I now Runningworld has them for sure. My sister bought shin wraps last winter from them.
I just looked and even footlocker sells them online.

Get good insoles! That will make a serious improvement with shin splints. I got them in lacrosse SO bad one year, and that really helped.

try some of the local triathlon shops, they should have some calf compression sleeves.

I have some serious shin splints as well from cross country with my Nike Frees. I can barely walk normally after race days.
I bought some Under Armour Proto Speed II shoes second hand (they are new) for cheap after my coach said I needed to get running shoes. They were much comfier and supportive than my frees and with the killer price of $45, I couldn't say no.
I still get shin splints though...maybe I need EVEN better shoes? (I was looking at some for $150)
Or should I buy these shin sleeves the OP is talking about?
I can also get orthotics, but would rather go for a cheaper alternative.
