Check out this video of a bunch of UofC students sending a message to Robert Thirsk (a graduate of UofC Engineering) who is on the International Space Station.

Try and watch it in HD on youtube it's pretty good. Also, I don't think he was able to see the message because of the weather.

I've seen Jay a few times at the U of C. If you sit in the ICT labs on the 2nd floor you'll see him go into the office of the director of comms (not sure why she's on the 2nd floor in one of those offices) if they're doing a piece about engineering at the U of C. I can in fact say he's a 'chill guy'.
