I was driving on 16ave East this morning a bit after foothills hospital. I think its a 60 zone and I was going about 85, I drove through a GREEN light yet i saw a nice big flash... so I'm guessing those red-light cameras now have speed cameras on them??

so...how much should I expect the ticket to be when I get it soon? :banghead:

I found this really old thread (http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?threadid=70789) which has a list of fines/demerits. It's from 2004, so it's not recent at all, but it should be a good ballpark range.

^thanks

according to that I"m looking at about 200, but thats in 2004, so I'd only expect it to be higher now. No points tho since it was a camera not a cop

I'm pretty sure that those are the current fines. I know that they passed a new version of the Traffic Safety Act this June, but I don't think the fines and demerits were changed.

This thread is retarded.

You DO NOT get demerits when caught with a camera. It goes against the car, NOT the driver.

Green light cameras have been around for months, were have you been?

Just don't pay it, make them prove who was driving. I hate these tickets, it's like guilty until proven innocent. I don't speed but if I did I just wouldn't pay these tickets.

THIS. A friend of mine once tried to weasel out a ticket upon his next new registration last year. No go! the clerk at registration don't give a fuck and won't renew... so he ended up paid his ticket to contiune his driving with his car.

Said to me that it's all the same and equal to everyone in Calgary.

i think your fine will be zero....

I cant think of any red/green light cameras on 16th near the hospital. only one i can think of eastbound is at sait (16th and 10th street).

unless of course this was done from a photo radar van....

Might have then been 25 over.

I cant recall exactly! I just know that the fine was 156 diamonds!

This was about a year ago though.

I just looked it up, and the double speeding ticket offences don't include school/playground zones. It's double fines for speeding in a construction zone with workers present, and passing a stopped emergency vehicle or tow truck that has its lights flashing at more than 60 km/hr or the speed limit for the road, whichever is lower.

the definitive answer to what the speeding fines are can be found in the Procedures Regulation (http://www.qp.alberta.ca/574.cfm?page=1989_233.cfm&leg_type=Regs&isbncln=9780779743148)

Speeding offences are found under Part 28 and Part 28.1, which is pretty far down that document, which lists all of the specified penalties for all provincial legislation.

When referring to this list, remember that it doesn't include the 15% Victim Fine Surcharge, so when it says 15kph over is $78, it doesn't mean the ticket is wrong when it says $89. The amount written on the ticket includes the $11 for the Victim Fine Surcharge.
