looking at the energy sector. one can only argue that the chart looks like it has 1 more thrust towards a final wave V top so my faith remains in the energy sector for the next few weeks

im selling rest of my labu and moving into energy instead
so far hgd working out up 4%, will set my stop at entry once it moves a little higher.
if gold crashes here, miners could be setup for a powerful wave 3 off the cliff move down (thats what I am hoping) since I want to get back in this sector :nut:

I shoulda jumped on the NUGT short train... 1H oversold, and 15m was oversold near beginning of trading day.
Oh well there will be more opportunities

one has to take a side, I am picking short miners here. while no confirmation but risk is low by getting in here with tight stop. if price (gdx im using as gauge) can reclose back into the down trendline this would indicate a false breakout follow by selloff with 2nd confirmation below wave b. an ambitious target of a fast drop down to 20

looks like oil has completed 5 waves this morning and in wave 2 correction. as long as we remain above the down trendline, my expectation is another 5 waves up move once the bottom is in possible starting at 45.5 (38%)

Jumped out of LABU, watched it tank further, and back in lower. It's been pretty predictable after the first plunge today. The consolidation is getting squeezed.
I'd like to say I'd be shocked if it breaks to the low side. But I wouldn't be. This thing has turned from a frustration to a fascination.

nice sudden strength in meg about time, will look to take some profit of the table when Meg gets to it's first major resistance between 6.2-6.4
even if this is a bear market, a 38% bounce back to 6.21+ would be a bare min to get out of the oversold condition

Do you find a ton of value analyzing the individual stock instead of just watching crude? I personally have not
Crude goes, stocks go, vice versa. Except i guess Meg has been dogging it for the last little bit

not really for myself. I like looking at sectors more so than individual stocks, some times you win big (like how Meg was moving when oil first came out of the 26 dollar bottom) but some times you lose and would have been better trading indexes or oil ETF directly.

I am going to hold my HGD overnight to see if it can gap up tomorrow (as in gold down after hours)

Not holding LABU overnight. Taking a very small profit and reevaluating tomorrow.
I wish I was around to sell MEG after that pop and then re-buy after it filled the gap. Oh well.

another thing I am monitoring is sil and ipt. these are silver penny companies. when silver came off the bottom in december, it went up 1500%, so if and when miners corrects enough I may put in a small play for a longer term hold because if silver ever gets back to 50+, it may be a good risk.reward play.
SilverRex
05-12-2016, 02:32 PM
here is my personal observation and call.
first silver has formed a clear H&S pattern a break below neckline will target 16.00 and at the gold /silver ratio at 74 that puts gold at 1188
now lets look at the gold chart. I think gold will test 1180-1190 which will be the perfect support/entry/target.
reason why 1180-1190 will be the ultimate target.
1-A backtest of the previous breakout down trendline.
2-50% retracement of the entire rally to 1303 area
3-200EMA support as price typically regress back to mean
4-MACD divergence gold sell off into ICL is inevitable.
5-1180 area is also the 50EMA on the weekly chart.
6-Most important the drop to 1188 from 1303 is 8.8% which is like the late 70s when gold did not correct more than 9% for the entire run.
well one might say but ICL cant just finish in a couple of moves down? well the top was actually in March. the breakout to 1303 was a wave B and so wave C which will be sharp and will end fast giving us this correctional time frame right into end of May.
if this comes true I am going to take a very long vacation lol

Changed my mindset, no longer fighting the trend and bottom fishing with LABU. Still nervous to touch LABD at this point, so scalping every move between resistance and support.
10% gain today, staying out when I can't sit and keep an eye on it. Everything seems on the precipice either way, but I will look to be loaded up before ASCO.

riander5
05-13-2016, 11:26 AM
Why are you nervous to touch LABD? In my opinion it is all based on what trends you are trading
You cant be trading based off 5m while looking at daily trends.
trade 1w based off 1m trend, trade 1d based off 1w, 1h based off 1day etc etc
If the 1hour or whatever the overlying trend is down down down, use 5-10-15 m to pick entry points on the way down
Thats what im currently doing with NUGT
But i missed my entry yesterday at 145 our time because I was at the gym :(
(Trading 15m, using 1h as overlying trend)

Maybe flawed, but my opinion is Biotech is super oversold right now, and I'm looking to hold a long position for a longer period eventually.
We are still in a down trend however, so yes, LABD would be the vehicle to make a ton of money right now, but only for very short term trades.
I'm hoping, once a bounce is seen, to turn shorter holds into longer and longer holds, and to be able to move stops up with it as resistance is seen.
So basically get longer and longer with my holds when the trend finally reverses.
Is this a ridiculous strategy? I'm open to feedback.

Sounds good to me, I had thought with all the chatter in this thread everyone was daytrading, and if so then the weekly/monthly trends might not make a massive difference.
If you are looking to accumulate longterm though.... Is LABU the best vessel, or can you buy options on XBI? Not sure if Leveraged ETF's decay is worse than the time value you pay on options.
To be honest I need to read a book on options... Other than the fact that they go up and down exponentially with stocks, I know next to NIL about entry and exit strategies, and all the various volatility (The greeks) that are associated with them
SilverRex
05-13-2016, 12:41 PM
looks like Meg cant sustain any type of rally unless oil breaks out to a new high. the only positive is that yesterday was up on decent volume and today the sell volume is very pathetic which tells me sellers are exhausted.
looks like SM is moving into a larger degree wave 2 correction a new historical high will have to wait until it bottoms and make ready for a wave 3
SilverRex
05-13-2016, 12:54 PM
DOW is right at the previous breakout trendline. we will not see if this support holds, other wise this H&S breakdown will target the 38-61% retracement in the 16500-17100 range in the coming weeks.
if price can invalidate the right shoulder with a trendline break, that will obviously trigger technical buying and a new high is back on the table.

For longer term play, I was going to suggest using XBI as well. This has worked out well for me in the past (can't comment on options).

Meg does not look to bad after bouncing off near the 61% retracement near 5.13 (at 5.21)
it is now in a much larger rising channel which I hope will continue to provide support and guidance. After such steep selloff a lot of work and resistance lies ahead. First wall at 6.00 already rejected and so long oil can continue to step higher beginning next week my next target level is 6.21-6.45
The one positive today is the sell volume is one of the weakest in many months. The last few times it was this low it usually results in some decent higher prices ahead simply because there are no sellers until price moves higher.
count wise I suspect this is a wave 2 correction with 7.84 being the top of wave I

looks like gold broke a down trend line and wants to move higher. Not a surprise if gold is infact as some calling this the final wave 5 rally above 1303. However gold/silver ratio this morning still on the weaker side and silver hasnt broken out like gold has, so will see if it is any chance of a false break out here.
if I get stopped out in HGD will wait, may re-enter if it is in fact a false breakout.
oil looking good to start the week, will try to take some profit on Meg if it pops and buy back low

Was holding LABU over the weekend hoping for it. Dumped immediately, and will watch and see if XBI can hold 51 or if this is another false breakout.

dumped half of my Meg at 6.00 this morning, will dump the rest at 6.25-6.45 as that is the next major resistance. then will look for swing lows and rebuy with a much lower position to reduce my exposure/risk ;)
also exited my small PWT play as the earnings report mention of chance of default just isnt a good gamble for me no matter how little I invest.

Dumped 1/3 of MEG at 6.10, back in Biotech as this breakout looks to be for real for the time being. My goal was to have a large position prior to ASCO, so this may turn into my medium term position if the larger trend is able to reverse.

ok gold just got it's first knock down but now right up against the down trend line which it broke out of.. if only it can close/break below it and signal a false breakout other wise this is a backtest to cause more gold buyer..
lower time frame Meg looks like it has hit wave 3 this morning and is coiling up in wave 4 for another shot up possibly 6.2-6.3

SilverRex
05-16-2016, 12:47 PM
well Meg is at a cross road. it has enough reason to be rejected here around 6.37 and make a dash to the bottom of this new rising channel to fill the gap under 6.00 but depending on how oil moves, it can also break away but any jump above this channel by 30-50 cents should take profit immediately as it will most likely fall right back down to test the new support at 6.35-6.40

I just want my $7 options to be worth at least $0.40 before they expire Friday
SilverRex
05-16-2016, 12:54 PM
well clearly it has two paths but I am putting my bet that it will jump higher because oil looks like it is doing the same coiling as Meg was in the morning except Meg broke out first so if oil breaks out and hits 48+ then Meg should also pop, although I do not think it can hit 7.00 by friday simply because there is a downtrend line that should act as a pretty strong resistance on first pass near 6.7-6.75
and depending on how the wave structure goes, there are correctional waves after big run ups.
yes it can also simply just keep marching higher day after day, we've seen this with Meg before.
SilverRex
05-16-2016, 01:02 PM
this is what I am thinking and want to see
since this is wave III (imo) of course it can just keep going but somehow I feel after a such sell off for over 3 weeks it takes a bit more work to rebuild the momentum and so I am only expecting a 5 wave that should not exceed 7-7.5, then the next 5 wave will be the one that would take it to new heights. (assuming oil continues to show strength)

Took most of the ride up. Lost a bit of the action as I'd seen it gap up only to fill the gap same day too many times.
Also not going to hold overnight tonight.
Willing to miss out on another gap to wait for some confirmation signs that LABU is still the play tomorrow.
I dumped my MEG a little prematurely today. Was wanting out around 6.20 before any afternoon MEG style selloff.

Watching XBI surge and looks to be closing over $52.62 and dove back in. Key resistance IMO, and if that breaks on some good news over night we could be laughing.
Or I could hate myself for not sticking to my more disciplined strategy again

i like to think we have finished 5 waves off the low at 43 and now I am expecting oil to correct.
38%-61% or the previous wave iii/iv range is usually the best area for support and or bottom.
a bullish tone imo would be to simply just break below wave x and begin another 5 waves higher which would mean we have some sort of wave extension some where in this chart. Given we are in a rising channel, I want to believe oil isnt going parabolic without any type of correction.
if oil does correct, will see where Meg lands and I will be tempted to buy back then

Maybe it's moving in that direction but their financials for the last 4 quarters have only shown only slight improvements with a 15% decline in revenues from Q4 2015 to Q1 2016.

ASCO abstracts out tomorrow after close. Sideways action today fighting off the bears trying to regain control.
Basically unless it falls off a cliff tomorrow, or ASCO disappoints, I'm holding this through the rest of the week.
Small surge at the bell today with good volume to get out of the declining channel:

Sold about 1/3 of my position at 27.5 when it started to drop after 10am peak. Holding the rest for the week.
Will keep an eye on it to increase my position if there's a good entry point.

Well done. I balked at dumping a bunch in the low $27s to look for lower reentry, but was concerned about getting left on the sidelines for tomorrow if it rocketed up for some reason.
On another day it was a pretty good opportunity to dump and re-enter $1 lower.

oil inventory out in about an hour, will be interesting to see how that affects price considering oil is holding near the top of the channel and Meg is steady as well. next oil target is going to be 50-51.39

so will oil be topping out today and correcting back towards 46-47 or would it have enough to breakout into a yet larger rising channel with the channel top at 50

SUNW is a great buy at $1.85. Easy to make 30% on this one.

unexpected increase in storage on oil report, otherwise we would have seen 50 oil this morning.
will see if US dollar will gain strength or not that can either resume oil's uptrend or force a correction.
Meg however I think wave iv correction has started, the question is, will this be a mild correction or will we see 6-6.2x price? price should not break 6.00 which is previous wave I, so if Meg can come back down to low 6 that would be a good entry. Otherwise if Meg breaks 7.00, the next support zone to buy back might be around 6.50-6.60

How'd you find this?
Like the setup to fill that gap, so in at $1.87 with some play money.

Maybe its a runaway gap and not an exhaustion gap.
Ill keep an eye on this, I prefer to not just buy when RSI is OS... Sometimes its worth it to wait for confirmation it has reversed its trend a bit

looks like oil wants to go after 50, picking up a small position in Meg to see if it wants to go high first before going low
those wanting to hit 7.00 may get their wish this week :)

I rode that shit from $1.30 up to $2.00 and then all the way down to $0.50.
At least I got out before it dived to $0.20 (shortly after reports surfaced Einhorn was getting out as well).

all bets on board. the fed minute and direction of the rate hike will move the gold market.

for those holding Meg, if and when oil can hit 50.00 this week, then Meg should have a clear shot at hitting 7.00 if not slightly higher, so far wave counts looks quite clear that we are in a wave iv correction with one more wave higher.
key is to break the down trend line to confirm the wave iv low at 6.51 is in

Any predictions? Sitting on a small gain in HGD... very small gain.

More oil sands camps burning up north. Too late to jump on that investment bandwagon, or still some upside?

I personally have two positions in HGD with one stop below today's low and one stop on yesterday's low. The fed notes could easily spike gold and take out both my position but it can also be gold negative if they hint rate hike in June.
I am taking a bearish bet on gold simply I want to see it drop 60-100 dollars so that I can scale back into this sector. There are wave counts suggesting both direction so we will see soon

Same, have a small short position on NUGT, up 5% today but only 2% overall.

Had it on my watchlist for the day, spiked back up to $2.10 before coming back to $1.95 in the last 30 mins - definitely a mover.
