Reposting gold's big picture count. This has never changed. In the short run, was hoping to see gold back test the 200 moving average in around 1250, this still has not happened, and I wont rule out the possibility still exist on the table. Miners especially gdxj has already hit a lower low and I have since bought back half the shares I sold and lowered my averages under 7 Jnug. I am in position and will hold for a couple of months. Regardless gold remains in an over all bear market or not, gold can still break out of this multi-year consolidation and hit the target blue box as a wave C high. I want to take advantage of this and will decide later if and when we do get there.

GDX

huge gap up on the open, took out the previous triple resistance zone. Looks like wave 3 underway. So long it does not give back to yesterday's level. the Low may be sealed. It needs to continue to follow thru and move away from 21. Failure to hold and diving back under the triple resistance which should now turned into heavy support only means we have yet another new low coming.

Sold and realized most of my mutual fund gains. Should have done it a little bit earlier but oh well. Have been stockpiling cash for the past 6 months for next buying opportunities.

For you guys with S&P500/TSX ETF's, you moving it all back into cash (even with a loss) or keeping it in the market even if we enter into a recession?

Should probably go into the long-term thread but this is where all the posting takes place haha.

if I was still young, definitely buy and hold is the way to go and thats how I will teach my kids. I dont know about others but at my age, I have a plan to maximize my own financial position within 10 years and may consider moving to another country because my wife cant stand the cold in Calgary. Hence This is more of a are you a great life planner vs living in the moment type of person. To each their own I think under the right circumstance both methods can work for you if you know what you are doing.

For sure. What I had meant was since alot of people were selling single stock positions and moving back into cash, I was wondering if they were also taking other profits.

I sold off my other positions but kept my ETF's. Just gonna keep adding to those in intervals and buy more aggressively if the market dips more.

This is what some of the top names in the industry suggest to do. Set aside your monthly investment budget in cash, and then get it in the market when you see a 5% drop. That alone can bring your yearly average return up a few percent.

Those trading weed stocks.

After a pretty nice run up I think this is just a wave B of a very large ABC, with wave C pointing to lower prices ahead. Still expecting the entire sector to either chop or head much lower. e.g. TLRY into the 40-50s, CGC 30-40s. WEED 30-40 etc.

when I posted this back in March, I was expecting a wave C/2 drop and looking at this sectors we are right into the final stages of the decline. TLRY overshot my low side into the 30s. CGC I would say closer to 33. WEED would still like to see it drop into the 40s. Then we should see the next phase of the rally to begin.

NEBV

ever since getting out of the way as it looks like a big drop is imminent, that drop finally came. would like to see it at least get to the 4.3x area before scaling back in a position.

gdx/gdxj

already hit my wave 3 target and now flirting and breaking out from the channel line. if gold/pm keeps pushing could trigger a pretty good short squeeze. Then I'll have to expect this to be an extended wave 3 with wave 4 only to drop back to current levels.

update: selling half my Jnug at 8.495 to lock in profits

For sure. Normally I would DCA throughout but as our bull run looks like it's coming to an end, I've been hoarding more and more cash. Since it's impossible to time the bottom, I'll be buying roughly every 5% drop and scaling accordingly. Big drops means big buys.

Chasing pretty small gains with this play? Natgas is a weird one, the amount of demand being driven up for it should also drive some hype, which in turn drives the price up. But there is just so much damn supply the price just sits on the floor and has very small swings. I'd be interested to play with some Options on gas to try and make some big returns.

Natgas is quite volatile and I doubt I have the skill to pick the precise bottom so I always like to start small. I will scale in further if natgas gives us a new low.

I used to follow it more frequently when you could rely on the usual swings of down in spring, up in fall, trended perfectly with usage rates. Now it's kind of all over the map. I know a guy that lost everything from the fund he managed(5 million) on a short play before spring. Trade commission had to step in and freeze everything. Kind of scared me off of it even though it was a very bold and risky play I would never make. Now I just spot the price on the side bar of BNN.

strong rally off the expect target zone in the 4.3s, however until we see 5 waves up, not out of the woods yet, but so far so good.

Gold/PMs

Expecting gold wave 2 to land some where between 1310-1320. After selling JNUG last week, scaling back in with a position here. Will add more the further she drops.

A good bounce off 1319.x, this entire down move could be viewed a just wave (A) with the potential of a counter rally follow by wave (C) down towards 1310. If this happens I'll buy back my other half in Jnug depending on how low she corrects.

im surprised with Gold's resiliency breaking away from old pattern of fake breakout and fall. This breakout move could be real. above 1350 bullish below 1350 bearish. Line in the sand here. I trade leverage for short term swings, if I missed this breakout move might have to look for the next swing low to get back in. I did however manage to get myself back into strong core position in various miners for the long haul.

GDX / GLD Ratio

important chart as breakout = miners outperforming gold price. While I expect we are in the wave 3 breakout phase. Those waiting for a pull back, the only saving grace is that it will get rejected here right at the channel line as a sub 1 of 3 of 3. A chance we could get a pull back to backtest the low on Jun 10. Then the real 3 of 3 of 3 breakout starts.

With this, I am not going chase leverage. But if opportunity arises, I will surely jump back in

Im only playing with beer money. I have no problem holding this despite it broke the previous low at 2.55. Right now its in no mans land. could head lower still but first sign is to re-close above 2.55 follow by 2.80.

Houston we have lift off.

Gold targeting to the confluence target with this breakout in the coming months to 1500 is very much under way. It would be good to look at silver play as it tends to play catch up. If there is any sort of decent correction/dip I will scale back in some leverage play.
edit: Gold needs to Gap'N Go within the next hour or so, the longer it stays sideways, the higher the chance we could have a short term topping and need a few days to correct. I welcome the latter as I will continue to scale in on good dips.

Reposting this for anyone who wants to look at the big picture. we are half way there. Even if we hit 1500, gold could still be remain in a much larger bear market. Bulls will want to reach the target blue box and bears will want to short that area for the next multiyear cycle heading to new lows to begin. The low risk setup has always been when gold remains trading under 1300 which has now came and gone. If there was another good buying area it will be to see gold back test the breakout line which depending on how to connect the highs, the min is at 1350.

Gold

At this very moment, Gold has officially confirmed large degree breakout. Everyone dip should be an opportunity for the coming weeks perhaps even months. With negative divergence the first daily cycle should be coming to an end as we head towards a DCL (daily cycle low), the most logical place buy zone is a backtest of the 2016 high at around 1370-1375. I will scale into PM if I see this area reached.

2nd buy zone is between 1333-1350 which I actually do not prefer. Some of my other charting buddies do suggest if we get down to this area, then the rally is dead, but I am willing to hang on just because of my obsession with the yellow metal. My own breakout line pegs it around 1346.

3rd zone (red) is trouble which tells me the breakout was another fake one, falling knife begins. Opens up the opportunity to back test the 1260 area or lower.

I feel like Amazon is going to break through the 2000 mark in the next day or so... stock is crazy bullish right now

Such a weird stock that way... when you look at your position, the share count is so low compared to other companies it is almost comical

That's why I don't even really like owning it. Not going to make any good money unless the stock goes to like 3600$. It's definitely more of a long play as Amazon slowly takes over the world.

Kicking my ass that I was about a half hour late getting my order in for Pembina the other day. It was down below 48$, which is a great place to catch it for a quick turnaround. Sure enough the next day it was back up to 49$.

Anyone play the DowJ? Ever since Trump became president it seems to swing like clockwork between 25000 and 27000. Sitting at 26,800 right now, seems ripe for a short position.

If you don't mind me asking, what is your normal stock strategy? Are you hoping for a 5% increase and sell? 10%? Or is it something different entirely?

Oil

For this whole year, the larger ABC count has not changed. I am still expecting a wave C under the Dec 2018 Low. Given it still looks like just a 3 wave to the down side after topping out on wave B up. If you are an intraday trader, then I will watch carefully on 54.13 to the downside or 60.15 to the upside. For oil to remain bullish, 54.13 must hold, otherwise the resumption of the decline continues. if in the off chance it can close above 60.15, then I would say the alt count of a more drawn out 3-3-3 to the upside for wave B will be targeted. Even with this, I am still expecting another major decline in the future, it is more or less drawn out/delayed by all the surrounding tension and news with whats happening in the oil sector lately.

Normal strategy is just doing a ton of upfront research, finding the stocks I like, following them for a good entry and holding for a while. I usually track about 20-30 stocks in an excel spreadsheet I like and input some quarterly financials and update them as releases come out. I'll monitor the trends and invest into the ones I think are moving in the right direction.

I would say that is the basis for about 70% of my portfolio. The rest I would consider high-risk and take a totally different approach for nearly every trade.

Dunno if that helps at all..

NBEV

Ever since it made new lows and I opened 1 position and so far getting a good bounce off of it. Now it is in a critical moment, I would like to count this as wave 2 ending and a big run up is about to begin. If price comes down lower enough and knocks me out at my entry price @ around 4.3x, then I will have to exit and expect further weakness.

NIO, its in a similar patttern imo, except my position in much smaller.

Natgas

With natgas breaking down into a 5th wave, I double down on it last week. Taking my position off the table with a slight profit. I only spot 3 waves up so it is not out of the woods. 2.214 must hold, once I see 5 waves, I will get back in on a correctional wave 2 with greater confidence.

Dialing down it looks like wave 3 up is done (sold yesterday), working on wave 4, be nice to see it hit about 2.24x, could be a good scalp up on wave 5. with stop below 2.214

update: possible wave 4 completed now onto wave 5

usa.to

Nearly 2 months ago I posted one my core miners usa.to, it looked like it was consolidating in a 1-2, 1-2 count ready for an upside breakout. We finally got that breakout. If there is any leg to this rally, we should never see price break below 2.58 ever again. at least not until it in a worse case scenario takes out the 2016 high over 6.00.

Gold so far is hitting a pretty solid resistance in the 1437 area going back to 2013, this 'could' be a good place to top out short term and reset momentum. looking at gdxj, we have had a great wave 5 wave (wave 3) run up. now I am looking for a good 1-2 day pull back. If I see it fill the gap or anywhere under wave 4 I will get back in with my leverage. Core holdings un-change.
Edit: added back a few positions. Leaning towards gold refusing to let up and may want to shoot towards 1500 first.

Oil

from my previous chart, though oil has not closed above 60 yet, however it does look pretty impulsive to the upside, I am now leaning towards my alt count that oil is moving in a wave C up >66 but <75 before we see a move <42.

Gold

Some breather and possibly sideway grind until G20 meeting results. However when gold becomes this bullish, many indicators no longer apply, you just ride the waves. extreme bullish is yet another extension and wave higher and 1400 is wave 4 low with wave 5 hitting as high as 1500. Those already have position could look to this as a profit taking zone. Those waiting, I would wait for the magic number to be hit which lies around the 1375-1382 area.
edit: opening a small position here, if gold backtest <1380, will add more

Natgas

Met my 5 waves up objective. Now will wait for a good pull back and re-entering leverage

NBEV

came within 1 penny of my entry price, now found some life. Will continue to hold expecting wave 2 completed and wave 3 next, if it comes down and knocks me out then im done with this one until a new low and better risk/reward setup shows up
edit: im out. will wait for a better opportunity.

Weed stocks

A lot of them are starting to turn bullish on the daily charts. Get ready for a good run comin'

Names like ZYNE, IGC, VIVO all looks pretty good. Many are forming a bottom as we speak. I will considering adding on any pull backs going forward.

Gold

thanks to the trade news over the weekend, gold has finally dipped into a A=C fashion. Would like to see it start to slowly get back up and close above 1404. It is very close to the support 1370-1375. anything lower would trigger a much larger correction or even a serious notion and doubt of this rally.

Natgas

Beautiful 5 up and now working on C of 2 down already met the minimum drop required . Might have one more minor dip, but a good place to get in if a much larger wave 3 up is up next.

Natgas

So far it is moving text book EW. 5 up and 3 down. confirmed if price can close above 2.321, unless we get a more drawn out wave 2 with one more drop towards 2.24, it should just be another opportunity to add.

Well looks like we did get the same pattern. would be nice to see if find a way to close back above 34.08 to give me some confidence. I have added back another position yesterday. Gold is flirting just above the previous major resistance zone (now should be a major support) 1370-1375. Which, imo must hold. if there is any substance in this up move. My near term bias remains that gold shall find it's way to 1500 as a minimum with 1700 being the upper target.

Cron

If anyone is looking into or holding Cron, looks like a good low risk setup is at play. 5 up and possible 3 down. Once it can confirm closing back above 20.15 as well as the breakout pt over 21.56, Potential to put away the low for quite some time.

Continue text book EW. 5 up 3 down and upside breakout acting like a wave 3. Bought back under 2.31, so long it doesnt come down and knocks my position out. Will try to bet on bottom being in and a major up cycle is starting. If 2.31 breaks I'll have to consider yet another 5 waves down to a new low or diagonal 5 waves down

Nio

Its funny that it has a very similar structure as natgas. after entering twice on Jun6/7, I will be holding LT and see if this is a wave 3 breakout. Again, if price comes back down and knocks me out where I entered, I will have to wait this out for potentially yet another new low

Lots of whipsaw in both direction. I actually wanted to see a sideways 5 point range consolidation then a breakout to the upside. I wonder if this is a good day trading strategy for the short term. 1370-1375 remains my 'must hold' territory before having to worry about anything.

I dont play much other stock other than the ones I post. Just dont have as much time to trade as I use to.

Today

Sold Nio after 35% locking in profit as it has filled a previous gap at 3.59, next gap to fill is 3.9x, but putting my money else where.

Picked up a small position in Cron.to

Natgas, still holding. waiting for follow thru upside move to confirm trend change. would like to see it hit 2.52
