Sure wish I got in on that train, when did it first get mentioned in here?

I think I first mentioned it here around 6 cents. My average is 5.5 cents pre split, $1.44 post :D. I'm disappointed to see that the earnings weren't posted late last night, hopefully they will be release this afternoon. It was confirmed that they had announced they would be released by March 31st during a small investor conference.

Prime entry point would of been right after the public offering if you didn't want the risk of buying a penny stock on the OTC. Think shares could of been had for $3.20-$3.40 if I'm not mistaken.

INA was a bit of a disappointment, I was hoping that .075 would break and run up to 9-10 cents. Oh well. I'll hang around for a bit. Kind of a fun play.

Niko resources (NKO) looks like another beat up stock that could jump 50%+ pretty easily in the next couple of months. Not sure if anybody here follows drilling in India, but reliance or BP could pick them up for lunch money.

Any takers on NKO? Up 20% today ;)

Momentum from this stock will gain from the retirement or removal of Harvey Berger from the board. While the approval of Iclusig in other countries is great for revenue, and the long term position of the company it is not what most of the shareholders want. Most of the big money in Ariad wants a buy out. It is rumoured that buy outs have been offered in the $14-$16 range however the current CEO has declined the offers. Alex Denner, who I'm sure you know if your investing in biotech has been actively trying to make this happen because he wants his huge position bought out so he can move on to the next big win. Just my $0.02, it's all an educated theory.

They do have quite the climb.

Any particular reason you think now's the time to buy? Shockwaves from the Shell/BG deal? Something else?

No particular reason to be honest, just sold off some other stock and was looking for a spot to park the money for a year or two. I had been following Encana for some time and figured anything within the $10-13 range would be a bargain.

Do you just have most of your money in US or what advantage do you see for their US listing vs TSX? Volume is higher, but TSX volume is good enough?

That's fair enough... There seem to be a few good options as far as major / large co's that would be a suitable and safe place to park some money.

Though, when you mention a stock, it's always worth asking

BavarianBeast
04-09-2015, 01:53 PM
No advantage really. I would say about 40% of my money is in US right now. I only bought on the NYSE because I had just sold a company on the Nasdaq and I didn't want to take my profits on the spike in the US dollar over the past 6 months. I'm just banking that the US dollar will continue to climb.

Just a heads up, Parex just had a 119m bought deal to fund exploration and opportunistic acquisitions.

Makes you wonder if they've been in talks with any of the other columbian producers.

Chucky gamba said about a year ago they had been approached with offers but were declined.

Me thinky PTA and CNE are looking like awesome buys. $.02.

I'd love to see a buyout in the $16-$20 range...Pipe dream, sure, but ideally that's my play on the stock.

Though I would unload my shares at any spikes over $12 right now. I'm up pretty good on it now but think the run up has just begun. Lots of momentum building for them right now.

LQDT spiked this morning just on better than expected earnings.

I think they have been beaten down to a pulp and believe they are making the right decisions and moves to spin the company in the right direction.

I think the ER today was a good indication of where this company is heading now and think there is a lot stirring with the DoD that will benefit them.

Well, after a shaky morning, things were up 5% on the day. Not a home run as far as pharma goes, but I'm happy.

Also considering DIRTT. Does anyone have any ideas about how the energy industry uncertainty will affect them? I haven't been able to figure out what percentage of their business is related to that (I'm assuming lots, but don't actually know).

these are the wall guys right? being from calgary, yeah i'd say pretty heavy. we use to work with them (at my old job) and i'd say with anything high end they'd be in on the quote, U of C digital library has their system, but i think anything else we did was O&G

I've been debating on this one for about a week, but haven't bought yet.

edit: I've also been watching BLUE. Does anyone hold this? I'm wondering how much further it will drop before it starts to head up again. They're down 6% so far today.

Some info from the q1 results:

"Top-line growth continues to reflect solid improvements in our numbers and demonstrate the strength and scalability of our business model," said Derek Payne, CFO of DIRTT. "While we haven't seen any slowdown or disruptions from our energy clients, we do recognize this segment of our business could be impacted going forward. We are, however, confident in the long-term prospects for all other industry segments and geographic markets where DIRTT is becoming the new standard for interior construction."

Tried looking up news. Looked at their performance and numbers. Can't find a reason to buy.

Do you know something I don't? haha

I looked into XBI about a year ago, I have been watching it since and kicking myself in the ass for not finding an entry. Perhaps I should now..

Chugging along quite nicely.

Would be nice to see 10% gain each week :)

Haha, you'd be surprised. Chart it on 5yr against the Dow, its a really good pick on most time frames.

What I meant was with my RSP stuff... I had hit a wall on where to invest it and just had it all in cash. Mostly it is parked in FAP collecting dividends.

For the rest I finally let loose and took up a position in MEG the other day, and also picked up some L (Loblaws) and some DC.A (Dundee Corp).

I am also now the proud owner of a whole 10 shares of HCB... lol... I dunno, I just noticed I had 300$ left over in my otherwise inactive margin account for some reason so I tossed it out there, haha. Come on... make me 5$ so I can get a coffee!

You are at a different life stage than me I guess. Does make a big difference.

Just finished my application for EI :burnout:

Of course, I am actively looking for work.

Bought LNR a couple weeks ago, very pleased so far with it. Also really happy with XBI as of late.

Now if only POU and TOU would head back up...

Keurig (GMCR) is trading near a 52 week low right now. Might be a good time to start keeping an eye on them if anyone has thought of getting into the food sector. I think they could be a good buy :dunno:
