Friends of mine use this type of crate (the bigger one): http://leerburg.com/Photos/a_crates.jpg plus a wood canopy to keep the sun/rain off of their Great Danes when they take take them to shows.
The crates are very light, but the wood canopy/shelter takes 2 to lift off, but does not stop you from using the bed so long its not for anything tall.

The saying that dogs are mans best friend rings true for a lot of people. I take my dog everywhere that is allowed by law. I have a car so i dont run into this problem.

To the OP i have seen some one off aluminum ones made. I am certain they are very expensive however.

What i would do is call up a fab shop and get some quotes. My buddy worked at a fab shop and was a welder so basically he just paid for the Al.

Its pretty slick tho. Its all aluminum with stainless cage doors. The sides and top were water jet cut for weight and air. The whole thing weighs around 60lbs i believe. Its easy enough for one man to take out.

I lol'd at the computer fans haha.

That will give you an idea of what to look for. I dont think those places are in canada but after some more googling i am sure you could find somewhere semi local that might even build them.

Or take the picture to a fab shop and say "I can haz dis? How much moniez?"
