I decided to dump XBI at 252. Not as good as it would have been yesterday, but still represents a great gain for me. I think I'm going to put my money either into FHLC or IHF. Haven't decided which yet, but leaning towards IHF.

So, who bought what when things hit the shitter yesterday?

I thought about buying XBI again, but didn't get an order in and missed out on the $241 price. I think it's gonna dip down again though, it's got a pretty high premium on it right now so I don't think it's gonna stay at the $250 mark.

I did buy CTSH this morning though. I've been watching them for a while, and I think the shares are going to do well. I plan on holding at least until the next quarterly announcement in Aug; possibly longer.

I bought some more DRT yesterday and also helped my girlfriend invest her savings. She got lucky, and we bought all of her stocks within an hour of closing. She is already up a decent chunk from taking advantage of the hit yesterday.

I thought about doubling down (again) on dirtt, but just couldn't bring myself to do it. I've already got enough money with them and i'm still not 100% confident that they're gonna do super well this year. I have my reservations about the impact the energy industry will have on their bottom line, and my investment reflects that.

I got back in XBI today. I want to keep my exposure to the USD, might as well be long on my favorite industry while I do it.

It is my only holding, and I feel it will be my only holding for a while.

I almost bought back in yesterday, but decided to wait it out a bit with my current holdings. I still don't like how much of a premium is on XBI right now.

Scott Saxburg (CEO) and Greg Turnbull (BOD) recently picked up 3100 ($78k) and 29,000 ($0.75M) shares, respectively.

You might want to transition Crescent Point from your short term to your long term play. :)

The shelf offering was not received well by the market, nor was Iran (about to) sign an agreement, but long term netbacks look good - even at $60 WTI.

I picked up quite a few $20 calls today, looking forward to Q2 earnings on Aug 13.

No thanks lol, I need the capital turn around. I avoided about 50+ cents of downside today on it, re bought at end of day. If nothing nice happens tomorrow I'll be out. The buying power is more useful to me in other places.

If you are betting on a recovery you could just go YINN as well

I missed out on the ~70% gains on YANG after i first posted. Actually lost some money on it. Worst trader ever

Both YINN and YANG take too much margin because of the recent volatility, which is why I didn't go into shares. No point if lose the margin advantage and can't work any other positions.

I didn't like the options chain on YINN, not much selection, which is why I didn't go for the calls.

At least going long options I can know exactly how much I lose.. Of course, the downside is slippage because of bid/ask spreads and the price decay. We shall see though.

Similar to my thoughts. So close to having my TFSA back at even... id just like to carry a 10-30% gain on the entire thing and then just let it sit for an oil rebound... if that ever happens at this point though.

Maybe ill just stick to big american companies and forget about oil...

Anyone else feel like they missed the train not hopping on amazon hype the last week when they announced amazon prime day? Easy 10% damn it!

If that was my money, I'd crystallize profits and then put some money into Amazon, they're reporting earnings next week.

On another note, anyone own Google? I was going to pick some up before the announcement yesterday, but time just slipped by me and the announcement came earlier than I thought :(

Im kicking myself over not being in amazon for the last week and a half.

Simple peter lynch logic - everyone is talking about it or doing it (amazon prime day) - this was also my logic on NFLX - orange is the new black, house of cards etc. EVERYONE seems to watch these shows nowadays + expansion

Seems like morgan stanley thinks they will have a nice pop too.

Agreed, I dealt with them a bunch and every time felt like they were useless/completely retarded. It took I think 5 conversations and an escalation before someone was finally able to give me a 'disposal of ceased trading assets' form (or whatever it was called).

But the actual buying/selling/depositing/withdrawing was fine, just don't let yourself get caught in any funny situations. Execution felt slow but have no evidence that was the case.

I'm thinking of swapping my TBE to BTE. I'd bet more on BTE getting back to the 33 range than tbw getting back to a 1.20.

I'm also sitting sidelined right now as I want to let the market bleed out first, there is literally not a single support line for oil and it needs to tumble anyways. My biggest concern is how long oil is going to stay in this 40-50 range for go forward as that is the tale that will be important. I'm still bullish in a 1-2 year pop back to the 70's but who knows!

I think Energy in general is going to go down before it goes up.

Also, has anyone watched TET the last couple days? It's been going crazy. I put my eggs in a couple other Riddell/Rose baskets a couple months back (POU, TOU), and thinking of switching them over to TET if/when things drop again. This is more a long term investment thread topic than short though, the way WTI prices are going haha

Lastly, PER. I'm thinking of gambling a bit with this. My dad got in on the IPO, and despite share price going down since then, the business case looks great. :dunno:

I have to agree. Between Iran, the Chinese downturn, the growth in alternative energy tech, and the fact that supply simply hasn't scaled back as much as it should we're gonna be in this for quite a while longer.

Too many companies can make money at $50 oil, so until they start going bankrupt nothing will change. Once I see that signal I'll start buying back in.

Made a small profit on UWTI after 830 EIA report. Federal report out at 12 our time. May wait to see how markets react and try to catch a ride.

Also - anyone considering FB earnings? Last two havent done so well for them...

I'm up 20% on FB over the last couple months. I sold to dabble with LABU a bit, and bought FB back when it dipped yesterday - I'll be holding them through earnings.

RE: Your statement on the last two FB announcements - A wise man once told me last quarter's performance is a reliable indicator of last quarter's performance.

FB reports figures that beat analysts forecasts on all front, yet stock prices drop in after hours trading. Classic.

Haha jk. But seriously, if they dip again in the next week or two I'll probably pick up some more. I would expect they'll split within the next 6-12 months. My AMZN discussion belongs in the long term investments thread for sure. haha

edit: and on that note, DIRT announcement is this coming Tuesday. Here's hoping they weren't hurt too badly by the downturn!

I've been buying sto.asx when it dips below $7 with pretty good success.

Anyone know somewhere to find reports or updated lists on top after hours or pre market movers?? Lots of lists in Yahoo recapping the day's events and even intraday movers but having a hard time finding after hours and pre market

Well, sold my CTSH this morning for a nice little 8% gain over when I bought again a couple days ago.

Still waiting patiently for DIRTT to come up. Seems like they posted good numbers, but share price still dropped a ton on opening today. Maybe someone who knows more about low volume/ low cap holdings like this one can explain to me WTF is going on?

Not sure why its dropping with a not too shabby quarter result... I'll keep buying into the weakness I guess.

If you read a bit into the report, it looks like they have jobs lined up all the way into 2016 plus they're hiring/marketing very aggressively.

Q2 is also when they have the DIRTT Connext which is training for their staff as well as hosting tours and media relations presentations. They spent almost double what they did last year (increase in staff as well as attendance by clients). This marketing/training should benefit DIRTT into the rest of the year.

"The improvement in revenue over Q2 2014 was largely supported by strong growth from our core business focused on small and medium enterprise, with only a minimal contribution from larger projects," said Scott Jenkins, President of DIRTT. "In recent quarters we have seen a greater impact from bigger contracts as they become a more regular piece of our business but, while they typically introduce upside volatility, their contribution can vary from quarter to quarter and we have seen work on current projects shift to late 2015 and into 2016."

Yeah I had generally the same feelings as you guys. Goddamn retail investors throwing the market off haha.

I read the report early this AM and that quote that you posted is the only reason I can think of that has any basis for the drop in share price - deferred revenue.

Guess we'll see what the next few months have in store. Chalk this one up to a long term investment for me haha.
