Soo I am buying a new vehicle for myself privately. Now I have insurance for it already and am picking it up from the guy tonight. I wont have registrtion because I won't have a bill of sale til after the transaction.
The current owner says I can bring a plate and as long as I have insurance I can put a plate on it and have 14 days to get registration. Is this true or do I have to go back tomorrow after getting the vehicle registered in my name?

The owner is correct, you can use your existing (current) registration and corresponding license plate, along with valid insurance to drive the vehicle for up to 14 days with a bill of sale.

So then the plate from the vehicle I am replacing as long as it is still registered?

The guy you're buying your car from is right. Just bring any currently registered plate and slap it on. You have 2 weeks to register the new vehicle under it's own license plate.
