That may indeed be my next car, but in 3 door. :hitit: :hitit:

They have both as shown in the pictures. We will probably get the 3-door as the last two r's were that way. Very cool though, glad it got the awd. Plenty of power, just hope the price isnt too high as the last two R32's in the US were sti money.

Wow, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually like it :drama:

Still, BRING OVER THE SCIROCCO!

Any chance it'll make it to Canada?

"With the manual gearbox the Golf R speeds up to 100km/h (62mph) from standstill in 5.7 seconds, while the DSG model is a tad faster completing the same sprint in 5.5 seconds. In both cases, top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h or 155mph.
"

Not bad, but I too wonder what the pricing will be :dunno:

Holy mother that's perfect.
DSG+AWD+270hp
0-60 in 5.5 is good enough for a daily driver. My WRX265 is quicker but that depends if I botch the launch or not haha

How much and when can I get one?

I really like it. I'm kind of tired of the L.E.D bumper strip everyone is copying from Porsche. (Yes, even though porsche and vw are together) Saw the new E class coupe with them in the bumper the other day...

This. IMO, the best looking golf since the MKIV's first came out.

this.

Beautifully done and granted to gotta pay to play, but historically the premium they are asking is just too much IMO.

Looks awesome, like others have said I really hope the price is not too high as the R32 has been priced in the Evo-Sti territory

If this ever makes it to Canada it will be in the EVO - STI price range. high 30s low 40s. IMO well worth it because they are much much nicer cars.

I only like it as a 3-door. Cool car.

If it is priced in that range I think that is a shame.

why is it a shame, the interior and quality is way better.

The regular GTI loaded is in the mid 30s so I don't see how this new R is going to come in much under 40K.

It would compete well with the STI and EVO I think.

anybody else think the 3 door kinda looks like an EP3?

The interior and quality will be better than the Evo and STI. But from my point of view the Evo and STI are faster and more hardcore I guess. I've never driven an evo/sti/R32/R20 so take my opinion with a huge grain of salt.

I think VW North America is going to have a problem with the pricing scheme of their cars. With 265hp the R20 sounds like Mazdaspeed3/Ralliart/WRX competition, but the GTI should run with that crowd.

Doesn't exactly make sense to me. :dunno:

Higher than STI quality in all departments except acceleration, IMO.

The VW interior on the Mk4 R32 is incomparable in its class.

Clean interior on this R20 as well...not so sure if I like the 5 door though, it reminds me too much of Mazda 3s. Would defintely pick up a 3door though, +1 for 6spd VW!

This R20 seems like it will be more of a competitor to the Mazdaspeed 3, WRX 265, Cobalt SS Turbo and Lancer Raliart rather than the STi/EVO. Those cars are in the ~260ish HP range and 0-100km/h 5-6sec range and priced in the high 20's to the mid 30's. The EVO/STi are faster more hardcore cars and also more expensive. So if this car is priced in the low-mid 40's like the STi/EVO I don't think it will be worth the money IMHO.

I would be surprised if the R20 has a base price over $35k.

Too bad it'll never have the sweet VR6 sound.

That price would be perfect. Sign me up! If it was priced in the $40-$45K range, it would be tough for me to give up my WRX for it.

Ahhh fuck it I probably still buy it lol

It's not always about speed. The WRX is actually faster than the STI yet it costs $7500 less.

I doubt VW will bring this to Canada, but it would be nice to see it here.

I have the same feeling about this. The previous two generations of R32 were never sold here.

Say it doesn't come here. You can still import it I presume?

Same old rules, pay the currency, GST, duty (6.1%), hopefully no mods required.

Does VW offer NA warranty? or just US only?

I want this car! LOL

Probably won't see any of them until next spring as they are just rolling out in Europe? :dunno:

The bumper laws now conform, you can bring in both MKIV and MKV R32's, yes we will see it here.

But no, a us imported vw carries no warranty here after 08 i think it was.

No, starting with 2008 models, anything before that that still was under warranty was fine.

I agree it's not just about the speed and yes the WRX 265's 0-100 sprint is the same (+/- 0.1sec depending on which magazine you read) as the STi's but the STi is a more hardcore car with more power, better braking, better suspension, better seats.......

But speed is very important in this category of affordable sporty cars especially for the 20-30yr old age demographic which is most interested in these cars. :dunno:
