Hi again, some results from Nathan Smith from automotive photo shoot with suzukaS2K and his 2006 Honda S2000. We took these pictures of this car in and around Edmonton earlier in August. Take a peek and please comment constructively!

Nice photos Nathan.

The main criticism that I can give, with my untrained eye, is the lack of creativity in these shots. They look just like any other decently done rolling shots and have a been-there-done-that feel to it.

Also not a big fan of the blatant and repetitive self promotion. We all know by now that you are Nathan Smith of Nathan Smith Photography from Edmonton.

I wonder why he hasn't been forced to pay a sponsorship package yet. I can't even put my business name in my signature let alone my username and ONLY post threads about my shoots!

As for the photos, I am siding with Juror here. The editing style is too csi-miami for my tastes, but at least they are all sharp and in focus!

I love the coloring choices but find that they are too heavily shadowed/contrast rich for the most part....just a tad though.

The oddly tilted but not tilted enough watermark really bothers me. Sorry.

Thanks for commenting. I had a little of the same feeling, I am having trouble finding new ways to shoot the rolling shots. I have another set I'm working on that does add some new elements to the mix, though, and I will post them here (with less self-promotion) thanks!

PS - I really enjoy your username, 30 Rock FTW.

I'm trying to develop a visual style that's noticeable and enjoyable, something that pops off the screen with color and composition. I haven't seen the show, but the pics in Google's images search do show they're using some warming filter, the greens and yellows look really warm and prominent in CSI Miami.

Thank you for your feedback. I really tried to keep an eye on the shadows in this set. Still too much? I think this is the minimum amount of contrast I'd use for a set like this. Is it what you'd see in a Honda advertistment or brochure? Maybe, maybe not. Is it marketable? I still think "yes". :D

Thanks for your notes, I will keep all this in mind when I start my next set of automotive shots.

I was JUST looking at that... literally 15 minutes ago. I was thinking "my stuff just isn't as good as these rig shots".
