just curious, normally what is your exiting strategy?
normally during entries I would buy multiple positions on the way down and as it rises I will sell them individually on the way up.
in short, it is near impossible to time perfect entries and exit, so the best way is to scale them up in both directions. Otherwise you end up regretting exiting too soon as price continues to head north and vice versa when your buying with both feet

Typically i pull off my cost and let free shares ride. Ive done that for resolute even though i think they either get bought out higher or hit north of 60 later this year.
For lilis im close to doing same thing but they just released a new presentation that looks great (assuming they can execute)

Picked up some larger positions in Tourmaline and Painted Pony this week.
There is a bit of chatter that TOU may be a potential M&A target.. Wonder who in the hell who be into buying them...

TOU as a company has a ton of crap from acq over the years. Poorly run in the field. Big IP wells are masking tons of issues.

Meh, it was small so it didn't matter to me much. I learned to manage risk well now haha. Also I would play JDST with the other free capital I have. Right now my entire portfolio in TFSA is free so I'm quite flexible. I will add another position in JNUG in the mid to low 7s and still have lot of ammo just in case. I enjoy the volatility in leverage plays and it has done quite well for me since I learned to watch DXY, SPY, USD/JPY, gold, and of course GDX/GDXJ.
One could honestly daytrade JNUG and JDST and make a living out of that IMO. My plays are more volume based and often times I find myself scalping for 5-10 cents and as soon as I make a few hundred to 1k USD, I stop. Sometimes I need to hold more than a day or two because the price action was too close to my entry and I didn't want to accidentally trigger the stop. But for me to do that I would need to feel quite bullish on it. Otherwise I let it go.
I figure I make way more money having small wins daily than trying to catch the big fish. Sometimes it will come, but I don't try to bank on it.

gold breaking out from a sharp wedge, perhaps it may mark a temporary bottom. will now see if gold is simply trying to just form a more regular downchannel.
gold did bounce off it's 38% fib level and so we can clearly see some buying in this area

Really surprised at how much small and mid cap oil players have dipped in last few weeks. Close to Feb/Mar lows of last year when we were looking at $30 WTI. Must be anticipation of an oil supply bump.

It was really just Trump Border Tax that spooked the market actually.
I'd say it's an opportunity once he provides clarity that isn't the intention

so far fcx successfully backtest the neckline breakout and remained above the 50DMA. considering a legit breakout on volume. as long as price does not close below the recent low and 50DMA, am continuing to expect fcx marching towards 20-24 in the coming weeks

what was thought to be a breakout on the triangle has morphed into a larger one for GPL.
the only question is, will this be a 3 pt consolidation or 5 pt. I think it is waiting for gold to bottom and if it already has, gpl should breakout for good otherwise it will continue to consolidate further

I really wanted to grab a position under 7.8 Jnug. hopefully it can still happen next week. but I fear, if this is all the correction gold puts in, the next move could be pretty big.
the next time gold breaks above 1220, it could be a straight shot towards 1300

I am trading small with it but extremely high leverage. I'd like to aim for 1277 to start taking profit.
if you havent already noticed by now, i have about 70% invested in gold and silver shares. i only play 5% leverage positions but have none at the moment.
i am still waiting patiently for miners to correct one more wave lower. to begin scaling in on Jnug.
but if this doesnt come, then i just let what ever i have run.
as for the 38% holding, yes it is holding. and i can see a scenario where that is as low as she goes. while the last two times (didnt look back that far) gold tends to find weakness when the Chinese are on national holiday.
does it mean it will be guaranteed to reoccur? you probably dont want to bang on it being a sure thing. it just another thing i pay attention and give me reason to wait for a better entry price.
also may i ask why 1277 being your target? imo, the next time gold takes out 1220, i think it could be a moon shot towards 1300, and the entire sentiment and landscape could change dramatically that everyone will begin to chase gold again.

quick update on oil. ever since oil rallied off near 42, we have 5 waves up. if this is the cycle where oil will make a move towards 60-70, then i would like to see the correction ending slightly under 50.00
it is also possible oil may have ended it's correction around 50.50 and if oil does not begin to make new highs next week. then there is higher probability that the correction hasnt finish and i would expect a retest of 50 oil or even slightly lower.
key now is oil at 47.00 is where i would draw the line in the sand. if oil breaks below this price, then we may have a bigger problem where oil wants to test or break below 44, that would trigger a lot of stops.
so long we are above 46.75, the next big move should be up

Hmm, interesting stuff. One could simply just trade at 5-10x leverage if they wanted to for XAU/USD or USD/JPY and it would be better in the sense that you can trade at almost anytime in the day.
Going to look more into this.
Wonder if the big Canadian banks (TD, RBC, Scotia, etc.) have the option of a foreign exchange TFSA account?

with Trump's recent action, I think market will become more volatile going forward which I think benefits gold.
taking my labu trade off the table in case the stock market rolls over.
as i mention last week oil needs to make a move this week instead its selling off and looking like it wants to test 50 or even under.
going to exit my energy trades and wait on the side line
also adding a 3rd position in fcx with stops below last week's low

Most big banks will allow you to keep USD in RRSP and TFSAs.
Energy pull back is pretty overdone but it seem there's a good chance it's not over and we'll see oil below 50 at some point. I prefer buy and hold for the most part but it seems energy is not a sector that suits that strategy well. Commodities trading is mostly or all speculative depending on who you ask. We're looking at the same valuations when oil was around 30 bucks when WTI is still above 50. Glad I sold out of most of my energy a few weeks ago out of dumb luck. Would have given back most of the gains from last year. :nut:

quick update on gold. Nothing significant has changed. since gold produced a top at 1220, gold has been in correction mode.
how ever, it has fulfilled the minimum correction by testing the 38% level around 1182. and if gold takes out 1200, it could be the beginning of a powerful wave 3 move.
personally miners did not get to my buy zone. and there is still a chance this could still happen.
if the recent rise in gold is still only a counter trend. then this could mark a wave B top (alt count shown in red) follow by one more sell off towards the 50% and 61% area which is between 1160-1170.
I will only to add if I see lower gold prices. we are at a bull/bear convergence and price could go either way.

I think it's not that we are bad in particular, I believe it's that we have run out of easy opportunities as the space has gotten far too competitive. We don't have monopolies anymore per se and we don't have easy entries into new markets like we used to where we could do anything and make bank.

I'm pretty sure they will table the legislation in the HoC on 4/20. Probably looking at early 2018 as the earliest for recreational. ACB just had a private placement of shares @2.25 that dropped the stock down from the $2.70 range. I was planning on taking some profit the day before but my sell price target missed by $0.04
Just added to my position @ $2.28 and will start unwinding my position once the stock moves back in to the $2.50 range and will continue taking profits on the way up hopefully. I think my average cost on all of my ACB position is around $1.75 so i'm hoping it can get back up around $3 over the next two months.
oh if I could just go back in time when I started buying these shares at $0.90 and just HELOC that shit i'd be mortgage free this summer...

Any indication on how and why this chart is moving like this? Looking back 30 day chart it had a "Cup & Handle" movement throughout January and had a break out yesterday and today.
If anyone has a pretty good explanation of how and why this breakout happened, i can further study this Stock and see if I can apply it to some other stocks ive been watching

miners still looks to be underperforming relative to gold's recent strength. the breakout is begining to look like ahead fake. and the wave B bounce follow by wave C to a lower low remains on the table.
i probably wont chase here unless gold can produce a weekly close above 1221 until then my personal preference is still would like to see miners sell off into a good entry point.

This sounds like a "Mar: Help me become a Day trader" thread.
It is hype.
My advice, start with not trading highly volitile stock.
74% gains in a day = you're gonna have a bad time.

i don't understand freshii.....their stuff is overpriced and yet people still line up for them at lunch. i don't even find their food that good (tried the noodle bowl there once. never again. they used the linguine shaped rice noodles and they were refrigerated for a while so the texture was crumbly)

sure some of them might be hipsters. but i walk by the one in eighth ave place and it's just a whole lot of people lining up during lunches. there's supposed to be an olly fresco's opening up across the street in watermark though so i think when that is up and running it'll take a fair chunk of business from freshii and eighth ave trattoria

Agreed. I rather miss some of the profits on the ride up and be more certain.

Hey man, If i can gain 74% in a day ill take it, is there a reason you say earning money is a bad thing? Just a guy who is a daily beyond lurker, wouldn't hurt to gain a bit more knowledge since im in the perfect age to soak everything in. :dunno:

74% on day, means that you might get -100% the next... if that's what you want to do, open a practice forex account and see how you do trading gold or oil at 50-100x leverage

Yeah opened a practice account on Investopedia, been doing quite well actually.
Of course it sucks its not my money or real money at all.
Yeah I understand the risk towards high volatile stocks, thats why i was wondering what the heck was happening to PULM to surge $3 per share before it eventually went back down to +1.70-1.80 for the day.
Thanks man :D

You're into big gains. Go for NAKD. 137% and Up almost 10% more in after hours trading.
Momentum is your friend. Just don't get caught holding the potato at the end.
Many people spend entire lives doing stock analysis and teaching it.
Good to learn but like I said, maybe go for something less volatile to start.

jobs numbers
US created 227k jobs vs 175k expected.
after initial dollar strength and gold weakness, now it has reversed.
does this prove news matter little to the over all trend that gold is in up mode, the drop this morning was an opportunity to buy? we shall see
unemployment rate did rise from 4.7% to 4.8% that is going to delay any rate hike in the short term... great for gold here

natgas indeed is bearish, looking at around 2.7-2.8 I may pick up a position for short term play. I know it was pretty easy to look back after the fact, but last time I was expecting a counter bounce to 3.5 before resuming its recent decline. it got to 3.49 and never looked back since. Boy I ought to start following my own calls some times

well COO did manage to dive under 14, so I picked 1 starting position at 13.90
met its minimum correctional move and tested the 38% level. may open one more if it goes after the 50% level

i hope it does, waiting for a weekly closing on or above 1221 would be another big technical confirmation and open up the 1240 very quickly

Just paper trading today, as I don't really like Friday and just sold my big DGAZ position this morning for good profits.
My JDST play would have worked out great as $10 on JNUG is a huge resistance. If anyone entered in the $16.15-16.23 range, great job for scalping.

So I started playing with my forex account again... started the week with a $10k usd demo account, decided to diversify between gold/oil/eurusd... which was dumb, mostly the eur/usd pair... I hate that pair, never works out
So overall I lost over $6k (only $1500 from gold cause I either forgot to adjust the stop loss, or my changes didn't stick)
And I just closed out everything for the week... with an overall portfolio of $17k!
Think I'm going to continue using it just for gold, keeping it at 100x or 50x leverage for a few more weeks. Then contemplate actually funding the thing with real money again

Came back from lunch, and watched the price action a bit. Put a JDST position in right before close at a few cents away from the low of the day.
Going against the trend here. Let's see what happens Sunday evening/Monday morning. Have a good weekend all.

had a sell order on cgc (weed) this morning. didn't think it'd hit it, but in the last half hour it smashed through 10.3s and it executed. cgc/weed closed at 10.5s. guess i'll just sit on the sidelines and keep an eye out if it experiences a pullback. can't complain since i ended up with about a 15% gain over a month and a half
