It will work fine for street driving, the track might require more aggressive compound selection but I am sure OP knows that and is looking into that already.

CSMRX7
04-20-2010, 09:33 AM
These are 305 rears.

As far as a street tire these are about agresive as you can get besides nt05s. I have run almost every r comp out there too. But this season I am taking it easy so street tires only. Too lazy for the work of switching tires and brakes haha

Thanks for all the comments. To be honest the car is really quite manageable and uneventful. Hopefully I will be able to put the power down on the track.

Thanks to CivicDXR who took a couple more pics last Wednesday. Not sure what else will come but looking at:

Smaller Pulley
Some exhaust adjustment
BBK
New rims
Suspension adjustments

just curious what you did for tuning? stock ecu can handle all the adjustments of the added supercharger?

CSMRX7
04-28-2010, 11:28 AM
Engine management was Flashed by ESS

The car runs an addaptive system so timing and such is adjusted based on fuel quality as well as temp and humidity.

Additionally ESS adds additional codes and sensors specifically for the SC system which are controlled by the stock system, so the SC has special codes it can throw for diagnostics, and in a serious event can put the car in limp mode.

Pressure = Force / Area
so, Area = Force / Pressure

If the car's weight didn't change, and the tire pressure is the same.... then the contact patch has to be the same area. It's just wider and shorter now.

Honestly its not that simple. Alot of measurements show that contact patch pressure changes with tire width, and that would suggest that the area is changing. Additionally as the shape of the tire has changed this affects side wall deformation and deflection as you increase the force (ie weight transfer due to cornering). This has shown that the wider tire shows a larger area increase under the higher force as well.

A few tire manufacturers and race teams have some good info on this. My initial number of 15% ma be off but you get the point.

When the car is stationary, and all else is equal, contact patch doesn't change. Of course, nobody cares about stationary contact patches anyways.

Different contact patch shape allows for more grip under lateral load, more force, higher load, bigger contact patch.

CSMRX7

You might find the attached article interesting. Most tire companies design tires to be in some deformed state at normal stationary weight that increases as loading occurs. This data shows that below the design limit the tires have nearly the same contact area but under load this is not the case.

Regardless a good read

I realise this is an old thread but i had to respond & say WOW!

Back home (South Africa) M3 was the best form of performance car we could get our hands on. Its always been the benchmark since the E36 M was released & since then, we havn't really seen Any Supercharged or Turbo Charged versions of this model yet.

Your build is very inspiring, especially considering you use the car exactly what it was built for-RACING!

Great stuff dude & lets see more updates

Its been a crazy busy summer. Won't even get another chance to go to the track this year!

Have some new plans for the car that should start taking shape over the winter.

Real Carbon Roof
CSL Trunk
LCI Upgrade
Some suspension Upgrades
18" Track wheels with R-Comps

Then also been toying with the idea to:
Change up the exhaust
Front Lip
Different wheels (either SSR SP1 or BBS LM)
I love LMs but am leaning to the SSRs as you don't see them much on BMWs

Errol.
08-28-2010, 02:10 PM
CF roof and CSL trunk, what about the dimples on your car, mythbusters says it'll make your car faster!
Cant wait too see your car next year Jason
SSR would look good i think, theres too many BMWs with BBS

CSMRX7
11-02-2010, 09:27 AM
A lil update.

In the winter car now :( But that means the car is in the shop.

Currently at Screamin Paintworks getting CSL LCI trunk and lights installed as well as Carbon roof.

Am still deciding on whether or not to do a new hood (maybe arkym), lip and diffuser (likely 3D Design).

May through the CHs on the winter car in the spring then who knows what will go on the M3 the wheel de jour is CCW LM20s but that will likely change before I get to order them.

Yes im almost positive anyways

CSMRX7
11-02-2010, 07:36 PM
Ya they do. I think the aftermarket hoods mostly look bad because they keep the stock vents and add more. You end up with too many vents.

Redlyne_mr2
11-02-2010, 11:41 PM
ya some guy rolled by with a cf hood on an e90 335, he left it unpainted and it looked horrible. Stick with stock:)

CSMRX7
11-03-2010, 07:35 AM
Only thing that I am leaving unpainted is the roof. I am pretty set on stock now for the hood too. Thanks guys!

Now I should measure if there is even a hope of me getting in my driveway with a front lip lol.

Probably end of March would be my guess or later. Just need it back in time for the track, or will have to come out in the M5 in April.

Hoping to order new wheels this week, and possibly construct a set of brake ducts for the first track day.

That's awesome! I was gonna get the Vorsteiner CSL single side CF but got a Arkym one for the E92 since it's way less common on the E92.

I wanna do the Euro, but $175-200 more? For amber signals is so much!!

I will be doing NA version also, but my car needs to be recoded for the LCI lights. Do you know where this can be done locally? The kits for LTBMW or EAS on M3post.com come with the harness and such for the light but there's not plug and play module.

Not anymore, I changed my mind, scraped the idea of track wheels since the track is closing and when for some BBS steplip

what about pick up the Volk TE37 G2's from Tunerworks off Rob's E90 M3?

he is asking like $2800 without tires on M3post.com

TE37 G2 from Rob's E90 M3 (http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=494052) Moved this to my build thread to stop clogging up yours. I almost went for Rob's wheels, but decided not to go with black wheels, but they are a great deal!

Wheels look good, in for pics of them mounted, and to see the car repainted.
