So iam looking to purchase a new sedan as my lease is up on my e92.

Thninking about picking one of these up...Its insane 512hp (supercharged) it feels like your driving a corvette. Interior (fit and finish) is a 10/10. I have spoken to one XF owner who is in love with his car.

Iam about 98% sold, pending the dealship is willing to work me a decent price.

Does anyone else have any experience with the "new" Jags

I don't know how they are mechanically, and as a Benz guy this is tough for me to say, but that is one of the best looking sedans on the road.A5r2_EAoNR8&feature=player_embedded#

Watch the top gear with this new Jag. Jermey loved it. He raced it around the track agaist the M5. He said it was just as good.

My .02.

After working with Subaru/ Jaguar for a few years, the Jaguar product is really coming up especially with the reliability! The XF-R is a rocket ship and it was put together really well. My concern If I were to buy one is that there is only the one place to take it to if you have a bad experiance unless you don mind driving to Edmonton. The other thing is that the body is partially made from aluminum (not fully like the XK) and when it gets cold outsidethe two metals contract at differnt speeds causing the body to slightly twist, causing the sunroofs to "pop/ crack". Iirc there were apporximatly a dozen XF's last year including my old managers that needed to be replaced and his roof and trunk needed some work too since the broken glass caused some unique marks that weren't factory, lol.

Used to work with a guy that has a new XF, man its niceeeee the quality is amazing. Not to mention it's a great looking vehicle. I would not hesitate in buying one over a 3 series/ C class/ A4 etc

I'd rock an XF-R over an M5 any day, what a gorgeous car.

Have you driven a Ford lately?

Just kidding...someone had to say it. When I was returning from the Dominican this summer, they had one on display in the arrivals terminal in Toronto and I was astonished. Wicked look, and upon closer inspection, I noticed the attention to detail even on the little things. Doors were locked but from what I could see it was one dynamite ride.

Ford no longer owns Jag...Hence why the quality is way up.

In that article it said Ford will contiue to supply engines, stampings, and technology to Jag's new owners,Jaguar's reputation of poor quality/reliability existed LONG before Ford bought the company.Under Fords ownership i think some of the materials used in Jags got a bit cheap looking, but i think Ford improved the reliability.

I sure do like the design direction they are taking.

Jaguar reliability improved massively while under Ford's umbrella. If you think that quality has changed in any measurable way in the very short time since the sale, well, I've got some bad news for you.

I can't comment on reliability or anything productive but one of my CEO's of my company has one as their demo, let me test drive it once and all the gadgets it has it pretty :bigpimp:

When you get in and start the car, all the air vents open up, when you get out, all the air vents close up making the dash looking nice and brushed aluminum clean. And the gear shifting is that circular knob thing on the centre console

I drove this and the XKR recently and WOW, it sounds great and looks great. I've detailed some ultra expensive vehicles, but nothing regardless of price has an interior like the new XFR. I would grab one in a heart beat!

But lease these days already factor in brutal resell value (in XF's case, residual after 48 months is 32%). You'll pay for it one way or another.

My dad owns a jag and we were taking a look at one of these to replace it and they are AMAZING cars. Gorgeous looking, amazing interior and fast as hell. Jaguar was rated as most reliable on the JD Powers test too. He's holding off until the new XJ is released. I would take a look at that too, they look even better than the XF and the Supersport has the same power. The interior is ridiculous, virtual instruments, 1200W Bowers and Wilkens system and picnic tables :bigpimp:

I also don't like all those gimmicky things like hiding shit like the shift knob and air vents. Seriously aside from impressing someone that gets in the car, what good does it do, especially when it breaks...

psycoticclown
11-11-2009, 05:52 PM
^^Why?

Because for one, the instruments change depending on what mode you are in. Regular mode, you have your RPM, Speedo and what not, Sportmode, RPM meter is in the center and much bigger, giving it an emphasis, in nav mode, you one of the gauges replaced with a minimap showing you where to go and in cruise control, one of the gauges shows your cruise speed and how far the car is in front. Point is, why wouldn't you want virtual gauges now, they look the exact same as regular gauges but much bigger flexibility.

I kinda have the same opinion...but they gotta keep loading new electronics into luxury cars to make them more "technologically at the top".

CTS V is domestic. I have bed luck with Domestics
ISF..well i think its kinda ugly, lexus does nothing for me

I like the XF-R cause it has an austin Martin look and feel to it. It has a more refined interior then most in its class including M5 and E63.

Factory rebate of $4000 on 2009 and $2000 on 2010 XF's.

Cash, finance or lease.

Correct. Iam getting the XF-R which is the top model. Think it says 2000 rebate on a lease only. Iam going to purchase.

Actually I was wrong. It's counter intuitive that they don't give cash back on cash deals.

It's only for lease and finance with particular firms.

Seen quite a few XF in the core. Usually black, a few reds. Black ones are deadly gorgeous.

I think there was a thread on this somewhere, the dealership gets money from the finance company or something to that effect when a customer purchases a car without/cash, so they actually make more money and are able to pass on some of the savings to the consumer.

I think that's how it went, I don't remember the exact details.

Thats odd. About 5-6 of my family friends all own vehicles over the price of 80 thousand for years now. They get rid of them in 2-3 years time, and all of them write off their payments. They have yet to be audited....

I'm merely agreeing with Xtrema but stating that writing off car lease payments can often be an audit flag. I wasn't trying to say that writing off lease payments will guaranteed that you will be audited.

In the end, it really isn't a big deal as long as you keep a log of your business use or just somehow prove your write-offs are justified. It is just a giant pain in the ass to be audited, cause they aren't just looking at your car payments. Knowing that you may be more prone to being audited is enough for most people to say no to writing off your payments.
