Went apeshit, 5 day average crossed over the 20day. Went better than I expected today too. I sold it at 11.92 (bought at 10.10) and now it's slowly going down a bit.
I think now it's a gamble, but it might go up still. Too risky for my blood though.

Hudson's Bay Co (HBC.TO) shares rose more than eight per cent on Tuesday after the Canadian department store operator revealed additional financial details about its business on capital structure, debt and real estate. Shares increased 8.5 per cent to $11.95 around midday in Toronto.According to a new investor presentation posted on its website, Hudson's Bay said it has a stable capital structure that included non-recourse mortgage debt, a floating rate term loan balance of US$500 million, and flexible access to capital.
Once its retail business recovers a bit they'll spin out a REIT IPO. Its stock will easily be worth double what its at now.
Yes the long term outlook for them could be very lucrative. The problem I see is if they do things right they could turn into a 30 dollar stock and if they do things wrong they are sears 2.0 with a 2 dollar stock.
I sold cuz I'm looking at short term stuff right now and was a little scared how much it went up today. If it drops tomorrow morning I may jump back in, cuz realistically to me it should be worth 12plus right now. Buying at 10.1 was a no brainer, holding at 12 isn't probably going to see much in the way of gains anytime soon imo, but I'm just an amateur investor.

fruuck.
my stop loss triggered on APH, and ACB today. Got out of APH at 8.25 but my ACB stop loss triggered and didn't fill. Had to manually adjust my sell order and by time I got out was 3.05. My stop on SL triggered and filled at 1.66.
Ended up closing out all of my weed stocks for a nice ~$5k profit on ~$10k investment. Not too shabby! Will look for another entry point here in the next few days depending on the swings.

fcx looks like wave c of 2 is starting still hunting for that wave 2 bottom near or below 13
bte wave 3 does look promising, but keep in mind oil may be due for a wave 2 pull back and so energy shares may just be a wave B bounce with lower prices ahead. I may add another position if bte drops back down to the low 3s
nak thanks to some good PR wave 3 appears to be underway as well

gold
I had my suspicion on my last gold chart that it has momentum to hit the 1290 area. amazingly we are now at this critical resistance zone. this down trendline has held gold back in every instance in 2016 and so one would logically conclude breaking this on first pass especially with RSI being extreme overbought is highly unlikely. we may even witness a possible false breakout?
a reason I was leaning towards weakness in this sectors for the coming weeks and at worse 2+ months.
The only question is, how will gold consolidate? EW wise it can actually move into any of the color zone here.
I can see the continuation of this triangle consolidation thru summer (once the current stock market correction ends, I expect new highs) the possible worse case low swing could come in the 1160-1180 area. I have scaled down my position in anticipation of this .
the performance of the miners has been extremely lack luster and is confirming this as a warning sign. then again, if gold breaks out above 1300, all short term correlation could be off the table and the mad chase may begin. after all, isnt this what the market is about? fooling everyone? just as everyone has giving up this sector or is waiting for 'the pull back' it just accelerates and the triggering of short covering would be alone enough to drive price higher
a more realistic expectation is price still going no where with price retest the 1220-1250 area.
personally I wont be doing anything. I will only buy if gold comes down to the low end of the box #1 and #2.
I still have enough holding in this sector to get excited shall gold price defy everyone's expectation including myself and decided it is time to breakout aggressively now rather than during the typical seasonal summer low. (the latest geo-political landscape and tension is certainly adding to the cause) hence the correction in oil may also be shallow

my current gdx count with the assumption that gold will move into the same orange and red box from the chart I posted.
this is a clear trendline breakout when gdx pushed above 23.60 and so we either get a back test of this line some where down the road or a worse case a retest or undercut test of the alt A low. either scenario I do not believe we will break the low of 2016

fcx has dropped below 13 and hit the expected wave 2 count requirement. cant rule out a smaller wave for a lower low towards 12.60 but RSI is starting to come out of oversold. confirmation now lies at price closing above 13.30 follow by 13.65 to confirm wave (ii) completion

Ever since BAT talk it's been so soft, even on big oil up days it's super soft. On flat days it sells off and on down days it sells off harder.

BTE is killing me. I should have just played oil with UWT the entire time.
Manhattan
04-13-2017, 11:03 AM
Mostly just fear. There's a very small chance that BAT will include Cdn heavy oil imports - US refineries are geared to process Cdn oil and it would make gasoline for US consumers a lot more expensive which no president wants to do. Major oil players like Shell and CP are also leaving Canada so it's not a popular trade in the US. Just the whims of the market.

Just seems off to me considering everything is hypothetical. I guess, the market is the market lol.
Hopefully some clarity on the BAT comes into play soon enough so the market can rest at ease.
I kind of figured that was the ase and 3 things can move this higher
1. OPEC Renewal
2. BAT Clarity
3. Really good draw season to break crude $55

Chevron wants out of the oil sands now too. US investment has pretty much all left. I'm beginning to think Cdn oil won't attract much capital even at $60-80 oil because we're seen as a tough operating environment (operationally and govt).

The stock will no longer be pegged to the junior gold miners and will trade solely on the sentiment of traders. It could tank or rocket. Don't hold it for too long and remember there is a reverse 1-4 split in two weeks. Usually, reverse splits are not a good sign. It will be interesting to watch for sure.
I definitely did miss that news.
The sentiment of traders in relation to what? The weather?
What a bizarre little fund... time to trade something else until it all clears up I guess
A company that has fallen that much is way too risky for my blood.
I'm going into oil and gas more now. Cenovus sprung back a bit today so I'm already happy with that decision last week.
I just bought ppy.to. That's another gamble like cenovus, same type of very unpopular buyout tanked its stock price as well, but I think it may pay off later this year. The stock is very cheap for what it is Imo.

PPY is screaming buy under 6 bucks
I thought exactly that myself.
I've been doing a fair bit of reading looking for a reason not to buy them and it's hard to see why their stock is valued so much less then their competition. IMO it basically comes down to people being afraid of the deal they just struck doubling down on NG in montney by doubling their potential output.
Same shit as with Cenovus deal on oil that shareholders hated to double thier output, except the PPY deal seems like they got a better deal.
I'm actually hoping PPY falls a bit more so I can justify buying more, but it sure looks sitting near a bottom.

well what do you know, gold cannot confirm breakout over 1290 and has formed a reversal candle on the daily chart which is generally bearish.
i was not expecting the breakout until the summer weakness is over. then again if gold does manage to close above the high 1295.5, then all bets may be off the table. until then expecting continuous weakness

yes. bought at 14.30.
i may dump and re-enter, but at 14.30 i think it is a good buy if you're going to be looking at it from a year in the future backwards.
There is a very good chance that it will hover around that price or lower and then go up a decent amount, but IMO it's a 6 month+ wait. The problem with CVE is it has 6 months of 3 billion $ in shares getting flooded onto the market.
I have a feeling people are dumping it right now anticipating a bad 1/4ly report next wed? and we may see it rise next week if the report is ok.

fcx
a reminder of the big picture count. one of the better EW charts out there. nothing has changed that once fcx begins to move the 1-2, 1-2 setup would yield a very good return in 2017
still leaning towards the bottom being formed at 11.92 however the latest correction does exceed the typical 61% low under 12.55 which is a concern, so the worse case scenario would be one more lower low under 12 which could be a bear trap
this is one of those stocks I am not afraid to hold this year.

AUY and KGC are holding up very well. both having to breakout from their downtrendline and so far is confirming the breakout with a successful backtest. KGC is even more bullish being a Ro4
I wonder if this is a prelude that something big is coming and this sector would be setup for an immediate uber bullish turn that will throw everyone offside. (gold continues to flirt with the same breakout and hasnt really given shorts much to be excited about. A thrust for gold above 1300 would be a pretty crazy event imo
adding back some miners with stop just in case the french vote cause a huge risk on appetite

gold
so far the French election isnt helping gold much. but due to the resiliency of the metal, technically it isnt damaged just yet.
line in the sand to remain bullish is to see price hold above 1263.87 and especially 1260.70, these two levels are previous wave (i) and wave i tops which needs to hold in order to keep the bullish count intact.
gold is also moving down in what appears to be a widening wedge pattern (which can be bullish as well)
as you can see ever since gold failed to break out and confirm above 1291, price has since struggled and continues to get knocked down. obviously this is the final hurdle for gold and would bring in a rush of buyers if bulls can take this area. obviously the safest bet one can do is wait until price can break above the upper orange channel
the bearish case has long been my view for a couple of weeks and I acted accordingly, though late Friday I have added back some position in case gold takes off due to the election. But I will hold on to those shares as long as gold remains above the two levels above.
if those levels are broken, I will just exit to short term position and continue to wait for 'the drop' there is also some sort of major turn date around June 19th. which could either signal a top in gold (like 2016) or a low. I would imagine a low if gold does become more bearish by taking out the two support levels in the low 1260s.

zooming out
the two scenario
gold still has not crashed and so the longer it holds above 1260+ the more probable the upside scenario unfolds.
if gold does breakout, I may want to take profit and wait for a back test of the multi-year channel line for a BTFD (last chance before take off)
otherwise I am prepare to buy in the low 1200s

for gdx, it looks quite bearish and so the summer weakness may very well in play. while gold is holding up well, it can too (assuming miners are leading gold) then gold could crash below 1260 any moment.

after price broke below 12.55 last week to suggest another 5 waves lower, this 5 waves may have been completed and could very well be a truncated wave 5. With fcx meeting estimates, it has rebounded pretty solidly today in 3 waves up. Now price must gold above 12.61 and make a push for a 5th wave above 13.36 to confirm we have our first 5 waves leg up.
big picture remains in tact, we have a beautiful 1-2, 1-2 setup. not often do you find a chart this clear. if the count pans out we shall see price over 20 this year

How time sensitive are these? You've made some great calls in the past, but if I have time a la ARIA, my $ is pretty tied up for a few weeks.

They both have a fair bit of momentum and promising drugs. I would think that if you get in within 120 days you will be into some good money by 2018.

gold
gold has broken the 1263.87 level and so the expectation of continuous weakness over the course of a couple weeks continues. currently expecting next move down into the 1250s before a more significant bounce occurs I would imagine. medium term, looking for bottom some where to land in the 1194-1220
oil
energy too remains weak and technically damaged ever since it could not follow thru and correction after 5 waves up went below critical support under 49.55, even if oil may be ready for a small bounce, the view is continues lower lows eventually breaking below 47

My permian junior continues to grow. I made good money in the past with resolute energy. Hopefully lilis can do it for 2017/18 for me.

came across this seasonal chart for the past 30 years on gold. coincides well with the expectation for gold to find a bottom around June - Worse case August.
get your dry powder ready for some good opportunity.

HCG today went from trading at 75% of book value to 25%. They're basically priced for a bankruptcy right now.

Theres a well known short seller, Marc Cohedes, who has been making a case against HCG for years. He claims they are basically fraudulent and a Ponzi scheme. Seems like he's right, their basically borrowing to cover losses

I was wondering if he was going to come back and say anything. Sure hope he was just spewing out stuff, or if not, hopefully he wasn't heavily invested. On his post, I took a look and didn't think it looked like a great buying opportunity - but I certainly didn't expect today to occur.
