Can someone please PS my X5 in flat black, flat white, and flat silver? rage2's pics of his C63 has got me interested in flat-vinyling my X5 again, but CivicDXR suggested maybe other than black....

Your guys' help with my dilemma will be greatly appreciated:thumbsup:

Tried a few different combo's for you, some requested and some just for shits and giggles. I must say though that with that plastic front bumper and those particular wheels, flat may not be the best way to go. If I remember correctly (as you stated) that you had your x5 done in black previously, but did not black out the boards, wheels, windows, etc. In my mind its all or none.

Maybe these will spark some ideas, who knows. And ps, I find it quite challenging to get a "flat" look when I PS non-flat colours, but here is an attempt.

how do you do that?

Matte black is WAY lighter than both your blacks. It's only dark at night. In the day, it's like a dark grey.

Fixed.

One slightly lighter:

It's almost impossible to get it "exactly right" with the glossy light reflection off the body in the original.

Meticulous masking + hue/sat, color balance, levels and curves.

It's just a colour, not a fad - looks good on some, horrible on others.
My jeep was flat black.. :dunno:

Like I said on sunday, if it were me, I would do matte silver. I know flat black isn't common, but out of the matte colors, it is the most done. And very subtle. And since your X5 is already silver, that way, when you open the doors and such, it isn't that off.

Or if you lean towards white:

IMO flat silver is faily "bleh", especially the 350z above. Perhaps I just haven't seen the best examples though.

Thats a pretty nice flat silver. Or go with white. Flat black looks good on more "stealthy" looking cars, not so much SUV's.

Meh, depends on the vehicle but I think some SUV's can look the stealiest of the bunch. Everything below looks sick imo.

never been a fan of matte black (or matte anything, for that matter) but this looks incredible. Even I would rock that.

Yes thanks again for the advice-although I think we should've been praying @ church instead of discussing my color choice of vinyl wrap haha....
I think I am leaning more towards the silver or white, or maybe even a darker matte black (if poss)...

That flat white on that BMW is absolutely gorgeous.. Flat white seems so much nicer than gloss white to me..

But if you've got a silver car, flat silver might be your better bet, as the contrast of your door sills and everything still glossy silver would drive me crazy after a while..

... you should also lower your x5 ;)

^^^ Mine is lowered 2" front/rear, I'd need to go with an airbag setup or a 3.0L rear spring setup (I have the rear airbags) to utilize the KW coilover kit available for the E53...

As for color, yes I am leaning more towards the white or silver.......
