Dang! That's pretty serious, with the amount of Money/jail time he's facing.

When I was working at *ahem* a motorcycle shop in Bowness there was a group that would buy one of each new model every year and send them off to china for reverse enginering.. Not sure how legal that was.

If the information he had was FOrd's business model of 'build shitty cars for 30 years and have the government save your ass', then it's not a fucking secret.

Reverse engineering is not illegal but there are some ethical issues involved with it.

Copying patented material is illegal, but for something that is common it's hard to prove.

If you're going to hate domestics for no reason, at least get your companies right. Ford hasn't gotten any bailouts, nor do they plan to.

for an opportunity with another U.S. company's Chinese operations

hmm, which company is that and would they have wanted to take a look? http://fc05.deviantart.com/fs32/f/2008/204/2/f/Shifty_Eyes_Emoticon_by_Canaan1.gif

Honestly, Ford is doing well. Good integration (sync), better designs, and no bailout money. IF (big IF) I were to buy a domestic, it'd be a ford.

Yeah I am very impressed with Ford. Right now I am driving a ford flex, and it is a really nice car. Quality is really good compared to the other domestic companies.
My feelings towards ford is definitely changing compared to 7 years ago.

Too bad when I tried to go to a ford dealership last week I got absolutely no service. Nobody was busy. :thumbsdow

I would think it would be GM, as I'm not sure how big Chrysler is in China. GM has a fairly huge operation in China. Now weather they actually bought/used any of this stolen stuff is a completely different matter.

I think only people with no insider connection will resort to this.

There are tons of supplier that you can legally steal from in China without the trouble.

Why does GM need info on these parts?

And we need that shifty eyes emoticon added.

I'd be quite happy to sport a GM, Dodge or Ford as of late. Most of the latest models are pretty damn nice.

Went on a road trip in a Flex this weekend, and I must say that the interior was up to par. Material was good, design was good, space was good, etc...

But those looks...man j how do you get used to those looks? It looks like a limousine van.

Wow, 10 years and 250k fine + criminal record + companies will not hire him because of his shady business, he's done for.

If he was actually able to profit on the sale of any of the information, and it was for instance GM or similar who purchased it, then wouldn't that company also be in trouble for purchasing stolen property?

I think his download of all 4000 docs in one sitting is what did him in.

Really, if I worked in the company for 10 years, unless there's a strict IT guideline on working away from office, I would have shit load of company secrets either in my head, paper form or digital form.

This is what made me valuable to competitors to poach.

Now companies should have ethic/IT guideline and patents to prevent such thief and give them legal recourse.

Yes I agree. Interior was awesome!
I've only had it for two days. I've had three people come up to me asking me about the car.

Ford didn't recieve any bailouts because they miraculously had the foresight to take out huge mortgages. Hmmm International banking cartel? Bilderberg group? Inside knowledge? Sounds fishy.
