Seem like a fair price considering some high end companies charge an arm for replacement keys

$50 for a laser cut key is cheap. You obviously have the money for an Acura, just too cheap for a key?

Why would you cheap out on getting something as important as a key cut? A poor cut can end up messing up your ignition and lock cylinders.

$50 is cheap from a marquis brand. And if your Lexus has no chip, must be a very old one?

i am not cheaping out. i purchased 4 blanks. that would be a total of $200 just cutting. from what reading online people where doing it for about 20 from various sources so i was wondering if there was a keycutter that people now. not here to be called cheap.

i am no where near cheap.

I'm pretty sure you can get it cut with a regular grinder. I've read that people have successfully got it done before using this method.

Since you have a couple blanks, try it and see what happens. If you don't have one to copy, you'll be stuck going to the dealer for $50 or waiting 2 weeks until a $20 one arrives in the mail.

$50 a key is bullshit, especially when you're providing the blanks.

he's not being cheap, anyone with half a brain would see that being a total ripoff.

i lost my key a month ago for my car and it cost me 360 to get a new master key from lexus. so yah 50 dollar for a extra key is cheap.

Walmart cut my RX-8 switchblade key for about 10 dollars when I provided the blank. Chip makes no difference in the cutting procedure as long as you know how to program the key properly. They have a cartridge system and so long as the key isn't an inside cut key (the tumbler channel runs down the center of the key not on the outside) they can do it.

That's not a regular key. That's the 'inside cut' that the guy above him was posting about. I don't think Walmart will cut this type of key for him. This is what it looks like when done:

I was pretty entertained by how upset the OP was getting when people were calling him cheap, but normally I would agree with you.
