Post up a picture of your car on a flat bed, and if you want, give a little story as to why.

My last car. When I was younger, made the mistake of having a mr.lube do an oil change.... Stripped my bolt that goes into the pan to drain the oil..... (There is a thread somewhere on beyond.ca about it)

Dont have a pic of mine, but going in for a clutch change, the car was not drivable at all. It was minus -20(w/o windchill) at 7 in the morning when the truck showed up. Had to take the front bumper off so the car could make it up the ramp :D haha

why didnt you just drive it to wherever you had to go :dunno: , add some oil at most or was there more than just the oil sump bolt?

Had my clutch grenade itself 150km outside town, that was an expensive tow...

ohh i thought you meant it was stripped shut, i.e: pretty much welded on with a box wrench/socket.

all the times my cars were towed i was either not there or too pissed off to take pics lol

My old NSX, after a rad house went in the bottom of the engine bay. Couldn't get to it at all, so off to the dealership it went. :(

Didn't need a flatbed for this one, but I never thought the spare would actually come in handy. Blew a tire just outside Airdrie on my way to Calgary for DTP '08. Got a new tire the morning of the show, had to threaten a guy (kidding!) to mount it right away and got the car in the show.

Didn't have a camera phone at the time, but our Focus' fuel line system crapped out in the middle of Podunkville Idaho on a road trip back from San Diego. Had to wait 8 hours for a tow truck, pay $280 USD and an awkward 2.5 hour ride in the front cab of the tow truck with the driver to Idaho Falls. We then had to wait 2 days for the Ford stealership to fix the recall-based problem.

Good times on the flatbed.

I don't have pics, but a couple years ago I worked for an Excavating company, I was at a gravel pit in Bears Paw, had my Prelude at the time, at the end of the day I went to head home, got in the car but she didn't turn over, checked under the hood and everything, ended up having it towed home in McKenzie Lake, after checking all over the car I found that the fuse box down near my feet I must of slightly hit and a fuse fell out, can't remember which one, think it was for the starter, so I put it back in and she started right up, so cost me about 200$ due to a fuse not being in place.:banghead:

Have pictures somewhere, maybe will load later.

1st: GTR, blew the clutch trying to tune it. No good. Easy to tow.

2nd: SL500, one of the distributors went and it felt like the car was going to rattle itself apart running on 4 cyls. Took over an hour to try and get it up and it was about -20.

3rd: Same SL500, boosted the car (opps my mistake) blew almost every computer after the over voltage relay proved faulty. Same issue getting on to the flat deck. $5000 repair. Not impressed.

4th: Same SL500, throttle cable broke on the 9th ave flyover from 14th street south into downtown at 830am :D Was a stones throw away from Hyatt Mercedes, yet took me 2 hours to get there, effectively screwed all of southbound calgary in the process. Tow truck came, dolley had a flat tire, called a second tow truck, what are the chances, his dolley was flat too. 3rd try got a flat deck. 2 hour tow, 2 minute drive, 1000s of late and upset Calgarians, all because a bus wouldnt back up so I could just push it downhill into Hyatt hahah. Priceless.

5th: FD RX7, clutch line popped, couldnt release clutch, nearly crashed into the guy ahead of me in rush hour traffic. I had to load the car on to the truck myself as the guy was to scared and inexperienced with slammed cars. Took foreverrr.

*fingers crossed I don't need one again*

Demolished both front CV joints, wrecked front shock mounts and bushings. Limped off the trail to Cochran and called AMA.

Sorry about the bad pictures.

No picture but in my old Prelude I hit a rock in the middle of the night on Macleod Trail and blew 2 tires. No spare(s) in the car. It was a bitch to get on the flatbed too. Had to use some boards under the tires just to get it up. Not a fun night.

Only once: I had to get this home somehow

This time I should just transport the crate by air, so I avoid customs fees crossing the border.

No pics but when I had the RSX-S I was driving the car back from Secret Street and there was an exhaust leak right after the header and the car could barely make it home. The next day I tried driving it to a mechanic but the car couldnt make it out of my block. I had to get it flat bedded to my mechanic and it turned out to be a blocked cat.

Didn't have a camera with me at the time, but my E46 blew the ECU at North Hill Mall. Had to have it towed to the dealership.

E46 is the ONLY car i've ever had that's really caused me major probs.

Didnt want to take pictures and I will explain why, took both my prelude and ITR to Winnipeg for a show, on the way to the show downtown Winnipeg someone ran a red light integra got crunched in between two cars, called a flat deck from Calgary picked it up in Winnipeg 14 hours later, on the way home in the prelude timing belt tensioner failed (auto tensioner fails over 300 hp) towed that thing from Regina back to Calgary. Tow truck total for one weekend 5500

I was 16, watching the 'street races' back in Ottawa.
went to do a u-turn, dropped 1 wheel off the 'sharp edge' of the roadway causing my lowered car to bottom out. Lacking an LSD I just span the wheel that was in the gravel, not moving the car.

Just at that moment 3 cop cars come in from every direction and box me in, accusing me of street racing, and driving wrecklessly which resulted in me putting my car in the ditch.

Before the officers had shown up I already had a call into CAA to come tug me out as my one wheel was just spinning in gravel and had started to sink from trying to rock it out.

I explained to the officer that I wasn't driving wrecklessly and was just doing a u-turn when my wheel slipped off the pavement and into the soft gravel shoulder where it sank in.

Anyways, the cops went over my car, found one tire that had less than minimum tread wear on the inside shoulder (because of camber) and stated my vehicle was unsafe and had to be towed home.

Luckily the CAA guy who showed up came complete with a flatbed, not 30 seconds after the cop told me I'd have to take it home (and denying my request to put a spare tire on, although now I think about it he really couldn't have stopped me from this as it would have made my vehicle 'safe' again).

Best part was, as the 3 cop cars had me boxed in, about 20+ modded cars went flying by, and due to the configuration they had created around my car there was no way for them to get out quickly enough to pursue them. The look on their faces was priceless.

I DID have pics of the whole ordeal (including of my car boxed in by the cops, my car on the flatbed) but that was 8 years ago... I'll check some backups to see if I can find em'.

Hydro Planed on deerfoot last summer in my old Mustang, hit that fancy new guard rail they had just put in. Just about bounced me back onto the Highway. Frame crumpled like an accordian.

I've always been told dollies can get under slammed cars better from tow drivers.

Sorry these are the 35mm camera days so I had to scan them. This was 6-7 years when I was a teen.

Helped out a family friend haul his anitque (Bentley/ Aston Martin) from near Chicago. (estate sale off a farmer there)

He had a 1 ton piece of shit Ford rigged as a flat deck, and a car trailer. (one of those guys who likes to play poor so nobody jacks him; I mean those 2 cars cost him more than my new school work truck, that's before restore)

So the story is, near North or South Dakota the U-joint on the 1-ton gave out... so he called his CAA (he's an RV member, cuz he owns a huge RV bus too), and CAA paid for a 5-ton flat deck, to have our Ford 1-ton flat deck (with a car on it), and towed the car trailer too... lol (that's the pitch black photos, sorry)

Got U-joint fixed locally, made it all the way to Swift Current, and then the clutch gave after filling up at that shitty Esso, lol...

So he just said fuck it, and got Calgary tow truck friends to get the anitques back home and I believe he just scraped the 1-ton (we took the Greyhound back home  from Swift Current, so lucky no head chopping Chinaman on that bus)

haha! Good thread

I've had the misery of using flat beds everytime I crash a vehicle. Sharing pictures publicly of the tragic events will be the last thing I do.
Those of you who use flat beds to get to the track are very fortunate. Some of us only use them on the way out
