is this the bounce for oil I am expecting? it was so oversold and sentiment was so bearish, it had to rally regardless of direction.
bte has recovered 8% off the low. very nice. would have double up my position if it had dropped another 3.5% but that is ok. if oil rallies from here, I sit tight with my small holding and do nothing. if this is a fake bounce with one more lower low to come then I buy at the right price.
jnug has moved nearly 50% up within 5 days. talk about strength
gdxj is very close in making a new 52 week while gold still hasnt. looks like it is going to be a good weekend ;)

bte after taking out above 6.21 today, potentially has produced a swing low on the daily chart.
this means the low 'may' be in. now it is up to oil to do it's part. it's the first sign that a bottom may be in for this stock

My entire portfolio is already higher than when gold was at 1375 a few weeks ago, trying not to get too greedy.

Did you get in?
I'm sitting up 30% on the day.
One day I'll get stupid and throw real money at one of these insane selloffs. That will be the day it's actually a company going under.
Grabbed some UWTI at $17.54. Hoping it turns here and makes a massive inverse head and shoulders.
Added to my MEG at $5.28, averaged down to $5.69.
Sold my JNUG at $296 and moved most of it into YRI given they lagged the action today.
As the US dollar gets weaker I'm going to try hold more Canadian instruments.
Still holding LABD which hasn't hit my stop yet, but is down a couple bucks. XBI looks like it should be making it's mind up on Monday, right at the top of the channel:

I will out of town next week, not going to post much.
the only chart I wanted to post is the energy sector represented by XLE here.
while oil has not formed a daily swing low just yet. Energy shares had rebounded nicely on friday and confirmed a very bullish engulfing candle and swing low. RSI is also nicely coming out of oversold.
which means. While oil can still make a lower low. Energy stocks/shares may only retrace. Energy stocks have basically traded side ways or you can say corrected side ways for over 2months. Once oil breaks out (above 46) energy stocks will breakout. The target area would at least imo equal to the rise off the bottom. resulting in many stocks at least doubling from their current areas.

90 strike sep 16 expiry
From what I can tell on the chart (the stock is trading in an extremely well defined triangle) it should have room to go up to about 96ish before it hits the upper trendline and is OB at the same time.
Will likely sell then - looks like it may hit that sometime this week

It would be cool for the novelty factor. As a short term investment it's impractical. If you're going to keep it for 5, 10, 25 years, why not.

I did. Unfortunately not my first buy. I bought at the top of the previous price channel as well, but cut my losses on that position.
I think I'm early again. There is no resistance at all to XBI until $64.87 on the weekly.
It's also poking out of the top BB on the weekly. I'm setting a stop at today's low for LABD.

Completely agree. It just "feels" late to be jumping back on LABU, but there is so little in the way of resistance.
I really want a pull back to jump back in LABU, but I'm not going to make a pullback with bad bets on LABD.

I dont think LABD is a bad play... but i wouldnt expect it to double like the last few times. I think there will be a correction and then labu will continue its way up. Like someone said earlier there is not much resistance technically for XBI until 70's

Looking through the LABD lens, the LABU exit is so much clearer.
Still learning with every trade.

My first two trades of this year; put a big chunk of my portfolio in BRZU and BTE right at the very bottom:
BRZU - bought at ~$20, sold after 10% gain
BTE - bought at $1.85, sold after 30% gain
BRZU is now at $144 and BTE is now at $6 (did go as high as $8.50 in early June). Man probably 200+ trades since then and if I had done nothing since those two purchases I would be laughing.

alright back in Calgary. lets start with gdx (miners) current EW count shows we have 5 sub waves up and as a result, it is now moving in wave 2 correction targeting the 29-30 area. The current expectation is that the bullish count is pointing the mining sector on the cusp of a wave 3 of 3 breakout that if occurs projects as high as 39-40.
however the key support is if it dives under 29, it would invalidate this setup and immediately a larger degree correction would be the more probable outcome.
personally I am still heavily invested in this sector. (added back a small position in Jnug last week at 272)
if gdx breaks 29, I will most likely exit all my leveraged position.

there is positive divergence this morning. It is possible gold has bottom, if not, we may get one more swing lower and with the extreme oversold and bearish sentiment from last week gold is due for a bounce.

as for oil, we are very close to a intermediate bottom (ICL) the swing low off 39 was a good sign and it has came out of oversold. the market sentiment on oil is very bearish right now which is what it needs to get trader to the wrong side of the trade.
while the ultimate confirmation is to see oil recapture above 46. I am already trading as if oil has bottomed last week. (added a position in bte 4.25 US)
cant rule out oil making an undercut low due to stock market near a temporary high and would move into a correction (shortly after Nasdaq making a marginal breakout)
so there is a good chance both oil and stock market could continue to be under pressure. My main focus remains with gold and the mining complex and will add to energy if opportunity presents itself.

looking at the latest Hui history comparison. it would appear miners have limited upside if it is to be following the last two bull market.
I have decided to scale back completely in this sector considering over a month ago I was expected a top around the 2nd week of August. we are quite close.
While anything can happen and all we know gold could suddenly push a breakout but I wanted to anticipated any surprises to the downside (correction) of a significant manner.
so I have exited 75% of my Jnug position and 65% of my two core miners. I am taking my big profit now and locking in. Keeping the rest if gold makes a huge push, otherwise I will re-establish my position if miners head further down.
I may begin to add to my oil position now that it's ICL is probably completed.

I bought in quite a few pages ago on this thread when someone made the recommendation, so I am happy to break even on this dog.
I have been invested in NLN.TO for a while, wish I had played it a little more, could have made some good returns as it swings up and down.

oil looks like it wants to head higher today.
looking at BTE (US) it appears it is breaking out of a multi month down trending line. very good first sign that bottom may be in.
I have two position in BTE, one is about break even, the other is up 20%. if it opens 5% up today I think I will take profit and wait for a rebuy lower.
While I have scaled back significantly on gold, I may increase my position if gdx does drop into the 29-30 area. However if gdx breaks below 29, that will be a concern and I will most likely exit my new entry and wait on the side line to re assess the counts.

negative divergence on oil. looking for a drop back to the 42s or anything under will rebuy bte at a lower entry.
inverted head and shoulder should point to a retest of 46 oil.

Are you getting your exposure through options?
Sold a small bit of UWTI in early trading when it hit 21, for a 12% gain.

Yeah, options... Makes the most sense for me since I tend to not hold things too long
