Silica gel is neither a deodorant or a disinfectant.

twas a joke....Although it will help keep his feet / shoes mold free and dry, which may result in better smelling shoes

Do you guys not put liners in your shoes and wear socks?

How does one get smelly shoes? Gross!

Besides that, who keeps a pair of shoes for more then a year tops?

I use the Dr. Scholl's foot powder. It comes in a yellow bottle with an angled neck. Lasts for a really long time and eliminates smell.

some people have foot odor problems that some socks/shoe amplifies the effect.

I was just noticing my last couple pairs of shoes were starting to smell kinda funky and they aren't that old (<6 months) or perhaps I was wearing them more often and not noticing or maybe I have developed some sort of foot issue. They look fine on the outside. It doesn't have anything to do with not willing to buy new shoes, or not wearing clean socks.

Anyway, have a few bottles of lysol in the house so going to use it to spray down the insides and the insoles. I have 4 pairs of the same non slip shoes I wear for work so I'll alternate them and spray them down and see how it goes.
