Just a quick note for any racing fans on here (cars, bikes, whatever).. The showdown of the year is coming up this weekend between Ben Spies (Yamaha) of the USA and Noriuki Haga (Ducati) of Japan. These two have been trading the title lead all year long back and forth.
Nori's a Japanese ace who's been around for a good 10-15 years on the world scene. He's been so close to the title so many times but never taken it!
Ben's a Texan who's in his first year of WSBK, after winning the US AMA superbike championship for 3 years running. He has never seen most of the tracks this year, and was on a completely new bike to both him and his team (Yamaha R1).
Haga leads Spies (pronounced Speez) into the last round at the Portimao circuit in Portugal by 10 points. If Ben wins both races he will win the title based on victories alone. Of course, anything can happen in racing..
The race weekends for World Superbike are a two-race format on the Sunday of the meet, one race in the morning and one in the evening. The races this year have been outstanding, many times the lead will change three or four times a lap. Be sure to tune in! :D
