BMW X5 :) all the way.

Mikko
11-13-2003, 05:43 PM
X5 is weird. The 5 series has larger interior space/cargo volume which feels a bit rip-off, and it sucks for off-roading. Thus 5-series seems a tad bit more fun.

???? So you're saying the X5 is good or not??? Sounds like you're listing the pro's and con's of the vehicle and why do you think it's weird?

Youre all insane :) 4runner is pale in comparison to the escalade!

Mikko

I think the X5 is strange because it isn't really good at anything, except costing the owner money.

11-13-2003, 06:22 PM
The only reason people are saying 4runner is because it's a import, and you're asking a forum that is mostly pro-import and don't like domestics very much.

The Escalade is a lot bigger, and depending on the exact one you buy, will cost less, and will have loads of options and features.

Oh, and notice that most of the people saying 4runner are people who already own imports. The word BIASED is stamped all over this thread

But outta your choices I'd go w/ the escalade... as Littledan mentioned they should be pretty cheap b/c of poor resale.

It's been voted very high (if not the highest) on safety, performance (4.6 can compete against many sports cars), reliability etc.

Is that not anything?:dunno:

Not tryin' to bitch but I don't see why you're cutting down something you probably don't drive nor can afford.

Nothing wrong with safety and reliability (questionable), but what kind of off-road performance are we really talking about here? I have a strong impression it was terrible off-road. By the way, sports cars don't go off-roading.

don't see why you're cutting down something you probably don't drive nor can afford.
It's a debate. I'm offering my opinions. Should I only offer my opinions if I can afford one, or own one?

Most buyers will realise there's little point in having a large 4x4 with no off-road ability when a BMW M5 is more capable and cheaper.

I'm not the man to ask for that sort of thing (don't subscribe to it). But I guess asking around in other forums too, especially those you want to impress. Check out cultural things too like what cool movies featured which cars (seems like Matrix 2 was Cadillac sponsored) and rap videos, etc.

Actually, you're wrong. The person said 'your odd' meaning odd belongs to him, not you're which would be you are odd. Funny how a Swede understands this better than a Canadian.

It's funny how people always have to rationalize thoughts for themselves. No one will appreciated simple self expression anymore.
Seems like everyone is trying to always put down people with money or priviledge. Usually those people are the ones with neither.

As the unusually rich are in the minority, odds are the critics will be non-rich.

Express = to try and give others a certain image of the self. Motor vehicles are often used for that. I also think that people will try to emphasize their strengths. A nobody with a lot of money might focus on just the importance of having money and displaying it. Who knows.

First of all, If you got the cash, the FX45 is the Best thing for the money end of story, the price how ever is quite high, worth every penny, but still, the FX35 isn't as good and there are better options for that class and price. The 4runner is good and everything, I mean I love driving them they are wicked in snow and ice, but it aint no escalade: no good in snow, no good on gas, but the amount of pussy that comes flyin' your way is worth it. The Navigatior sux, no good at all, just looks pretty and feels nice but is USELESS in snow, ice, rain, etc and is seriously under powered. My choice the Escalade EXT on 22's cuz of the pussy, and you gots to love the pussy. Sorry anout the long post.

I choose the Toyota because it's new, less likely to be stolen, probably cheaper to insure, definately cheaper on gas, will have better resale 5 years from now - and I don't like driving cars that scream "I'm a rap star".

I used to drive an Escalade as a weekend car and I've also had the new 4Runner V8 Limited out for a rip. Contrary to popular belief, the Escalade is not all that impressive for the price you pay. Sure it's bling, but I prefer the 4Runner. Part of the problem is that the Escalade got 10-12mpg in the city. :thumbsdow:

Actually a big considering factor for me when choosing cars is the fit and finish of the interior as that is where you'll be spending the majority of your time.

From the exterior, I'd definitely consider domestics. Once you put yourself into an expensive domestic though, the controls inside remind you as if you were sitting in a sunfire or a cav. I thought I'd bring this up as I went to check out the escalade and the interior is far from satisfactory. Compare that to a baseline bimmer or audi and you will definitely be blown away by the difference in appearance.

Of course that is just an opinion on my part.

If you don't plan on driving an Escalade in the city ... you have no where to drive it. Highway? Mileage wont be much better plus its harder for the "pussy" to get in as others have brought up as a reason to buy an Escalade (unless of course hippy hitchhikers are your thing). Offroad? Riiiiiight. 'nuff said.

I wish car companies would stop making Luxury "SUV"s. Call it a Luxury wagon with a 4x4 option, a waste of gas with a leather interior ... whatever. Calling it a SUV implies that the driver of a such a vehicle would use it for either sport or utility. How many Escalades you see down at the fishing hole or at a job site?

If you want a Sport Utility Vehicle ... from the options given get the 4run. You want bling and to "roll up" on some high maintenance "women" ... get the Escalade (don't forget to get some spinners).

As for a fight between domestic and import ... if he wanted to know which to get between a Jeep and a 'Yota ... that would be an issue. As it stands, not so much.

I disagree. Before I bought my truck I test drove alot of SUVs and trucks. Most just for fun.

The T-reg in v6, v8 and v10 form are great quality vehicles in my opinion.

It seemed domestic suvs were cheap looking, very noisy and to much money for what you get.

If money were not an concern, the T-reg V10 TDI followed by the infiniti FX 45 or the BMW x5 4.4 is.
