Thought there might be a few people interested in custom suits on here.

I just had a great custom suit made for my wedding at Giovanni the Tailor (1906 37 Street SW). He is an old-school Italian who does a lot of work through word of mouth and is likely one of, if not the only person in Calgary who does full bespoke suits.

See the differences between bespoke and made-to-measure (MTM). below:

He does a lot of work for people in the UK and also makes custom jackets/overcoats for movies that shoot in Calgary as he showed me their requests.

It’s not cheap (at least $1,100 for a bespoke suit out of cheaper material), but he does excellent work and the suits are all handmade. Even the button holes and surgeon cuffs on the suit are done by hand.

Sorry if this reads like an ad (I don’t work there), but I wanted to spread the good word so that people can try the bespoke process and ensure that his art doesn’t die (his words). He loves to talk about his craft, is very knowledgeable, and keeps up to date on current styles.

If you’re even remotely interested, just drop by his shop and he’ll show you the stuff he’s working on so you can judge the quality for yourself. He also does standard tailoring and alterations so look at him for that type of work as well.

Feel free to PM me if you want more details about my suit/experience.

4 times a year is a lot. what do you usually get from him? just suits? overcoats? just wondering if anyone else has gotten anything other than suits from him.

i'm thinking about getting shirts from him as he has a guy in milan that makes them.
