BUT we cant do it solo, we are looking to beyond.ca for some help!

We NEEED cheap parts or if your looking for awesome points free stuff, anything helps

we need
Engine, tranny, Ecu, harness, diff, axles. fuel pump, etc.

Brakes, calipers, hoses, master cylinder, clutch master,
and some other stuff.

everything really helps!
if you got any other stuff it would be awesome

we can fab the rest

And for people to donate parts, they get to help choose the final color!

One side has a tire on it, the other side doesnt.

I just dragged it closer to the shop with another mini truck.

Good idea. Plenty enough power to make it go sideways. This is very interesting project.

Keep us posted and good luck:thumbsup:

Well i found a Sr20det, and trans for cheap!

SR20det minibrute! :poosie: 200hp of pure death. pretty sure i can spin the tires with that power. :nut:

Now i just need a harness and ecu. and i think a turbo. Stock T25 will do guys! :D

Thanks guys, Motor and stuff i think will be the easier part.

THe front is going to be the hard part: dont know what im going to do for brakes, and steering. I dont know if a stock kei truck can handle the power for brakes.

i just have never understood this whole... oh noes i haz more power this means i need to stop fast!

what does that have to do with braking? do you stay on the gas when braking or something?

same weight... same stopping distance (sure sr20 will be heavier then 660cc kei car motor but not heavier then fully loaded up stock kei car)

I think he will be going just little bit faster than a stock minitruck when he is braking, but thats just me.

a general rule of thumb is that the brakes should be able to stall the motor. i highly doubt that the trucks stock brakes are enough to stop a KA24 or a SR20.

i don't have any parts but i could donate some fab time.

ercchry
09-30-2009, 11:25 AM
stall the motor how? letting the clutch out in gear would stall the motor no?

imo for a "drift truck" matching the brakes to the weight of the truck is enough, you will not be hot lapping this thing so over heating is not an issue

Sr20 should be recieved saturday, and then the process of doing headgasket/waterpump/etc before getting put in. :)

I am going to do a Corolla solid rear end. Can this handle the power of the Sr20?

syritis
09-30-2009, 05:11 PM
I've seen the rear axle from a 1st gen RX7 hold 400hp.

if you push the gas pedal and the brakes pedal as hard as you can the brakes should win. if not, it's time to upgrade the brakes. Brakes stands don't count b/c you not pressing the brake pedal as hard as possible.

Figuring out how to make it shift is going to be a hard part too.

Since shifter goes into the tranny, and ill be sitting ahead of it. So i dont know how im going to get it to shift.

Ideas are welcome:

Heres my idea:
(extend the shifter with something like this, so i can reach it.)
i think this should work :dunno:

If it's just a solid rod you would have to move it like 2-3 feet to change gears. They would be the smoothest shifts ever though. :)

Haha darn i forgot about that.
Hmmmm, maybe cables?

Cables maybe. Probably easier than trying to design a linkage that works.

ercchry
09-30-2009, 10:44 PM
that drawing is a little off from reality... you probably wont even have a driveshaft in a truck so small... and the shifter is at the very ass end of the tranny... so.... mid engine is best

Errrr.... I don't see this working too well jared, unless you go with an autotragic tranny.

...unlessss.

you go with a sequential shifter, like the one ikeya formula makes. that way you can easily attach a rod from the shifter to the cab. and to shift is just a matter of pushing or pulling the lever, no side to side shit.

http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/6405/22368118.png

baaaaaaaam. oh yeah where are mine and eric's wheels?

smoothessence
10-01-2009, 04:14 PM
I'm with ercchry here.

The fwd sr20 bluebird motor would most probably require less custom fabbed stuff and you won't require any driveshaft if you can shoehorn it in there

ercchry
10-01-2009, 04:17 PM
my other idea was a straight trade to someone with a z24 cav for the sr20 he has... then he will have everything to plunk the sweet 150hp power house of a motor into the bed of the truck :burnout:

actually with this plan you don't even need a sequential shifter, I'm still trying to find picture but if the bushings on both shifters are tight then when you pull the front gear shifter to the side, the rear will go to the same side. kinda like a torsional bar.

Cooked Rice
10-01-2009, 11:23 PM
yea'd it'd have to be pretty darn tight. and if it started to slack than you wouldn't be able to shift. i think it also increases the chance of mis-shifts. sequential is so simple, forward and back, no chance of mis-shifting. with a sequential box on the tranny, you can even use a custom cable linkage to shift. even hydro.

oh yeah, how is cooling and intercooler going to work here?

Doesnt cooling work with a rad? i think thats how it works, and piping works with a intercooler ;)

Isnt sequential alot of money?

And cooling and intercoolers are overrated. :D just kidding. but i cant figure out how to do this, without having the motor in the vehicle to get space.

If it was mine and I had the time, I'd just buy a wrecked liter bike off of kijiji and use the bike motor, make some axle modifications and run a chaindrive. Im sure many performance atv parts could be used all round if you are able to fab up brackets and mounts - i honestly have no idea, but I've seen some of these trucks very modified (frames swaps, v8's, etc) and I wish I had the extra cash laying around to do what you are because these little trucks are just downright cool.

Edit: the reason I suggested a bike motor is because fabbing up an in-cab shift lever is MUCH easier in this case, as well as output options such as gearing and sprocket sizes. That, and it sounds rediculous - you've seen the SmartHyabusa right? :bigpimp:

it would probably be alot easier using a FWD engine/tranny combo for this project no?

+1
If your familiar enough with cars to take on this SR20-minibrute microtron project, you can definitely work with a bike engine. Plus, it includes the sequential shifter, I can't see how anything could work any better than this. Plus, liter bikes make 150-190hp depending how new it is, thats plenty for this little machine. And like paul said.... the sound:D :D

That is a good idea. This one has my vote. Mount a mid-engine H22a or something . It would have enough tourque to make spin the tires and would like being rev'd high as well.

Well im going to try Sr20 haha. If it doesnt work ill keep going with different ideas. I have about 6 months or more of winter. Oct to April/may.

Also for the Sr20 im looking for.

-Coilpacks
-Harness
-Ecu
-Alternator (same as a North american vehicle?)
-Starter (same as a North american vehicle?)

I got the Sr20 today, we started working on it. We are replacing all the gaskets.

Also i have another truck shell, so i may do the Sr20, and then do a H22 or FWD motor in the rear w/ a bar to lock the steering.

sr20s14zenki
10-04-2009, 08:09 PM
The alternator and starter are both sr20 specific, altho you CAN modify a ka24e alternator to fit. As for harness, you can usually find BRAND NEW harnesses on ebay for pretty cheap, there are a few companies that are reproducing them i think.

I think importconcern had some coilpacks the last time i was on the site.

havent really done much, but i have another truck now. This will be the one getting the sr20, and then the other one previously posted will get a H22, in the warmer months, since it cant really be moved, and snow is coming soon.

How wide is that engine bay(between the towers)? I'm wondering if a EJ20T would fit... reason being that the EJ engines are very compact and would help keep the center of gravity low in the truck.. which ultimately would help with drifting and balance.

Dont mind the cut out peice.

No drill holes yet, it will be bolted to the frame.

Fairly simple, this is half of the mount, there will be another piece that cradles the engine from under it.

And we got bored at the shop so we decided to paint the truck for fun.

We were seeing how bright the green is, to see if we wanted to paint it that color.

So since the motor mounts arnt done yet. We have started making our aero kit.

We have most of the mock up all done. Yay for cardboard!

Why an ae86 rear end? They can barely handle the 4age let alone an SR. I'd look into a 240 or an old mustang rear end.

Looking for solid rear end, probably going to use a 1/4 tonne truck. Needs to be open diff so i can weld it. :D

Dude......Are you retarded?

You're saying that putting bigger brakes on a car, when modding a car to go faster is pointless? The faster you go the faster you're gonna have to stop...no?

You need bigger brakes to dissipate the heat eric. Braking works on friction, therefore, more speed, more friction, more heat. Why do you think fast supercars have like 16" vented rotors and massive brake pads. For example, if i dare hit my brakes doing 180 in my 240, with my stock brakes, they would fade RIGHT NOW and stink, and start wobbling. I can hit my brakes with my z32 brakes, no shake, no stink, no fade. More speed, more friction, remember that.....it is very important, especially if you happen to be fucking around and i need to do a panic stop.

this thing is not going over 60km/h without flying sheet metal and combusting into flames.... i stand by my point.... it will accelerate faster, sure.... top speed faster? i doubt it... and if so he will have many issues before he runs out of brakes 100-0 is still 100-0, he is not going to be hot lapping he will not fade the brakes, the track in sask is 1st and 2nd gear, thats it

very true man, i meant generally speaking upgrading the brakes is a good idea, but i sppose in this situation it would be pretty pointless. The most important part on my car is my brakes as far as im concerned, if they arent working to snuff, im not driving it. But among alot of items that pro drifters upgrade, brakes are some of the first things they touch, is it not?

not at grass roots level haha.... we are not doing 4th gear crazy shit, those top pro drivers in japan are building cars that go crazy fast, there is a video out there of some pro cars out at a togue run and they are unable to drift with the locals because the turns are too low speed and the cars are not designed for that stuff

i have yet to run out of brakes, 240sx had the original ones that you had on it, r32 has stockers and really, there is 5 turns or so then a 10min cool down between runs, i only ever hit the brakes going into the first corner, the rest is just feathering the throttle and maybe a little pull on the e-brake to adjust angle

Huh, good to know. I do quarter mile, and hope to eventually be doing 150 mph haha, ONE DAY I SAID, dont make fun of me and tell me i suck. But anyhoo, good brakes are...well...good (=

just shutup, why do you try and piss me off every 6 months? you dont drift yet you are constantly on driftwest, and i doubt you have even been out to the track to drift before so you know nothing about how stock brakes work just fucking fine, if you are not breaking the law stock brakes work for the street too! like i said!

LOL....Do I get to you that much? I mean its only a post.....

I go on driftwest because I have baught lots of parts there, Actually baught a car on that forum aswell...But wait, Am I not allowed to post there unless I drift?

Judging by you're posts, I do know more about stock brakes vs aftermarket...You'er just talking out you're ass because you're stock brakes hold up for you at race city.

I've tried both stock and upgraded brakes and let me tell you, the upgraded brakes make a world of difference.

Maybe if you baught a set of good brakes you would know what I'm talking about.

the grammar in this post is beyond words....

and yeah you are right, my 4 pot brakes are just shit! maybe i should bump them up to 6 so i can get even flatter spots in my tires!

i'm sure your sweet brakes do you just great stop light to stop light in rush hour, and i'm sure you have just the cat's ass pads in them too that work well at all temperatures

Thanks grammar police, I could care less how my grammar is...or what you think of it lol

I enojy typing these posts, You probably type them out of frustration...

You think all I do is drive to work in back in a car that I modded? No...I have fun with it..and when I started making more power I started realizing that I need better brakes...Because my shitty stock S13 brakes werent cutting it...

But I'll stop, No sense in arguing with you.

Im curious how much power you have? because i dyno'd at 247whp (low power for the setup but i know the reasoning behind it) and i still have the stock brakes, and they have served me well in every aspect, be it a 1/4 pass, to a drift event.
