Thought I would post this up as it is a pretty cool idea from porsche.
Basically a boxster s with 10 more hp and 176 less pounds due to lighter materials, manual top, no a/c, no radio etc. Kind of like a GT3 type version of the boxster, iirc 10lbs more than the 986 boxster.

I dunno - the boxster will always be a chick car, and to remove creature comforts (power top, ac, radio, etc..) doesn't seem like that good on an idea.

To me that's like trying to make a GT2 model out of a Cayenne

^ I dunno, with the mid-engine platform, the Boxster is a great handling car, less weight and more power means this one would be a blast to fling around.

Kinda like:

Though it would be obvious...

^^ what wasn't obvious was what you meant in your post...
they definitely ripped the tunnels behind the seats from the carrera gt..

Porsche is really starting to blur the lines of their models. I think there really needs to be a real performance difference between the models in order to justify the obvious price differences.

I think the Boxster is already getting a little close to the 911 performance as it is....

Still - I'd drive that for sure!

Sweet!

Now get the same specs with the creature comforts and THEN I will be a happy man! lol

I didn't know women cared about the weight of their cars:dunno:

Sorry. I tried not to post it. I really did.

Oh funny guy:rofl:

For a C2 version though, the GT3 and GT3RS seem to be close to that. With the bumps in power and upgrades to the 911's though, this doesent threaten them really.

Thats what you'd think, however my parent's neighbour has a 2010 GT3 with similar seats, i found them quite comfortable. They're actually comfy enough that when him and his wife drove to Vancouver and back, they said it was just fine:dunno:

It's on the Porsche Canada website, and the price is listed as $72,900 CAD. Only $700 more than a Boxster S, but you're losing out on the creature comforts.

That one is with SPORT seat, not the BUCKET CARBON seat.

Sport seat on GT3 normally, and CARBON BUCKET seat on GT2 normally, if you buy the carbon seat after, for ~ $10K.

My advice, BOXSTER/S is a better overall car then 911, and this lightweight spyder will be a great car, (2009 Boxster S : 4.1/4.2 second 0-60mph, so this light weight one will be faster)

Whoever still say Boxster S is a girly car? then go to race with a Boxster S on track.

But if it is my own money, I will still go for the 911 for $50K more .. just because it is a 911. :D

1) the article says 4.6 seconds (in other words, I'd have to try to beat it- but not that hard.)
2) no thanks:D
3) this.

I wonder what CDN pricing will be for this. $61,100 US appears to be for the base model, which doesn't list 0-60 times, since the 4.6s number is coming from a vehicle with the Porsche-Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission and the Sports Chrono Package. Still, great performance for the money spent!
