A friend of mine wants to use these pictures in some youth canada project she is working on:

As flattered as I am, I know there are things that could be improved. I could go down to that one location and shoot the picture again, or it might be something I could fix in the post-processing stage. ANY advice, I would really appreciate it.

Cheers.

Everyone is going to have a slightly different approch on how they like to post process pictures. Maybe it would be better if you could try a few different things, post your results and let people here pick which ones they think look better.

I don't know, those look pretty good to me :dunno:

Might be interesting to see what the river would have looked like blurred with a really slow shutter speed, but I don't think that would necessarily add anything.

I'll see if I can smooth out the river and post the result. For the other one, I'd actually like to remove the blurred 'ghost' to the left of the 3 people, but everytime I use the spot heal, it just blurs the fuck out of it, looks like a nasty smear and doesn't actually repair anything. Any tips on how to remedy that?

Try cloning or the "normal" healing brush.

You can clone that out, it will just take a little while longer than usual. I've cloned some pretty ridiculous stuff out of my pictures before and I'm not amazing with photoshop. Use a soft brush and clone areas as close as possible to the ghosting.
