WTB: tone generator, line tracer, network tester etc. for coax, rj11,45 anything you have. got a new job at a telco but i must supply my own tools. ty

Invest in good, new tools. Ask your future coworkers what they use/like, or if they have anything for sale. If you're going to be a UBE for Shaw, I can give you the lowdown on what to buy. I am not, however, selling my good shiznit :nut:

Having done telecom for three years, I agree with Grogador, buy new.
And to add to that, once you've got one set of good tools, buy another set and stash it in your van or at home.... you don't want to be in the middle of an install and find out your tracer just shit the bed and Home Depot just closed 2 minutes ago.

And at least two tone generators, set to different frequencies :) Half the walking when toning several lines makes twice the fun.

PS: Hold both wires and dial the number to see if the line works ;)
