Hey guys I'm new on the forum and I need a little help.
I'm planning on buying a mazda mx3 but I won't have my g2 until around january. What do I need to do legal wise so I can just have it sitting in my garage while I work on it for a couple of months?

Dont buy an Mx3, thats the best advice i can give you. Had 2 of them and it was a waste of time and money.

G2 is the GDL status. No alcohol/passengers limited to number of safety belts? G1 is learners, G2 is graduated, G is full-on license.

You can have the car in your garage no problem. Registration requires a drivers license (G1 will do) and insurance (you can also get this with just your G1). I suggest getting fire/theft only on the vehicle while you're not driving it, you will save a LOT of money this way. If you can get the seller to deliver it for you (explain your situation) before he removes his insurance from it this will also save you some hassle.

yeah dont buy an mx3. As LadyLuck said their crap cars.
Dont get me wrong they're quick if you do a KL-ZE engine swap on them (the 200hp 2.5L V6 only offered in Japan).
But as is? their shitty little cars. There is a reason you can get one for so very cheap;) Besides, whats up with a 1.8L V6? :nut:

if you are insistant on a mazda from that era, buy an 93-97 MX6. Its a MUCH nicer car and quite a bit more reliable.

lol? As much of a POS the mx3 is, the mx6 is the exact same car minus the engine.... what makes it more reliable/better?

ok ok so it'd be a shitty car but I've got like 5-6000 total in the bank and as a new driver a lot of that would go to insurance so my options are pretty limited.
I need something for like 2000 or less that I can drop a few thousand into and make it run well and look nice. Oh and stick shift is very important to me :D
By the way someone mentioned a klze engine swap. How much would that run me? I might be getting another job anyways so throw me some numbers.
I'm in Ontario so if you're going to refer me any adds I'd appreciate if you can keep it geographically relevant :)

Lol?
the Mx3 is based off of the 323 platform, the MX6 is based off or the 626 platform. No they are not at all the exact same car, not in the least.

The engine being different? what? the block is the exact same for the 1.8L as it is with the ZE & the USDM offered 2.5L V6/KL-DE. Which is exactly why KL-DE or even KL-ZE swaps are so very common amongst the Mx3 community. Its actually quite a simple straight forward swap.

Only the above the block are there any differences.
(notice the various parts interchange-ability between the two engines? coincidential? I dont think so.) I used to have quite a few Mx3 parts on my KL-DE mx6 engine & tranny.

arr... i know about the engine difference, thats why i said they are different. 1.8L =/ 2.5L.... I have also done two KLZE swaps.
