Yes! Authentic BBS FTW!!! Soo many people on the bimmerpost forums buy BBS reps like Linea Corsa, but props to you for pulling the trigger on these! Cant wait to see them on the car along with everything else you are up to with the car before summer comes!

Roof getting installed, sorry for the cell phone pics:

Don't have a final weight savings # since the hanging scale only goes to 10kg. Original roof is 2 pieces, 1 piece was 5 kg and the other was over 10kg, so atleast 15kg total weight.

Entire carbon assembly is 5kg so probably at least 10kg savings. I know that doesn't sound like a ton but its all off the top of the car.

That's the plan. Hopefully will have some other goodies in time too.

Have access to some used Hoosiers if you are interested as well, but if you are on RE-11s and I am on hoosiers I am hoping your traction advantage coming on to the front straight goes away :D

Not sure if I'll make his first one, I'll be running on the new Toyo Proxes1 UHP tires, hope they are close to the RE-11s. Soon after I am going to run some R6 hohos as the car mods develop.

Gonna still try to make it to the first track day but not likely in the M3.

Let me know when you are ready for hoosiers, I am probably in to order a few sets.

Well its been a long time with no update.

Had some issues with the roof fitment but all has been worked out it appears.

Thanks to Dan @ Screamin Paintworks for being creative, Rob @ Tunerworks for being the mediator, and Vorsteiner for stepping up to the plate and standing behind there products.

Car should be in paint next week!!!

For now here is the M3 Targa

Roof is now bonded, and paint should be this weekend. Counting down the days till its back on the road!

Dan @ Screamin Paintworks not only did a great job fitting the roof but recleared it so it is smooth as glass.

No question the GTR has the potential to be a better performer in all catagories. The m3 at this stage was pertty close in performance to a GTR with boltons. The m3 feels light and agile where the GTR is more brutish.

The M3 though is:
More fun to drive
More rewarding to drive
Better Feedback

Also as an all around car the M3 is:
Quieter
More Comfortable
More Convenient
A bit stealthier

With one car the M3 winds hands down. As a second car the GTR would be good but didn't offer much the M3 couldn't especially without a track, and likely without some big aftermarket turbos.

As far as owning and maintaining an E9x M3, any major pains or maintenance you have to deal with now that you have owned the vehicle for 5 years?

CSMRX7
01-27-2013, 06:28 PM
Not really.

I have had some track related issues with the car like toe links etc and power steering pump failure do to high temp, but the car has been super reliable. Just regular service.

But service is more expensive than most other BMWs.

I don't find it too low, but we really haven't had too much snow that has stayed on the roads. If the road was severly rutted from snow it would likely be an issue.

I am looking at front lips but I am afraid I would damage it pretty quickly. The entrance to my parking garage at work is steep and narrow.

Went with the TI tips. The Carbon tips look really good but I thought since it is a full TI exhaust it should have TI tips.

I may have some before sound clips but the exhaust coming off the car isn't stock either :D This will likely be quieter and more refined than what I have now :nut:

Current exhaust is stock rear section with a modified front section and x-pipe. Essentially it is a stock exhaust with both sets of cats removed.

PM me if you are interested.
