I'll be getting a G4 iBook myself next month.

if you are a student I guess the UC store would be a good place. I bought mine online at apple.com.

I have a PowerBook 1.25 GHz.

I just worked out the price of a 14" iBook with Airport Extreme card and it's not that much cheaper than the Microstore. You're probably just saving about ~$100 or so, depending on what you're getting.

I think the U charges a little more for shipping from the Apple factory in California. But shipping is free for orders over 75 dollars unless you pay 20 dollars for expedited shipping.

Plus you get it the same day. You don't have to wait and what not.

Or you could try Apple.ca. Then you don't have to worry about shipping from the states. Cause you'll pay duty charges too, if you order from the US... And there goes your $100 you woulda saved...

You can't even buy stuff from Canada on Apple.com. They redirect you anyways. The stuff is cheaper in American dollars anyways, you'd even save even if they did charge you duty b/c our dollar is so strong.

Did you bother to check that you knew what the hell you were talkin about before replying?

Take a look at this:
Dual 2.0Ghz G5 --> 2999 US, 4099 CDN. That's 73.16 cents US to a canadian dollar. Right now, the exchange rate is around 76 cents US. What you'll pay, exchange-wise, on your credit card, is more like 72-74 cents. And then you pay duty on top of that.
If you order the dual 1.8 (just came out today) or single 1.6, then you MIGHT get a better deal by ordering from the states, cause they come out to like 71.5-72 cents to a canadian dollar from US store to canadian store.
Order from the Canada store if you want high-end. :poosie:

huh? I bought my system from the apple store. (canada store) There is a world wide link on the store site (look at left nav.) Should check the CANADA store price as they are different then US store prices. Also shipping is only 70 bucks (for my G4, no monitor).

Hey moron. THEY DO NOT SHIP TO CANADA ON APPLE.COM.

Did you bother to check before making a stupid statement. Go to checkout and you can only ship to the States.

The only way to get prices like that are on eBay and you will get hit with customs if they guy puts the real value. But $ for $, Apple.com is cheaper than Apple.ca when you convert.

BTW, 2,999 US Dollar = 3,899.60 Canadian Dollar
2,999 Canadian Dollar (CAD) = 2,306.39 US Dollar (USD)

Median price = 1.29930 / 1.30030 (bid/ask)
Minimum price = 1.29660 / 1.29710
Maximum price = 1.31760 / 1.31800

Yeah, I know. But he is saying ordering on Apple.ca is cheaper compared to Apple.com.. At least that's how I read it....

And Apple.com is cheaper when you convert, except you cannot ship to anywhere but the States on the .com extension.

BTW, when did you order your G4?

Shipping is free now when you order over 100 dollars or something. I paid like 22 for expedited shipping.

Why the hell would you get an apple computer???

Not much of a gamer eh?

For the price that you'd paid for an apple, you can get yourself a pretty decent PC.

Which model? Alluminum or the older Titanium one?

Superdrive or Combo? I can't see Superdrive being that cheap since the EDU price at Apple is 3249.00.

Ahh, that is still a good deal.

That means it's probably 867 MHz or 1 GHz w/ DVD Burning capability. Pretty good for 2600 :)

Alot of the graphic/video apps runs better on mac. There are also some exclusive apps that are made for apples only.(ie: Final Cut Pro)
