1174 is the 61.8 retrace of the move from a year ago from 1052 to 1370.
Might have to throw a few more chips down if that level is touched.

He only really deals with oncology so he might not be able to advise on the CEMP position but I'll pick his brain, looks like an interesting play..

it appears gold has completed 5 waves down the 1171 area which is the 61% correction from the 1046-1375 rally.
so far the bounce off the low is very encouraging giving us a clear mini 5 waves up. now key is to watch for a 3 wave correction either have ended near 1184 or one possible drop below 1184 but no longer than 1179 to begin a new up cycle.
a bottom at 1171 for gold is the best black friday deal the market can give us. also last year it was a similar situation as well as gold struct a bottom in a similar pattern.

still holding my green MMJ stocks... didn't cash out and rebuy during all the volatility so kicking myself for that. Looks like we are in for some sideways consolidation but I am optimistic that the next breakout could be another big one. What's everyone else doing in that space? Holding SL, APH, ACB, and OGI right now.

letting go my my small energy play, oil broke 46.50 so I will anticipate the possibility that oil wants to test below 40.
for natgas the recent big drop to the 2.55 area and now rallied strongly back up was too short. this bounce could be a wave B with still one more leg down under 2.55, but be careful because if natgas moves any higher, potentially it could also signal that it is now in a major wave 3 breakout move to much higher prices as well..
gold indeed had dived under 1284 and is currently testing the 61% fib level near 1179. as long as we do not close below this, I will continue to expect the next short term move to the upside (back to 1202-1207)

Debating on buying some OGI stock next week, we'll see how EMC goes monday first. CGC if it dips below 10$.

there is an invert head and shoulder pattern that at a rate of 60% probability as always with these pattern would target gold to move back to the 1210 area, at least retesting the 1202 which is now resistance.

This has been discussed many times. Essentially the ETFs are leveraged by using borrowed money to invest. They have to rebalance daily, and the cost of capital/rebalancing causes the ETF share value to deteriorate. (I know this isn't 100% accurate, but it's close. someone can feel free to correct me). These ETFs only represent daily movement accurately, the longer term you look at it, the more skewed it becomes. Look at a 3 year chart of any leveraged ETF and compare it to the same period of a commodity and you'll see what I mean (UWTI or DWTI vs WTI).
Fictional example: Day 1, gold price is 1200, and JNUG is 10.00. [Gold goes up and down for a month]. Day 30 gold price back to 1200, but JNUG will only be 6.00.

More accurately:
To understand what is beta-slippage, imagine a very volatile asset that goes up 25% one day and down 20% the day after. A perfect double leveraged ETF goes up 50% the first day and down 40% the second day. On the close of the second day, the underlying asset is back to its initial price:
(1 + 0.25) x (1 - 0.2) = 1
And the perfect leveraged ETF?
(1 + 0.5) x (1 - 0.4) = 0.9
Nothing has changed for the underlying asset, and 10% of your money has disappeared.

Yea thats my point exactly. Futures markets are open all day monday - friday
I mean i dont trade futures, may trade a bit of currency coming up here, and Iv traded lots of ETFs, but everyone here LOVES JNUG, and wakes up to massive gains or losses and when you are day trading as many are, why take yourself out of the game for 2/3 of it?
At least in futures you can set a stop loss that wont get blown past after market.

5min negative divergence, cant help but think if gold needs to head back down to test 1179 one more time.
going to try my luck to see if this is a fake breakout. selling my Jnug position to see if I can buy lower again.
if not, I have plenty of other position to ride this wave. if miners is as bullish then it has a good shot at reaching 23-24 for gdx and 37-38 for gdxj

quick chart post on gdxj
as you can see it was indeed a false breakout, with gdxj out performing gdx, and gold down a few dollars gpl and ag are actually in the green. it feels like there is more buying pressure. and so it is hard to believe miners would make a move down now. if anything I am still anticipating a back test of 1202 resistance which will fuel miners (gdxj) back in to the 37 area.
perhaps the final leg down to a lower low could occur on the december fed rate hike. (just like 2015) then gold will resume another 5-6 months upswing. seems the pattern is to hold this sector for 1st half of the year, and unwind in the bottom half.
a bullish count (if the bottom is sealed back on November 14) then gdxj will break above the 200DMA and previous wave (i) to invalidate the possible lower low count at 38.79
this is why I will hold my core holdings. just in case the next multi month bull market resumes.

for those waiting on biotech.
I was waiting for a wave 2 pull back. however biotech already bounced off the 38%, so an extremely bullish scenario, the wave 2 pull back may have been finished. if so, then watch for the next time it breaks the down trendline. the next move will be even a more powerful one.
I was hoping to see it fill some gap and perhaps get back down to the 50 or even the 61% retracement level.
one could open a position here and buy further upon each drop.
also noticed how there are many sectors or chart showing a powerful wave 3 ahead of it? that is because we are about to move into a very inflationary phase. the recent collapse of the bond market will no doubt drive alot of liquidity into all other assets.
a secular or generational market crash will not occur until we hit a parabolic bubble phase.

Got out of LABD today. Take my gains while they are there. Last time this burned me as bio dropped like a rock the day after my sale, but with some big news events tomorrow, I prefer the sidelines.
Dumped my leveraged miners and oil too. Not big gains on anything, but the trend has no clear direction right now, so I'll take profits and wait.
Still holding ROG.V (Roxgold) which had some good geo results for a nice pop and GPR.
Question for everyone, I'd been using HGU/HGD and HOU/HOD lately, but hate the fact I can only set stop limit orders, but the limit price is equal to the stop price (Virtual Brokers).
They told me this is an exchange thing.
For example, if I buy a US security, like UWTI, and it gaps down below my stop in the morning, it will sell on open for market price.
If I have a stop on HOU, and it gaps below the stop, which is a limit stop, it won't fill as the limit price isn't met.
Bag holding ensues.
With non-shitty brokers are you guys in the same situation?

i was hoping Opec to turn oil price down because I think oil is headed to 70 dollars regardless of what Opec does. I guess they have just turned the market around?
dont rule out the buy on rumor and sell on news.
as for miners, another false breakout. after a slight bounce this morning, I am setting my stops below today's low.
update. gold testing the previous low at 1170. will it be a double bottom? or 1150-1160 on the horizon?
I thought I placed a stop limit on my Jnug, turns out I actually just sold at 6.75, talk about a mistake not against you.
well I am going to take a shot in the dark and place a bet we have a double bottom in gold, buying back my jnug at 6.50s.

technically gold achieved a new low today. while so far it appears the double bottom at 1170 is holding. but the new low also suggest gold's final wave 5 of C of II has started.
no telling actually where she will land until it bounces strongly out of it.
so far I have seen projection between 1078-1138.
I believe we are at the stage where any drop from here is a screaming buy imo. so I will only be adding more position as she drives lower.
the sentiment and hate for this sector is at an extreme. so we are not far.
perhaps we do have to wait until the rate hike in 2 weeks before gold has any momentum that is sustainable. buy on rumor and sell on news is currently pushing dollar up and driving gold further down.
I fully expect a repeat of 2015 Dec once the rate hike comes and goes.

Got entirely out of gold and oil right at the opening bell. Happy about the sell on all fronts, except my POU sell. It was still well in the green (avg cost of 14.21) but would have been beneficial to hang on a little longer, but I was scared. often after POU gaps up, it fills the gap later in the day.

Are you shorting POU, or were you in it for the long haul? It looks like they are one of the rare oil companies that have consistently been rising over the last year and looks like an excellent long opportunity.
Companies like BTE and BNE (which I am in for long) have been pretty stagnant over that time, but I certainly did well so far today.

pre-OPEC announcement, KMI went down only by 2-3% but yeah, I was hoping the Trans Mountain pipeline announcement will boost the stocks a little bit more. perhaps the Americas don't care much about it?

From Questrade's FAQ:

That explains the scenario.

Anyone taking a shot at gold bull miners today? $6.20 seems tempting on JNUG.

Have 10g invested in BTE and BNE. Made 18% over the last two days. Still holding due to the price of oil still going up, though both are trickling downwards after an initial 9% rise this morning.
Debating just selling them off - though these stocks were intended as a long play anyway. Not sure what December 9th will hold for oil; makes me a little nervous.

I have 800 share s of meg at 5.50. I hadn't checked stocks until about an hour ago, happy with that.
Sold my MEG shares @ 8.08, going to sit on the sidelines till next week.

Effective Dec 9, 2016 two leveraged oil ETFs, UWTI and DWTI, will no longer trade on any national securities exchange in the U.S. Orders to purchase these securities are currently being accepted but this is subject to change at any time. Please use caution when placing buy orders for UWTI and DWTI.
Govern yourselves accordingly.

So what happens if you're still holding stocks in those ETF's on Dec 9? Are you forced to sell?

That's crazy, wonder what the reasoning is behind that? Force speculators to invest in actual companies?

What made you buy mt? Didn't look like that enticing of a stock prior to the spike.

pretty sure you just won't be able to sell through this period. Probably trying to reduce dramatic ups/downs like the marijuana stocks

They decided on this a couple weeks ago... it's not a freeze, they are delisting them indefinitely

well tomorrows payroll would be interesting.
one note though, gold has been in some seriously extreme oversold condition not seen for decades. which means we are in un charted Territory. is this a sign that gold has crashed and no bounce in sight?
maybe, but could it be that we will now witness one of the greatest rises in this secular gold bull market? especially once the rate hike comes and goes. a good possibility
i have read that gdx and gdxj has been on a BoW (buy on weakness) list 3 days in a row.
notice how miners are recovering very well almost daily. the fact that gold continues to make new low yet miner still has not even broken the low on Nov 14 has been wondering...this is a very bullish development imo
i am fully invested in this sector so time to just sit back and do nothing but watch

You want some crazy valuation??? check out ICC... $100MM valuation for a company that will have to sell @ $1/gm, has cost of production at 0.60/gm, would need their customers to get fingerprinted by the government, and btw, those same customers can grow their own in a place with a super moderate climate...

only MJ stock i have is APH and GLH, APH is long term as to me it was the company that made more sense.
GLH was just for fun and even if I lose, didnt put much on it.
Sold ACB and EMH, might possibly pick up OGI too for long term and maybe CGC but I find the later too volatile for my taste, good for day traders but not for me

CGC will probably fall after the acquisition but then it'll climb back up. definitely wait until then if you're looking to pick up some short term.

CEMP broke out for a 16% day. Considering that almost half my portfolio is CEMP that made for a pretty good day
Still tons of room to run up. I have to do some serious thinking about my exit strategy as the PDUFA date is approaching.
I'm willing to leave part of my position long for months/years waiting for a buyout, but obviously the longer I hold that much, the more risk I'm exposed to.
Any advice is welcome :D
My current thinking being that antibiotic resistance is becoming one of the critical medical issues of our time, I just can't see any way this doesn't get approved as it has proven efficacy.
