Laptop crashes on battery power?

Just got a new laptop. It crashes when running off the battery (ie. not plugged in), when viewing youtube full screen or playing games. It even crashed once when I was scrolling through the forums and some guy uploaded a super huge jpg.

When I say crash I mean, it freezes and I have to do a hard reboot.

It's somehow related to the graphics card and battery power.

So my question is, do you think its the battery that's crashing my laptop.

Reason I'm asking is, I'd rather just get a new battery then exchange the whole laptop (I bought it online).

Yes, I did that. I switched it to high performance when on battery. Still crashes.
