hmm, I guess in that store they don't lock the laptops or anything else. :dunno:

I believe they are, but the wire used to secure them doesnt seem to be that strong. I always thought they were an electrical wire that triggered an alarm if there was an interruption in the line?

The wire is not strong at all, basically just double sided taped on. Atleast it is at the apple store here. When I was there at the store waiting to get my Iphone I was playing around with a touch and my finger touched the back sticky thing and the wire fell off, no alarms or anything I had to tell the rep that the wire fell off then he took the itouch to the back.

Pretty crazy how fast they cleaned up house though, the video is so dramatic haha.

I wonder if the GPS in the IPhones can be tracked by Apple on a new unregistered phone? I know my Iphone can be tracked very easily.

That's was insurance is for isn't it? :dunno: Can they profit from it becuse the value of the products are higher then that of which they paid for them?

I'd almost be happy to have this happen, you get fresh inventory, a few days off and a ton of publicity.
:dunno:

They're Macs. The security devices are probably magnetic.

There might as well not been a security guard there.

Well, lets face it, ANY store security guard is only there to prevent teens from shop lifting, and to get descriptions of actual thiefs.

You aren't going to find many sane people willing to risk their lives for a few laptops, for the wages they get.

I find it strange that the laptops had no apparent security on them at all. I know chords are easy to break, but not one of those even stopped for a split second, when the tension on the chord would get tight.

And what if it did alarm? You think the cops would be there in 18 seconds?

I'm willing to bet that place was nothing but squealing sirens during that whole operation. An alarm only tells you there is a problem, it doesn't solve the problem for you.

Heros, that was very impressive and insanely fast. Sirens probably were on, except by the time police were notified and on they way, they probably were long gone already.

Hey, I like the magnet! I'm waiting for an retractable power cord :D

But seriously, those security devices are BS. Should actually attach cabled notebook locks secured onto poles instead of those strings you see on phone displays. But I guess they rather have the clean store look instead.

Well what's the security guy gonna do? Stop 5 guys with a gun when he doesn't even have a gun himself?

Not all security guys are John McClain.

Robberies are all about speed, the sooner your outta there the better your off. Reminds me of the movie Point Break.

The security devices that they use do not achually hold the laptops down. They are made by a company named Protex, and when the USB connection is touched or pulled out alarms go off. Now most places combine this with a restraining device but apple chooses not to.

Shit that was impressive, those guys didn't even slow down once haha. Security guard looks so stunned when we comes and sees all the laptops gone lol.
