MEG is such a sketchy stock, haha
I sold it for 14.88 a while back
I sold IMG yesterday at $2.37, no complaints from me.
I'm still in MEG though and taking a thorough beating on TBE.

I've been taking a beating in all my O&G stocks, but especially BDI.TO.
I still have faith in the stock in the long term (way long term...). Can't decide if I should double down or not. Ahh the decisions.

I read that as paying a dividend still in general but i could be wrong haha.
What would you guys dip into these days?
I swapped my TBE for BTE. The chances of TBE 5 folding back to 1.5 is probably a hell of a lot less likely than BTE 5 folding back to 35.

They are paying a dividend, but they cut it down in amount. A "cut" of the dividend is a reduction, not an overall "suspension."

Oh yeah i know 23 to 10 cents. Was more so referring that I thought OP knew they cut down but are still maintaining a dividend (as in paying one).

Let alone buying o&g... I don't know why anyone would take that kind of risk these days.
I know you guys want a big reward but honestly I think a better move is to catch it on its way up vs buying now during very uncertain times. Iran hasn't even released their supplies yet and it's already at $40... Good luck

Oil shorts are at 176 million barrels a day vs 56 million back in June.
Also these are levels seen past the 08 crash.
I have no doubts oil will have a 3 handle soon enough but i'd rather buy when the street is bloody. You will find a million arguments going for either direction on crude but at the end of the day very few people are making money at $40 oil and that can only be sustained for so long before you get a draw down on production. As quickly as oil went to 40 it can go back to 80 the question is when. I'm not flipping it next week i'm holding it for 4-5 years. if i missed 10-20 percent more on the downside so be it, but i'd rather be in than be out. I'm not fully in either i'm just making some positions.

I would argue today is a very good day to get in on companies that were too expensive before. Sure, might drop a bit more in the next few weeks but anyone who thinks Encana is going to be 8 bucks a year from now would be the risky one.

What point are you trying to make by showing a 5 year chart? Previous price does not have any bearing on the future. Oil was 100+ the last 5 years so of course these companies were a lot higher. Now it's $40 and by 80% consensus, not expected to get back to even 70s for at least 1.5-2 years. These companies will continue to bleed cash and will either go belly up/bought out
Anyways that's just my opinion. I work for a big producer so I am hoping that it recovers as much as everyone else. I'm out of the markets right now (sold everything for my house DP) so I can look at it from the outside and be realistic instead of having emotions interfere

Consensus really means nothing at the end of the day. How much consensus was there on an oil crash lol...
At the end of the day it's a cycle and as I've said picking a bottom is never easy but sometimes you just make the decision where you are comfortable with. The fundamentals suck etc etc there is no doubt about that.
There will be always be two sides to this.
Nonetheless get ready for a shitty day in the markets globally

:nut: We should be in for a rough week since the markets in China are limited to "only" dropping 10% per day before trading is halted on specific stocks. So I figure given the panic and lack of government intervention that everyone in China was expecting there is going to be a few weeks worth of panic selling at this rate. Will be interesting to see if they freeze their markets once more.
So glad none of my global ETF's hold positions in the Chinese markets.

reminds me of playing Bank of America at $1.50 when I gamble with 5k shares. it had like a 5 dollar swing within minutes of market open.
I even told my self had I have the funds to play further I would have loaded up on a safer play with APPL at 82 dollars then (this is before the 7 to 1 split or maybe even more I cant recall how many times they split)
As Warren Buffett puts it "“Be Fearful When Others Are Greedy and Greedy When Others Are Fearful"
I may pickup some ishare China ETF if china drops another 15-20% as a short term play.
Oil is (IMO) chasing a classic decade long double bottom in the 30s. take it for what is worth but I believe once this double bottom is in, oil will be beginning to set it self up for the 200+ run. Alberta's better days are ahead.

It's going to drop more for sure since their market is limited to only dropping 10% a day before trading is halted on individual securities. So I'm not too sure why you would try to buy in after only another 15-20% drop seeing as with the amount of government control going on over there it's nigh impossible to properly value their markets.

well 15-20% will start to get my attention is really what it means. after all if you look at the SSE composite index the range for the last 15+ years is between 1000 and 6000 roughly. so if it dives towards 2500.00 it starts to become attractive. (I am also basing an uptrend-line that currently supports in around the 2250-2500 area.
This isnt some penny stock that can crash straight to zero value. I highly doubt it will break below 2000 just because the world will always be greedy and all the big players (probably all from the chinese gov' themselves) will load right up.

Don't beat yourself up. Nobody can predict the future accurately. Having said that, I think Shanghai is still overvalued by about 15%. I'm not convinced the blood letting is over yet. I guess what I'm referring to is the fact that it usually takes a lot longer for oil price to recover than it does for it to deteriorate if you look at past crashes/corrections....but who knows. Anything could happen really. For the sake of my job, I certainly am hoping for a quick recovery. haha

That's fair lol. I gather it is some short covering but who knows how far shorts can push it down again. Maybe it's just a correction to a sustainable 45 lol.

technically I am guessing oil has to hit a double bottom around the last low around 33 bucks. although it does not really have to dip below 33 to qualify a classic abc bottom. I still feel oil as more downside pressure especially with an all important bloodmoon and shemitah cycle ending on September 13th, 2015. All eyes are watching to see if something significant will happen there.
I have been reading rumors/conspiracies that say China will reveal they are holding mass amount of gold/silver in epic proportion the world has ever seen in order to calm the people of China from it's latest stock market turmoil. In an effort to take center stage to become the world reserve currency. Gold/silver will then explode and the ratio will change from 1 to 80 to 1 to 8.
I am actually watching gold/silver mining stocks very closely. Silver just touched off 14.00 which is both a 78% fab retrace and support uptrend.
