Followed by custom exhaust which included magnaflow muffler and deleted the 2nd set of cats.

Also added BBS CHs and the nitto NT-05s for the track (first of 4 sets of tires in the first summer

I like blacklines a lot. When I am done with the go-fast stuff I will probably add blacklines and 3D design lip and diffuser.

I loved CCWs but they have really variable customer service, I am thinking maybe Advan RS's for the track. Or could always go cheap with TR Motorsports or Enkei RPF1s.

My advice, stay away from the R1's. I dont have alot good to say about them, too sensitive to tire pressure changes, they are vauge feeling at their slip angle, dont work at all untill HOT, and not as durable as people will claim.
When set up right and driven right they are 'supposed' to be faster and longer lasting than a hoosier R6. my thoughts are that most people will be happier with a hoosier.

Thats good to know. Seems a lot of the M3 guys love them. I am wondering if they are better on a heavy car? I was staying away from hoosier's because they tend to wear extremly poorly on such a heavy car.

What does the M3 weigh? A good friend of mine in a 135 corded a set of R1's in 7 days of solosprint, he figured they were out of heatcycles at about the same time. My set still has lots of life left on them after 5 days total, but I had to replace 2 of them after 2 days of laps... locked the brakes going into corner 1, im lucky the tires were all that i wrecked.

The hoosier A6's seem to last guys 2-3 days and are way stickier, and the R6's seem to last guys 6days. Ive seen the A6's cord but not the R6, although im sure its possible.

I think the heavier car would help with the heat issue, once the tires were hot they got really grippy, but no easier to drive at the limit. Its funny at stratotech I could not get enough heat in the tires and my times on 4 year old kumho v700's were faster...

M3 is a pig, @ 3700lbs, so getting heat into the tires isn't an issue, wear is going to be the problem. I will have time to try a few different setups next seasom may order a set or BFG R1s Hoosier R6s and Nitto NT01s and see what I like the best.

Sounds like a good plan trying the different tires, and sounds like you get to the track more than I do.

Good luck with the car, should have lots of potential to go fast!

Out of curiousity, what exactly do you hate about the M3 in daily street use that the C63 would offer?

One word... TORQUE

But beyond that the M3 isn't very comprimising. It rides rough, quite a bit of vibration, touchy brakes, but on the track or the back road it excels. If you have to have 1 car that does both the M3 is it for sure, but if you don't need the track factor you are wasting your money over a C63 or 335.

I've heard this often from e9x M3 owners. On the track the car would be unbelievable, you can really open up and use the car to its full potential. I love my 335i and its lower end torque :) . It's very comfortable and makes for a great dd. If i could afford an M3 and the insurance on it i would have gone with one though. I think the M is still worth it. I'll just pick up a few performance mods to keep up to you and maybe pick up an M3 in a few years.

After driving the M today I must say winding out to redline is sure fun, and makes me forget the lack of torque, but at our altitude turbo cars make a lot of sense. My coworker has a modded 135 and he can walk me from a roll.

This will all change come January though

VT2-600

I have been talking to ESS about a VT2-600 high altitude kit.

With the VT2-600 I can safely run 91 all the times at our altitude, so we have talked about a tune with more boost to run 94. I will decide on this after I see if the regular kit's power isn't enough.

I doubt I will need it but it would be a fun next project!

Haha I need to update Paul on this. He had me on the straights but we were even in the corners last year, but he has some new stuff instore for this year too

Upgrading to better pads and fluid. A lot of the M3 guys are moving to BBK but I honestly think that Pads, Fluid and Ducting will be more than adequate, especially since RC is not too hard on brakes. Also I will only be running street tires again this season since I am lazy :D

Must not go for ride in Jason's M3, must not go for ride in Jason's m3, must go for ride in Jason's m3... wait, dammit, I guess I'll have to go for a ride. I promised my wife no more money into the m3 this year, that's why I'm so scared to go for a ride in your car ;)

Thanks for the comments.

Update:

Car is running smoothly. Finished the break in Saturday night and started to test it out a bit.

First gear is hopeless, have to roll into 2nd or 3rd or they are useless as well, and will chirp into 4th at 150+

I am hoping to put the 305s back on later this week to see if I can get better traction. Then maybe a proper photoshoot.

the thing is damn fast!!!!

Even at half throttle and a lowered redline, everything comes so quickly and the power feels so linear!

:burnout:

Not my car but same mods.

Stock vs. SC to give an impression of what the car is like now.
