I think a guy in my neighbourhood owns it, isnt it an old m3?

FiveFreshFish

Could be but likely not. E30 M3 convertibles were not sold here so it's either an imported European car, or a regular E30 convertible with an extensive body kit.

There were fewer than 700 produced for Europe.

I know the guy and the car.. I believe its a regular E30 (not M3) with a HUGE widebody on it and a bunch of engine mods.. (Hnt with an big oil cooler peaking out of the bumper)
Today its a bit dated.... but back in its day it was pretty cool.

I heard it's a one of a kind 1987 M3 (yes I understand, they didn't get made till 88. Pretty sweet car.

hey guys, thats actually my car, so thanks to all that think its ugly.
you would be among the very few that dont like it
anyways, the car was an 87 M3 coupe which was stripped to the frame, and built up to be a convertible
its not a 325i for those of you that think so
its powered by the inline 4, 2.3L M engine that came in the E30 back then
i bought it from a guy who imported it from florida in 91, and it was originally owned by Mark Duper who played for the miami dolphons back in the 80's
the car was taken in a cocaine drug raid in 88 and was sold at a police auction in 91
it only has 13,000 original miles
and to the guy that "knows me", u definately dont bud, cuz u clearly dont know me, or the car and its mods

Looks like it could be a pretty fun rally rig. Actually prefer it over some of the other bimmers.

Easy Vince, I definitely do know you! (And you know me as well.)
I'll admit I didnt know anything about the car, just saw it rolling around in the summer.

And to the haters, the car looks much better in person. Definitely unique and pretty sick.

They did, but only in Europe as some other member posted. This is a one-off by the sound of it. I don't really believe the whole back story (doesn't add much IMO).

Looks like it's in good shape, the body kit might look dated now but that's a killer retro mod look. I'd lose the motorsport stripes (or at least in that spot) and figure out a way to re-do the exhaust (ruins the lines poking through the cutout like that. Other than that it's a pretty nice looking E30. Would definitely enjoy some more shots to see if the engine/interior is up to par as well.

Take off the gaudy stripes, and remove the side testy vents (but keep the widebody) and I'd like it quite a bit.

It's just a little bit too "LOOK AT MEEEEE!!!!" for my tastes.

Regardless - I appreciate it's originality. Certainly could pick your car out of a parking lot!

haha thanks man
iv had tons of suggestions on what to do with it but the stripes on the car are actually painted in so im not ready to sink the cash in to get a new paint job just yet
and besides, its kinda fun to drive something that everyone looks at, whether in awe or disgust

I agree with this a lot. The stripes especially is a major turn off for me.

Guess the owner likes the attention...good attention or bad attention is still attention.

Read the story, cool story though.

Hate on Haters this car is mint from its era and you couldnt even try to build something to this Calliber back in the 80s. I wouldnt rush out and build one or buy it but I can definitly appreciate something that could not be reproduced without a serious amount of $$$$.

Vince your car is Original and gets more attention then most Bimmas out there and no one will ever pull up with the same car. At the end of the day there is no way to impress everyone and some people are too insecure to admit they like something thats different then normal.

yeah, i agree

iv ridden in his car a couple times and i think its one of the coolest most unique cars on the road. pictures truly don't do it any justice, in person you get to truly appreciate the fit and finish of the CF widebody. i think its :bigpimp:
