8 months? jesus...

my gf would always say shit like, "It's our 4 month anniversary" and I would just say, sorry hun, it just happens to also be the 4 month anniversary of the last time I went to the casino with my buddies and got completely fucked up... both are ridiculous.

wow...yeah at 8 months...

Celebrate your 1 year. Anniversaries aren't that big a deal that being said, my 15th wedding anniversary is around the corner. I only expect a card and acknowledgment of the day. We will probably go out, nothing fancy. Save your money for the important points in your relationship. Engagement, wedding, house and baby.

i understand your probably in the "puppy love" phase and just want to be with her and only her and give her the world...

by doing things like this it will become an expectation, and not the exception...

you will forever hate yourself for doing this because if you stick with the girl you will always here...why dont you do this anymore...how come you never say this anymore etc.

stand your ground now and set the tone of the relationship because if you dont now she will walk all over you...

Cut the guy some slack.

listen to this man.

But I guess just going to dinner on the anni isn't a huge deal as long as you don't go over spending with a $100+ bill.
Maybe try that italion resturaunt on 17ave, la chinti or something. It's got some chairs outside of it and its on the south side of the street.

Go a different direction. Why don't you guys spend some time at your place and cook dinner together. Make the entire experience unique from start to finish: go grocery shopping together, select some wine to pair with it, prepare the meal, cook it, eat it, and then hump like bunny rabbits.

Seriously. What would have cost you $150+ could come in at $50 or less if you plan it out right. Plus, every woman appreciates a man who can cook AND takes time to spend with her.

Ba-BOOM.

If you want to do something special for her, do something that stands out and she'll remember rather than something that's nice and exquisite at the time. Cooking her supper at home is much more memorable than supper at a nice place. You could turn, "Hey, remember our 8 month anniversary when you took me to.......what was the name of that place?" into "Hey, remember when you cooked for me and <something stupid> happened?" Even if you live at home with your parents, get the kitchen to yourself for the night. You could even take her a few minutes outside the city afterwards to some place with a view and hang out.

But if you're looking to do something special for the timeline, don't do it. 8 months is pointless. You're already getting gouged four times a year on her birthday, Valentine's Day, anniversary and Christmas, why do that to yourself?

It's like chris rock said, can't rmember verbatim but he says something like a girl will never go backwards in dates. Once she dates a guy with a car, all the guys she dates has to have a car. Once she dates a guy with his own place, all future guys have to hav their own place. With you taking her to mexico, all the other guy's gotta take her to mexico now

some funny comments! i was expecting this lol

Its actually a family trip to mexico in february and im taking her.
also we havent gone out for real dinner at all, i dont celebrate every month, thats just silly.

I just got in the mood to wanting to go out for a nice din din... you know? im sure you guys get in that mood also, then again a lot of beyond doesnt have anything but the computer room and porn.

But I was expecting some mature comments on here, guess not tho. I know theres a lot of people on here to frequently visit nice resteraunts and know where a good place to go is... Guess not

Keep Ethuggin yall, one person tries to make a funny, everybody tries to make a funny. :whocares:

Then if anything I'd take her out, and then part way thru the meal say 'now that I think of this, this is actually our 8th month anniversary'...

Then it shows her you pay attention to little things, and that you are into the relationship.. Not try harding an 8th month nothing date.

if you wanna take her out for a nice dinner but don't mind the chef ordering for you, go to The Belvedere on Stephen avenue, the 7 course chef's blind tasting is about $150 per person with some form of either wine or champagne paired to every course. Be warned though, with fine dining the portions are small and you'll still be hungry after. Dinner came out to roughly almost $500 with a few other orders and tip included. Only thing I gotta say is a shot of some juice and tea should not be considered a course even if it's to clean the pallette, I'd rather have the typical sorbet they give out at other fancy restaurants.

Go somewhere casual like all you can eat crab at bookers or the seafood buffet at grey eagle. She's already dating you, no need to set the bar so high early on especially cause you're gonna be going to a fancy dinner for your 1 year which is 4 months away, why not save it?

I agree to those supporting a decent restaurant and pay your dues. I think you should take her to Banff, gives you an excuse to stay overnight.

Then when you try sticking it in the pooper and she's like what are you doing? Then you can be like honey, it's ok it's our 8 month anniversary.

I don't support the whole celebrating 8 months thing, but I'll humor OP because he seems like a good sport.

La Trattoria D'Italia Ristorante if your looking for great Italian food. Its a family run place, quite small (only about 10 tables I think) and the staff is awesome. It gets busy because its so small, and so good. Not sure if they take reservations, haven't had to check because the owners are family friends. It's located at 7-3927 Edmonton Trail NE. Make sure your looking out for it because the outside is VERY unassuming; doesn't look like anything special.

Hahahah, I took my wife there for her birthday last March, she'd never been up in the tower either and she was born and raised here. Before that, I think I'd been there once, when I was 11.

WOW. i'm speechless. with the exception of ceasars, and pewrhaps S&P (although they charge about double whzt their food is worth, AND there is far better Mexican in Calgary now), that is a terrible list. i'm guessing you're 16 years old and really haven't been able to experience dining on your own terms yet.

seriously, what do you consider a "high end" restaurant? or is that just what you call the classier independent restaurants you're never been to before. your suggestions are in an entirely different (lower) league than most of the others iin this thread.... but you do realize that most of the other recommendations are not really priced any higher than yours? the difference is that they don't advertise on TV, don't send out coupons in the mail, etc., and hire real chefs to prepare fresh, creative food instead of line cooks and high school kids to open bags and cans, reheat and assemble.

the only reason the chains you posted exist is because they cater to people who don't dine out often and understand what good food is, and therefore patronize restaurants they are familiar with from advertisements. go ahead and call me a snob, but it's true. i used to think the olive garden and red lobster were great until I grew up and had some 'real' food. but that's cause my parents had 3 kids and didn't get out much, and when they did it was some shithole chain like that :dunno:

Nothing the waiters aren't used to, as Im sure their quite used to non-Italians (like myself) bastardizing the names . I can't properly pronounce some of it either, but they know what you mean, and if they dont they'll pronounce it for you or ask for further clarifcation. Worst case scenario: point out what you want on the menu and they'll do the rest.

I've never ordered a given dish to which they've screwed up the order on. :dunno:

I'm with nonlinear on the whole chain restaurant thing, however Saltlik is really really good. As much as I hate to admit it, its better than Caesars. Caesars is good, but its overpriced and the servers are super arrogant there, just really don't like the atmosphere.

OP: I want to go to a really nice restaurant for my 8 month anniversary.

Beyond: Wtf? 8 month? Are you in junior high?

OP: Whatever, just want to take my girl to a classy place.

Beyond: Fine, XYZ restaurants are good.

At least he took the initial advice which was not to set the bar too high for just the "8 month anniversary".

If I was him I would have gone to A&W.

Should have takin her across the road to the french maid. Same quality of food and you actually get to look at muff, something you probably wont see in a while after taking a chick to a horrible place.
