Damn that IQW.

I bought 40000 shares yesterday at .225 and flipped it at .235 and then bought it back at .225 etc.

Today I was watching it do nothing trading at .23 and I decided to just try to flip it again and the damn thing sold at .235 and went up to .28 which is about $2000.00 in lost potential. Ugh. Very annoying.

Oh well, still made some money but I hate it when that happens!

This is a L2 on SNO from just now. If someone buys the 14000 shares at .455, is it likely that the bid will increase or is it likely that someone else will put in a sell lower than .46.

I'm having trouble really being able to analyse a L2 with any degree of predictability as to what will happen.

I have seen people take a stock that is trading lightly with not many shares on the sell at a good range (ie, only 100000 shares at .30 - .37 and so they buy them all up) And then suddently the stock starts trading like mad. But I've also seen that happen and those shares get snapped up leaving a gap of ask to sell of 0.08 (ie bid .30 ask .38) and the stock just falls down. Are there any real indicators inside a L2 which is really going to tell you the story of what it will do?

Are you holding a few shares of SNO Z?

I have a few shares. Not sure if some are driving the price down to reload, or if it's market sentiment. Not much volume anyways. Potential is good so not sure why not more are jumping on board. My concern would be the price movement from .25 to what it is now has the built SP increase assume good NR. Will see.

Damn I should have tripled my shares at .50!

I bought in last year at 1.71 and would have sold if my account had transferred from one broker properly before this run as I was getting sick of it!

Hmm...when to sell now?

I also picked up another 5k of BUK and 2k of CAA this AM.

They're just hanging on to SNO waiting for the Diamond Count news release which should be late this weak, early next.

Very big play for Rat and I don't know how much Kappa holds but probably a lot too. Rat got about $146,000+ in that stock according to my quick calcs. Roughly.

So, you know, big news will be a big deal because he'll be buying drinks (and maybe car parts) for everyone in the thread. Right Rat?

Back into SNO today at .17

Z_Fan
03-04-2008, 09:46 AM
I bought more SNO today too.

However, I will just point out the trend that occurred with CMX and GRW. The day after it's crappy news release, it opens way low, just like this day with SNO - then it creeps up a few pennies, much like SNO did hitting .20 - and then over the next few days, it steadily declines.

CMX and GRW now sit at the .10 range (roughly) to give you an idea of where SNO is going to be by the end of the week if it follows the same trend in trading price as those two tanking stocks did - and make no mistake, SNO has tanked big time essentially zero diamond count.

I'm not sure what I am going to do yet.

Hmm is this normal? Before open I put in a buy of 20,000 at 0.22. When I got in and checked it filled at 0.155. Anyways activities showed $3109.99 spent on those 20,000 shares even though by bid was 0.22.

So I sold those shares at 0.21. I either made .055 on a share, or lost a penny with that sell.

ouch on SNO, thats why I stay away from any Diamond play or Jr oil exploration play.. too much of a hit and miss, but of cause if they do hit easy 10 baggers. I say you guys should just move onto the next play, Greed and Fear will kill ya.

right now i'm keeping my eyes on a few such as CAA, VMS, TAM, IXS...

CAA is my fav right now, they are going to court w/ hudbay right now as we speak and imo they will win.

TAM finally got the approval and just a matter of time before they offically get the permit from the minister....

VMS is pulling up some great numbers, w/ the latest hole pretty close to the discovery numbers ( but not quite). But their $1.50 pp shares are becoming free trading this Friday I believe

IXS-- still doing my DD on this one

You said you bought $12,000 worth of stock, but how much were you risking? The whole $12,000? Were you using a stop? I don't know what your entry/stop was on SNO, so I'll use another example.

If X is trading at $20.00/share, and your stop is placed at $19.00, your risk per share is $1.00.

If your portfolio has a balance of 50K (no margin) you should risk no more then 2% of your balance per trade. 1-1.5% is ideal.

2% of 50K is $1000. Therefore, with the trade above, risking $1.00 a share, you could buy 1000 shares (plus commision and slippage) and still be only risking 2% of your portfolio.

Of course with pennys' risk/reward isn't always great, and to make good coin you need to go in larger. Modify that formula if you need to.

Maybe that doesn't help you, or you already knew it. Others can adopt this method as well

i dont think a stop loss would've help him save too much w/ SNO opening at over 50% lower the next morning the next day

No, but you have to plan for shit like that especially in pennies. Personally, thats why I don't play them. If I do, I'm in and out within the same day.

From Canaccord:

Snowfield Development (SNO : TSX-V : $0.19), Net Change: -0.27, % Change: -58.89%, Volume: 16,691,421

A diamond (company) in the rough. As opposed to the fairway. A flurry of selling drove Snowfield's share price down by more

than 50% yesterday, after the grass roots diamond explorer announced initial results from the Saskatchewan Research Council

laboratories with respect to the processing of 1,044 kg of kimberlite from the top sill level of the Mud Lake kimberlite.

Obviously investors chose to jump ship instead of waiting for the balance of the results, (519 kilograms) being processed at

DeBeers Johannesburg, South Africa diamond recovery facility, to be released. The company said these results are expected in

late March or early April, 2008. The Mud Lake kimberlite is part of Snowfield's Ticho Diamond Project, located on Great Slave

Lake, 55 km South East

I'm normally not holding penny stocks very long - but I had no opportunity to sell with a stop loss in this case anyhow. So, I'm simply out $7,200.00 overnight.

Rat Fink lost a lot more. Maybe he can tell you exactly. But I estimate it to be $70,290.00 give or take a couple grand.

I generally will put in stop losses the second I get a fill. However, on SNO I didn't have one. But it wouldn't have mattered.

I've found that the only trades I am successful on is small flips for a penny or two. Using volume to generate profit. All my huge losses have occurred where a HUGE drop in stock value happens at halt or overnight after a news release screws things up.

Folks, don't fall for hype and pumping from people you don't know. Do your own DD. I was foolish enough to go for SWVC, CMX, GRW, and SNO based on speculation and hype. $105k went to $68k and down to $38k in a hurry. Takes a lot longer to go the other way.

So you've lost $67,000.00 in the last 12 months then. (or so)

Wow. Someone who is doing as well as me!

I wouldn't say anybody would be foolish when they choose to play these kinds of stocks. Was it the fact that you guys were making money on the stock but didn't sell and hoped it'd shoot up more? or bought in too high and didn't even make 1 penny point on the stock?

I meanthose stocks listed DID go up, some of them WAY up.. so either it was bought too high or didn't sell in time..

Yeah, I still have some stock but will try to get out, pay some bills etc. Will invest in other things, put some $ into the house, put $ into a 2nd house, other investments etc. Better bang for the buck. Fortunately the job pays well so the losses doesn't sting as much. Nevertheless, many other places for the $ to go instead of in the stock market.

All my huge losses have been the result of holding for too long. In most cases going from being up a few thousand dollars at close to down ten thousand dollars at open...

Generally news released at NIGHT which caused a serious loss on open is the culprit. No opportunity for a stop loss to work.

Certainly, could have sold for gains on every stock. True.
I am doing little flips now. But lot easier to make nice gains with 100k as compared to 30k.

i know you were thinking of quitting your day job to day trade full time. Now that's probably out the window, but in the future i was thinking it would be nice to have a full time chatroom and ventrillo set up to center around a calgary/beyond daytrading group. It would be a small group with serious traders trading full time that could also meet up in RL one in a while.

With Ventrillo it would almost be like everyone is working in the same firm, but online

Gonna do it! I trade better hungry anyways. Will keep me from stupid decisions. I won't be able to buy the plane I wanted right now....but will have money to trade full time for sure. Every time I trade "hungry" I always whip my account back into the big dollars....it's as soon as I feel comfortable/secure that I get fucked. Now I'm going to force myself into a situation that makes me trade hungry every time.

I won't be giving him a 2 week bail date....but will work with him to figure out a decent time to leave.

I need to get out of the Hat. I'm going crazy here. I'll probably take up a night job for a little more security until my trading picks back up, but TOMORROW IS THE DAY!!!

When I go full-time I am definately up for setting up a chat room. I know a couple full-time traders who will be up for joining in as well. Right now it's sketchy for me to be on it while I'm at work.

that is awesome dude. I wish you all the best. I have the same thoughts, but you have more balls than i do.

Why Lethbridge though? I was/am considering moving down near Huston where i can get back into the oil and gas industry if needed, but i can also buy an awesome house cheap near the Ocean. Thats the great part of being a trader. You can live anywhere. Not to mention the US has much more variety when it comes to online brokerages.

honestly, with the amount of money you have you could be really successful day trading. Buying and holding penny stocks is like tossing your money around in a Casino. Daytrading and Swingtrading using technical and fundamental analysis playing sound stocks can earn you a nice return.

For example, i pretty much only tade $5 and up NASDAQ stocks that i can judge trends on based not only on the individual stock, but on the overall market trend. Not to mention so many others trade NASDAQ that you can always find good people giving out tips and watchlists (obviously do your own DD). Trading non shitty penny stocks also gives you the opportunity to short and trade different spreads with a combination of stocks and options.

With the amount of money you've made, partly skill and partly luck, i'm wondering why you still stick to the lottery ticket penny stock plays. You’re a smart guy and could really put that money to a better full time trading strategy.

Agreed...even some stocks on the TSX have mood swings of 5-10% daily. Ive been thinking of working on this strategy myself but just can't commit the time or money at this point. But I can see making 3% conservatively a day a piece of cake for you.
