WOOHOO!!! I feel much better now that I can say I am a Z owner. I drove from Tucson, AZ to just South of San Jose, CA (about 810 miles each way) to bring this Z home. It's a '91 5-speed normally aspirated Slicktop (no T-Tops) so it's the lightest Z32 you can get. It will undergo a Twin Turbo swap in the near future but for now the plan is to just fix it up and get it on the road.

The seller's yellow Twin Turbo converted Slicktop in the background.

$60 tow bar saved me more than that in fuel costs if I had to use my trailer and saved quite a bit of time on the trip there since CA has that stupid 55mph speed limit when towing.

The last time I posed next to a Z wearing this shirt I was not smiling.

My cousin was quick to point out the irony of this situation.....the end of my last Z was the beginning of the current car. This was only 15 minutes from the sellers home (blowing the opposite direction fortunately for him) and we drove through it both directions. You can see the wrecked vehicle that started the blaze.

I will be starting a dedicated thread in the Members Rides section for all future updates, I wonder if it will rival the thread for my first Z in views.....

Good luck with your new build! It's SO nice to see someone with a certain sense of loyalty to his car. Both past and present.

Trust me, I never planned on leaving the Z scene. I was looking online for another 1990 Super White Twin Turbo 5-speed with charcoal interior within hours after the fire started. There were 11 exact copies of my old Z (326 exterior with charcoal interior, 5-speed, FED emissions, Bose, climate control, built 10/89) and I was really hoping to find one of the other 10 out there. I then settled for everything but the build date (my birthday is in October) and I found a great low mile example in TX but I just couldn't get the cash together and eventually had to pass after remaining in contact with the seller for over a year. I stumbled across this Slicktop that was being parted out and was able to snag it before the important stuff had been sold off. I really didn't want a project but I picked it up for $700 USD so I consider that a deal I couldn't refuse.

I desperately miss my old Z but I already feel great about this new car. It actually filled a small void left by the last one.

Thanks Redlyne, the Champ Car is getting very close actually. The list is down to; brake calipers, brake pedal, decide on/install engine, some other small stuff.

Rob

Just curious...how much would a brake pedal on a bad boy like that cost?

Good to see you back in stride!

I feel ya man. I just got my 300 TT tuned up, and it is kicking out 350rwhp on a Mustang Dyno... which converts to smewhere around 450 flywheel. While this one has been built up quite a bit, the 300's are sick cars all around....

IF I could even find one it would be a few hundred dollars I'm sure. I am making everything I need for the car except for complex things such as the shocks and clutch etc. I already made the clutch pedal out of billet aluminum. The brake is a tad more important so it will be constructed from steel.
