Comment on VMS?
I'm still holding onto VMS.. they are drilling right now.. they said in one of their interviews that they expect assay result sometime in Dec, and they might again post pictures of the cores again.. they are drilling right now, apparently ~3 holes.. hopefully once they get a couple more they will make a NR and post the core pictures ( cant expect them to post pictures after each hole.. hopefully. purely IMO.. they will post after ~ 5 holes done )

Funny thing is I track every single trade I make on a spreadsheet showing the net profit I made, time period held, total % return and so forth. About 65-70% of my trades are positive, however unfortunately I don't follow the maxim "sell your losers quickly".... I tend to hold them too long and lose more than I should.

rc2002

It's probably the same for any portfolio. One or two big losers can wipe out the gains from a dozen winners.

The market is one big scam - I'm starting to wish I stuck to GICs.

Good thing is, it can't really get much worse. The BPTSE is now below 40% (only been in this territory 3 times in 3 years) which should present a pretty serious bottom (unless we crash).

Haha I bought, it went down, back up and got out with a $70 gain. It ran high and might be other entry points to come when it gets low. But looking at where it came from price wise it's risky to buy at $1, although it can rocket up.

Hmm interesting. Kinda off topic but what the heck.

I don't have a PDA but was thinking of getting a Nokia N85 (or newer), Blackberry, etc. Bell has a plan with the HTC Touch and a $7 unlimited web browsing/email plan. Not sure what the limits are but looks like a good deal.

The $100 data plan sounds good though. Can you pm me the info as to what provider you go thru. The Aircard, is it actually a card or is it a USB device?

Back on topic. Not gonna buy more until some of the ones I have go back up. Averaged down enough already.

Anyone else think that there is something real strong about GRW and when the news hits it could explode? I mean the markets have been generally down for last couple of weeks and stocks have taken a hit from them but GRW has stayed strong, yet a weak market. That has to be a good indication.

What are the download/upload speeds with the Aircard? How does it handle streaming data?

Sounds really interesting. Yeah speed and security would be key.

We have Shaw Cable internet at my house as well as the place I am staying in up in Fort Mac. Poop I can bring my laptop to work and do stuff instead of using company internet. Or on the bus I can look like a geek and such.

When you click the "send" button to send the order via an online broker, you are usually taken to a separate page on the broker's website (which must finish loading first for you to see it) that gives you the details of the order that you are about to send, and asks you again if you really want to send your order. If you do, you would click the "send" button again and your order will be sent to your broker.

With a direct access stock trading platform, when you send the order you are not taken to a separate page, but remain where you are so that you can continue to track the market and your stocks. If you don't want to be asked whether or not you really want to send your order after you click the buy or sell button, you can set this up via the software (even though I recommend that beginning traders at least enable a small pop-up window giving them the details of the orders that they are about to send - this reduces the number of mistakes that novice traders make).

When you finally send the order to your online stock broker, you are often times emailing the order to the broker who then executes the order by sending it usually to a market maker (who gives the brokerage firm a rebate - payment for order flow), who then executes the order himself (usually, you cannot tell the broker "where" to send the order if you are using an online or a full-service stock broker).

This multi-step process takes time and can cost the investor or trader a lot of money (much more than the commission that the investor pays the broker). By losing time, the investor loses control of his trading which is a big disadvantage. The trader normally has to go to a different section of the online broker's website to see if and at what price the order was executed. Then, he might have to proceed to hit "Refresh" (or "Reload") on his web browser until the order information is displayed. This data can take several minutes to post if the broker's website is very busy that day (I know of many cases where the order was executed but the data was not posted on the broker's website, forcing the trader to call the broker via the phone to confirm).

With a direct access trading software like RealTick (or the appropriate currency day trading platform), once the order is sent it goes directly to the market. If there are shares available at the specified price, the order is executed in a fraction of a second and the confirmation is displayed instantly in a pop-up window, without any interaction required from the trader. Everything is done automatically, allowing the trader to spend his time watching the market.

The day trader also chooses the ECN or market maker that he wants to send the order to (not necessary with currencies when using some systems). Since he has access to level II (and sees all the available prices for each ECN and market maker), he can send the order where he thinks he is most likely to get the best price. This could result in frequent price improvement relative to online executions. For example, if an investor obtains a 0.10 improvement in price in a trade of 1000 shares, that the investor is saving $100 in the transaction. This can be very significant for active traders who make 50 or more trades in one month.

The benefit of having multiple places to send the order for stocks goes beyond mere price improvement. In an emergency situation (when everyone wants to buy or sell a stock at the same time), a trader with direct-access might be able to get out of or into a stock a lot easier than the typical online stock trader could.

Does anyone know if this applies to Canadian Online Brokers (IE TD WEBBROKER?)

Does anyone know of a direct trading platform with access to different ECNs?

Do we even use those ECNs in Canada?

Thanks!

Chart indicators is looking like GRW will drop a bit here. RSI is nearing dropping below the 50. Wm%R dropped below the -50 line and MACD is headed south. When is news supposed to be out. It's still in the upper half of the BB"s... would like to catch it if it heads towards the lower BB line.

What do you guys think. Support at the .15 .155 marks

So I'm trying to value a few smaller O&G companies, and am relatively new to trying this. Valuing retail companies is a simple, but O&G can be odd....

If a company has production of 5600 BOEPD, but it's based on 63% NG and 37% Oil..... how does the NG equivalence work? Obviously I understand the Oil side of BOE, but what about the NG side? I think BOE for NG works based on energy equivalence, but what's the value?

I've watched RSG for a long time. (Mostly because it's a thorn in my side.)

Each time it has gone up significantly in a day with volume way up as well, is a sign news is pending. Here the price is up and the volume not so much. BUT, if it were up...

If the volume stays higher than normal on the next day, and the price continues to go up, typically the news comes out the following 1-2 days.

That's pretty much what happened before each run it had in the recent past. So, definitely insider trading or people in the know or something. I'd say if price and volume goes up on Monday morning, then news is probably coming out very very soon. If it just sticks around .18 or .19, I'd say nothing is happening.

Volume and price on RSG has always gone up continually 2-3 days before news. Just have a look back at it and you will see what I mean.

Some select people definitely KNEW news was coming last time around. Volume went way up 2-3 days before, and I was like, hmmmm...

been doing some DD on GRW, and it looks very promising. Now that VMS said they are not going to release pictures of the core, I'm going to sell it and move them all onto either CMX or GRW, since we probably wont see assay result for VMS until Jan IMO.

I'm having a hard time deciding what to invest in, looks like the CMX result is suppose to due within days, while GRW sometime starting next week... IMO GRW has alot more upside than CMX.. buit should I be greedy and put it on CMX for this week, then get out as soon as the NR comes out (hopefully this week) and hop onto GRW< hopefully not missing the train....

or just not be greedy and get in on GRW now and let it ride hah.

From wat i've read apparently the GRW could come as early as sometime next week... the sample were rushed from Nov8th... 3-4 weeks put us into next week. ..

On the other hand apparently someone called to ask about the status for CMX and the earliest for those is not until end of this week at best.

He wouldn't tell me how long they were at the lab at the time of the NR....just said "have already been there for some time". if they were already there for a few weeks by November 8th then I could definately see them being out soon....If not, then I could see it taking a little while longer, possibly opening up a couple decent buy opportunities in the .15-.16 range.

He was promising core pics on the net a couple weeks ago too....so I'm not sure how credible he is now. He never followed through with that, who's to say it won't be longer than what he says for a timeframe for assays. Could be trying to keep the interest going. I know a few of the hosers on the SH site are trying to keep the pump on.

Assays are around 8-10 weeks turnaround, usually longer though given the massive backlogs at labs. I've also heard of some companies being blackmailed into paying more for their assays to be kept in line or expidited. :dunno:

meh...stupid labs playing hardball with desperate companies...

WHD Western Hemisphere Development
http://www.westhawkdevelopment.com/
http://smallcaps.ca/commentaries/whd20071103.htm

1- Natural Gas Producer in Colorado
2- Coal Gasification and Coal to Liquids projects in China and North America

Its trading near its 52 week low right now.

Pros:
Agreement with Encana to purchase all of the gas it produces
Experienced management team with credentials
Recent private placement with lots of insiders buying
Cash Flow
Lots of drilling activity
Low geopolitical risk

Other than that, I will be purchasing more EFR soon here as it got the crap kicked out of it.

Everything else on the TSX has sucked a lot of ass lately. haha

I have been acculumating these guys in the last couple of weeks :)

When they were dipping on low $2.00 range

I saw the interview as well. IMO, its a 5-25X investment in 2-3 years. Huge plant opening up in germany, thats been paid by the German government.

Damn! Good for you.

I haven't been following equities much anymore but BNN is always on and I happened to hear about this company. I may go against my nature and take a long term position haha

IMO, for full value on this stock..go longterm. I think the reward is going to be crazy good.

FSLR is trading around $200ish right now. Look at their previous year. They have gone up crazy crazy crazy. Its all about the plant and than contracts, which wont be hard to come by.

Like I said 2-3 year investment.

CMX is slowly climbing. Up to $0.26 right now. I think the news is 7 or less days away!

CMX = $0.27 and strong. Might be a slight dip with profit taking (day trading)

So I updated my Portfolio balance on my spreadsheet this afternoon.... and talk about crap lately!! I was doing really well up until about 2 months ago when the market when to garbage. What has this taught me? To be more defensive in my choices, and to ensure I'm willing to sell losers fast!

I easily have over a hundred trades to go through....maybe even a couple hundred. I have no idea, could be way more. I've made 10 trades in a day before. My uncle does my taxes and he is gonna kill me. :thumbsdow

Yah when tax time rolled around this year and I had to do the taxes it was a pain in the ass finding all the times I bought and sold. This year should be alot easier though because with ETrade everytime you make a trade(buy or sell) they send you a slip which gives you the date of the transaction and everything else you need to know. Pretty good idea if you ask me. With TD Waterhouse they just sent an end of year statement with all the trades which was pretty good too.

KXL halted this morning...

Glad I got into ATV yesterday. Already up 25% from my entry point. Cheap play that is near KXL area.

CMX slowly creeping up @ $0.285

If this thing breaks the $0.30 barrier BEFORE news, and the resutls are good.....expecting a 100% return

Hope you are right, that would be sweet on CMX.

Who is buying more GRW at .155-.16?

I am buying more GRW soon. I am hoping CMX news is out first (which is should be) and than going to sell part of my position and move that into GRW.

I am also looking at increasing my position in SNO and ATV

KXL news is out and its a BIG ONE!

I am glad I bought LME and ATV this morning when the hault occurred. Could easily move both of these stocks when it re-opens for trading.

Both those look damn good right now.

EDIT: What made you pull the trigger on those two? Land right beside KXL or something?

Yup. I also got into ONT and SGX. Same reason during the halt. All of them up big time due to KXL. I think they will run at least another day than I am getting out of ONT forsure and maybe SGX. Might hold onto ATV for a bit longer.
