons Inc. (TSX VENTURE:NFK) ("AHI" or the "Company") announces an operational update regarding its BHN-1 exploration well on the Bouhajla Permit in northeastern Tunisia where the Company has a 47.5% working interest.
The Operator, DualEx Energy International Inc., has attempted to complete three separate intervals of the Abiod formation. These intervals were chosen based on log data interpretations suggesting the intervals had the highest occurrence of natural fractures, higher matrix porosity and hydrocarbon saturations. Following perforating, attempts were made to inject acid into the formation to clean up the near wellbore zone and enhance the reservoir's natural permeability. The acid injections could not be completed suggesting the perforation of the wellbore was ineffective. As a result, the Operator acquired additional log data and is planning further diagnostic measures to ascertain whether the wellbore was perforated as expected. The wellbore will now be suspended while awaiting the arrival of wellbore imaging equipment into the country, which is expected within 30 days.
The operational issues regarding the completion will delay the evaluation of BHN-1 however the Company believes this unexpected result needs to be thoroughly investigated in order to resolve the problem for the next completion attempt if the analysis indicates the absence of effective perforations.

If you're in for free, ride until the end. Haven't lost a lot really. only a few hundred as at .10. Still a SPEC play. We'll see what next week holds after people get some rest over the weekend. I did that... Then bought back in a bunch today while it was on its way down (didn't think it would drop this much) :( hopefully the speculation can bring it back up enough that I can cash out and either break even, or only lose a few hundred.

Kinda figure the hype will build back up come christmas/new year, so I'm not saying it's done yet. We've all seen plenty of holes that don't go as expected but still end up paying out, no reason at this point to think some botched perf's are a game over. Though I have no idea how you botch perfs....lol.
I'll keep my holdings, watch it till next friday and maybe throw some more spending money in there.

I know, it just didn't make sense at the time. The NR was good and showing growth again, but what wasn't included in the NR was word of their marketing exec leaving. That is what scared everyone and caused the pull back (why, I don't know). I think we will see growth back to over $40 by the end of the week though. It let me get a few more shares for cheap.

I'm not sure if anyone is in or following LXV (LX Ventures) but I just wanted to add some more information since my original post. This stock hit $0.91 today and it just blows my mind the run it has been on. I didn't get in until the $0.30's and I expected to be long gone by now.
Since then they have actually put their website live (beta/test mode) and after taking a look it is a very interesting idea. it seems to be a combination of multiple social media platforms however they are sharing revenue with the celebrities they sign up (I'm not sure if they are sharing revenue with all users or not). They don't have any huge celebrities (Pamela Anderson, Slash, Romeo Miller) at the moment but just a few big ones can really make this grow quickly. So basically you ask a celebrity/person a question and they respond. It looks like for you to read some of the responses you are forced to view a quick ad first.
You can view an ad example here:
http://www.mobioinsider.com/mobiotesting
So I figured I'd be out of this stock now (have sold some to take profits) but I'm starting to like the concept here and considering holding on to see where this goes.
My question is what do everything think of this site/platform? Is this something you could see yourself using occasionally? It maybe more geared to a younger crowd but my gut is telling me there maybe something here. I'd love to hear your thoughts before I make a decision on when to exit this trade.

I've been looking at LXV for a couple of weeks now. I've been on the sideline and banging my head against the wall the entire time. Quite a run its had. I've had a few orders to buy but havent managed to fill an order. Trying my hardest not to chase it.
So far the product itself looks interesting. Their plan to monetize seems smart. I havent seen too many details but I like the concept. They'll really need some big names to hop on board in order to make it a success though.
One thing I dont like is that anyone can post all kinds of silly things on the "wall" of the celebrity. I am not just talking about spam but stupid comments. I suppose they may have to employ moderators or something. I am not a huge fan of the name/url either.
I am not a big tech guy so this isnt really my sector. Not really sure what to compare this too either. I'll continue watching (actively) from the sidelines for now. Congrats to you though, this has been a great run.

All the gold plays have gotten beaten badly the last little while. I feel gold still has some downside so I am playing the miners very cautiously.
I used to trade DGC in the teens and twentys not so long ago. Two other plays that have been beaten are SMF and DPM.
IIRC DGC produces at a cost higher than current spot. I could be wrong on this though. If that is the case I cant see anything good for them in the next little while. Maybe someone else has some more recent insight on DGC specifically. I think 997TT used to play this one but I am not sure if he is still around these parts.
For miners I like YRI (bigger play) and IMG for the short term bounces.

you are correct in that they basicalyl arent making money mining, but there is some optimism that they can become more efficient since opening the new mine was very expensive.

im sure you know but traders always have their list of popular stocks and whenever there is a new release they play the momentum swings. Buy high sell higher, short low, cover lower etc. There is zero fundamentals behind the volatility. Remember before daytraders and computers controlled %99.99 of the daily market activity, you'd get a news release and a stock would fluctuate %0.5 or so. 1/4 point or 1/2 point moves. Way more reliable. At this point with the trillions in cheap money sloshing around the big banks and brokerage firms, there is zero difference between the stock market and the bitcoin market. It's all computers running technical algorithms buying and selling numbers. Fundamentals are completely meaningless in the short term.

Then I ask you this...
If the tiny movements/fluctuations on a day to day basis are meaningless (essentially random), then how do you continuously add up these tiny meaningless movements over a longer period of time to arrive at what you would call "fundamentals", which make logical sense?

Weird market reaction on that though. Right after halt it went up to .265 and then fizzled out to only .23 ( .01 above yesterday's close)
Do you know much about cobalt mining to interpret the results? Out of the 7 they analyzed out of the 49, looks like they have about .15% cobalt. I think .25 or .30% cobalt would have been a lot better.
Either way I like it though. My avg price is around .15 but I might add some more if I can get some more cash together. Potential here is huge...

Ya it was a weird day....
Even though the stock halted and news was released I don't think a lot of people saw that since the volume was pretty low before and after the immediate spike when trading resumed.
As far as I know .1% cobalt is considered economic so the assays seem pretty good, plus there are other metals. Looking forward to next week and some more assays being analyzed.

I see the risks: they make no money, don't appear to have a plan to make money, shrinking book value, and have $200 million in debt (on a $15 million market cap). Where is the reward? I bet I could get into this stock at half today's price a year from now as they appear to be on a one way slide to zero.

no. when you exercise you will pay the $7/sh tax on them.
Then your cost of the share is $26/share and then you can roll it into your TFSA.
I am not aware of any way to shelter your stock options from tax or else everyone in calgary would be doing it.

^that being said, if you have the money, exercise and hold the shares. Its much easier to sell if shit hits the fan. You press a button and sell.
Rather than most people, if the price goes down, you tend not to exercise because you're not at the "all time high" and you watch your options become worthless. true story, i've seen it many times w/ friends.

Of course they do. They are probably fighting with hali over who covers the cost. My guess is hali will end up having to cover it if NFK/DXE can prove they messed up anywhere along the line. If Hali was good at covering their ass, NFK/DXE will be on the hook.
Fingers crossed the crew messed up somewhere and its not a NFK/DXE cost.

Who ever is putting together the company's NR's is leaving out some pretty important information like WTF actually was seen on the imaging. This is a pretty big song and dance (not to mention wait) to simply say they're going to try again.
My $0.02 is this: if they're going to try to perf again, I would imagine that they didn't perf the first time and those old charges they used were scrap or they have some Tunisian monkeys running the service rig. I spoke with John Nelson in November and he said that they couldn't inject acid in the reservoir even under max pressure which makes it pretty clear there was no perf. I asked him that when they pulled everything out of the well if there was any indication for wellbore damage and he provided a strong no other then possible slight surface corrosion or scaling from acid in the hole.
So who knows. I've been holding since April in the black still, but would really like for this to hit oil, good prod, $1.00 SP and GFTO! Getting sick of this shit haha.

I don't know for sure, but that is the word around the stockhouse boards. Could all be BS though :dunno:
The fact they are trying again says that perf was not successful. It also says the bore is in good enough shape to handle a second attempt (or at least they think it is).
"$1.00 SP and GFTO!" This is pretty much my thinking as well. Watch it spike and run.

The CEO stepped down so hopefully some new blood will help this stock. He sold in 2009/2010 for ~100/share so he was useless after that for shareholders.
I also want to buy but this stock is pretty high risk.

I has little to do with the staff, and a lot to do with the price of NG I think.
Wont see a climb in this stock until we see NG prices go back up.

I bought more yesterday for around $2.25. Up nicely today.
I can see them doing extremely well, they are positioned great..
But yes, it is extremely risky.. I'm either counting on $0 or $10-$15 by 2015..

Bought some Paladin Resources today. Not a fan of uranium anything right now, but markets are waiting for news on the minority interest sale, at which point should make a good 25%ish. Sky's the limit if uranium spot climbs past $40.

I have a good feeling that with them breaking into the soccer (football) world, this has a lot more potential. Doubled up my position earlier today.

About a 10-bagger now for those of you who bought WSX on my recommendation a few years back and exercised their warrants on RRX.

Unfortunately, I had to clear out all 3 of my trading accounts and close them in April as I left the country and went non-resident. I would have continued to hold if I could though. A few people on here asked me my thoughts and I advised them to keep holding.
I don't post in this thread much anymore as I've been unable to open new trading accounts as my new residence (Yemen) is deemed high risk by banks and don't seem to want to deal with me. :(

Had a bit of a stressful weak - my first foray into real short-term trading and made a nice 27% on some PDN shares bouncing around.
But wtf just happened with NFK? Up 26% at the close! Another leak???

Seems weird that is for sure. I think its probably just a blip and will go back down a little on Monday. Let's hope I'm wrong though.
