Hey Im looking at a 1999 Audi A4 1.8T. If anyone's had experience with these before I'd like to hear! Anything I should look out for? How was maintanence/reliability? Any problems or issues I should be aware of? Been doing some research and can only find things about recalls. Any thoughts and opinions would be great!

I had a 1998 1.8TQ, bought it in 2001 and sold it in 2004. I thought it was a great car, never gave me any problems, except the catalytic converter got clogged, which was covered by emissions warranty. It only had 60,000 km when I bought it, and roughly 110 when I sold it, so it might have been too new to experience many problems.

Mine was chipped, which I'd recommend - pretty quick and easy hp upgrade.

Good luck!

have the suspension checked and know that they need timing belt/water pump need changing every 90k not 180 like in the book. My 01 has 196,000km and i've needed to maintain the following over the last 50,000k:

waterpump
timing belt
both outer tie rod ends
1 rear wheel bearing
shocks/struts
brake pads x4
4 way blinker switch

All of these parts were pretty cheap online with free shipping.

Awesome car, quattro is great in the winter.

I have a 1998 2.8. Bought it with just over 100k and now have 106k on it. Only had to change the timing belt because it hadn't been changed yet.
