where would you get an mk1 gti?

i have been wanting an mk1 gti the past month. my dad had owned one in europe. he said it huge cheap fun.

would you think it is possible to get it over from germany?
any other sugestions?

If you are looking for cheap fun you are probably better off modding a MK1 Rabbit instead.

I know of guys that have dropped in TDI and 1.8T/2.0T motors into them and they are a LOT of fun.

People who import MK1 GTI's are generally doing it not for the performance, but to be able to own an early GTI and restore it to factory specs.
